10 outta ten would recommend buy this dude's (no pun intended) animation cels. I stare at the cel I purchased from him every day. just kidding. I don't stare at it EVERYDAY, but I do admire it from time to time. great art. Ralph Bakshi is rolling in his grave out of happiness at this dude's (pun intended) commitment to the art form!

Don't know if you are interested but I watched a programme in the UK yesterday about the V & A museum. The guy who designed the yellow submarine cartoon film said he got his team to colour in with emulsion (wall and ceiling paint ) , these cels are being displayed there. That's why I clicked on your 'how to ' video as I'm going to make a copy to hang in my music room. Thank you for sharing 😁

U should not brush the paint on! Use a technique called floating. The brush doesn’t touch the cel, the paint runs of the brush and is allowed to thickly coat the cel. It gives a cleaner look

Wow thx for the heart. That was quick

Thanks Groupgroupman for the valued information. But tell me how do you do the moving background
@andrewdude15 жыл бұрын
I would scan the background separate and move it digitally in editing program. The old way would have the background on a moving rig that moves frame by frame as they photograph

Wow. Dude I have no clue where to find animation cels. They seem to be hard to find. Great video.

Cel animation can be an expensive hobby, but you can cut so many corners lol. Not buying the perfurated paper (it's expensive as hell) acetate instead of the actual cel (there are stronger ones, but they are rarer and more costly than the usual ones) using cheap painting materials etc. yeah, if you have enough commitment you can create a circle out of all the corners cut

would you happen to have a listing for the very fine tipped paint pen? I've looked for some smaller ones but the best i have is a posca paint pen, which works fine but id like thinner lines

Hey Andrew, got a question. Is using any specific kind of markers a good alternative to using paint? Do know if that has been in practice, but just wanted to know your take.

Would it make sense to print the inked cel onto acetate paper using a printer, and then paint the back? I've been trying to find ways to cut costs, and it would be nice to be able to animate digitally then make the cels after
@andrewdude13 жыл бұрын
Tried that if it’s possible you might need special ink because it looked weird and just kind of rubbed off

I have a question how do you put the paint on so solidly? When I paint a cell it’s streaky. Any advice would be appreciated from you or another commentor is appreciated thanks!
@andrewdude12 жыл бұрын
It’s a puddle motion more than a brush stroke for filling in the lines solidly. Different paints have different consistency’s too

if you google blank animation cel sheets they will come up, a cheaper alternative is clear acetate sheets or heavyweight overhead projector sheets

This a celluloid sheet specifically made for animation, there are alternatives like acetate and I have found over-head projection sheets to be an adequate substitute
