I feel like the eyelid challenge is an awful challenge. These artists are clearly uncomfortable, have no experience with the eyelids, all it takes is one mess-up and someone is blinded. It is plain dangerous, and disrespectful to the canvases who should be allowed to get a safe and quality tattoo.

I am with Josh on the first challenge. The eyelid challenge is easily the most irresposible challenge I've seen on this show and had anything gone wrong, no consent would have held up in court because everyone from the producers to the artists to the judges all knew none/most of them hadn't done them and it's on video. No consent is going to protect you from gross neglagence or recklessness 🙃🙃🙃🙃

These people know damn well they can do an eyelid. It is sketchy sure, but it would be sketchy anywhere and it’s better to have people who are competing because they are some of the best rather than some hole in the wall shop or someone who is less experienced overall in tattooing. I promise, it is safer here than almost anywhere else for people who want one done.

As much as I love tattoos, I respect the artists that follow their own mottos of not tattooing faces especially the eyelids. I think it’s very irresponsible on their end for forcing artists to tattoo eyelids in a timed challenge when they’re clearly not comfortable doing it. The canvases can lose their vision if that needle is even the slightest bit too deep. I’m shocked they didn’t receive a lawsuit.

I understand what people are saying abt Joshua being on a tattoo competition show and how tattooing challenging things is the point, but you gotta remember that these are actual people who are probably making an impulsive decision bc they got a chance to be on a tattoo show. The ones without preexisting facial tattoos will most likely regret the decision somewhere down the line, esp because the eyes change drastically over time and also are one of the only places removal isn’t even on the table. Just cuz you’re on a show doesn’t mean you have to completely throw your morals and conscience out the window. Don’t forget that the canvases are actual humans that will go about their lives, not just canvases, and humans love to make regrettable decisions

It's like saying you don't need to know how to draw to be an illustrator. Tattoo artists are illustrators on skin. The fact that he can't translate what's in his head onto the canvas through his hand is ridiculous in a competition like this. This is Ink MASTER. Drawing is a fundamental skill. They had every reason to get on his ass for not being able to draw on INK MASTER. He's a very skilled Xerox machine.

I'd love one, but after learning about the actual science behind how your body reacts I'm not so sure. Your immune system basically keeps attacking the tattoo for the rest of your life, and if you have sensitive skin or allergies you could be stuck with a permanent allergic reaction. The inks also contain quite nasty substances such as toxic heavy metals like lead, chromium, mercury and cadmium, or PAHs which are a type of carcinogenic chemical found in crude oil and coal. Tattoo inks are usually not approved by regulatory bodies like the FDA unless they get complaints about them.

I get not wanting to tattoo someone’s face for personal reasons but the guy wanting it already had some older face tattoos, either he likes the way a tattooed face has been treating him or he hasn’t learnt from previous mistakes. If you’re personally not comfortable tattooing a face then going on a show about doing challenging tattoo styles, designs, and placements to show your skill and versatility isn’t best for you.

I don’t know why you’d think I’d go easy on Ryan for doing this and I can’t remember anything about them at the moment as it’s been a while since I watched. Going into a tattoo contest about tattooing crazy things and locations, having a client with old face tattoos come in for a challenge and be perfectly happy to receive another face tattoo, and refusing to do it because you think you know better and effectively sabotaging yourself is stupid. Most artists will not do a hardcore tattoo on someone that has no tattoos or has very few tattoos. It is a normal thing in the industry. And the eyelids? That’s one of the most delicate areas you can tattoo! If done wrong, it could blind you. And you can never remove it. Of course YOU do not want to be rejected, but it’s not about what you think you want, it’s about the artist having morals. If a freshly 18 year old girl comes in and says "I want my boyfriend’s name on my knuckles" you know what most artists will say? HELL. NO.

Nope. Not at this time. They make you wear goggles when lasering other parts of your body

Yes, they numb your eye and then slide a metal shield like contacts underneath your eyelid, covering your eye. They do that with lasering permanent eyeliner/make up off
