I get the whole "tattoos should be readable to the audience" thing but people who get Stay Strong on their wrists really arent getting it to be read by others. There is no audience besides initially sharing the tattoo, it isnt meant to be casually observed by people walking past you like a t-shirt. It's meant to be more functional to her than to be an art piece for observers. She's feeling low, lifts her arms maybe about to self harm, and reads the message to hopefully discourage that decision. She already knows what it says but it's actually seeing it in that moment that matters to her.

There's also something to be said for limiting the audience of your tattoos for you. It's fine if you want to design around a third party, but why should anyone have to? You see your body more than anyone else. You live in it. You spend every day in it. And at the end of the day, it'll be your eyes on your own ink. So who cares if you just want your tattoo to be for you, if someone else wants it to be for other people they're perfectly able to go out and get a tattoo that'll look good from other perspectives. Your tattoo, your skin, your money, your call.
@slixameth4 жыл бұрын
oreokitty333 I get that but come on bruh. You want a tattoo on you that 1 person can read correctly versus the billions of other people on earth who won’t be able to see it. I get you don’t get it for other people’s sake but it still doesn’t make seems
@oreokitty3334 жыл бұрын
@@slixameth I think it's just different strokes for different folks. I'm also the kind of person who, outside of a professional environment, really doesn't take anyone else's taste or thoughts about me into consideration. Maybe, maaaybe my significant other, if his tastes align with mine. All my body mods are on me because I like them, not anybody else. I think it really does just depend on the person, and outside of obvious technical stuff (like choosing a clean, professional studio instead of your friend's basement, considering your long-term job prospects and goals rather than jumping into a full face tattoo immediately, working with someone whose work is clean and well-done, etc.) there's really no right way to tattoo for everyone. There can be ink for the people who have it and the people who don't equally, is all. Like, I'm writing this KZbin comment for you and everyone else, but my personal journal is just for me, so it's written differently. Both are valid pieces of writing, just for different purposes. It's not a perfect analogy to my point, but it fits.

@@emilytowns6403 luckily, it didn't change the meaning of this tattoo. It still says 'gaga', they just missed the top line.
@meganmonner82695 жыл бұрын
Emily Towns no it depends which side you add it to. If you add the line to the top it says G A G A but if you add it to the bottom then it becomes B C B C. All she has to do is add the line to the top
@merrybright57325 жыл бұрын
@@emilytowns6403 actually it doesn't, if you look at the reference picture the notes would be placed in the same spot if she just adds the line to the top rather than the bottom

I agree. I thought that them calling Nicole Richie a wh*re was extremely rude, insensitive and misogynistic.
@chrischris91235 жыл бұрын
@@inspiration10ongles Re-watch it. I don't think they were specifically calling her a whore. They were joking about how tattooing the word "whore" would be a much less convoluted way to make the same statement as tattooing the word "virgin." Nicole Richie wasn't trying to tattoo the word virgin. She was going for Virgo. A very different sentiment. Insensitive? Depends on who you ask. Misogynistic? Might be a stretch. Pretty sure these guys would joke about the same thing on a guy.

When you have tattoo artist saying up side down tattoos shouldn't be a thing and then you have Paul Booth and many others saying it can be up side down at least on wrists (or max to the forearm) you need to understand that there is no right answer... I have a wrist tattoo facing me to exacly remind me of a message I've wrote there and what is the problem on that? Just like many of them say, it depends on the preference. And tastes are not discussed...
@OxSilentShot935 жыл бұрын
obviously people can do as they want and ofcourse tattoos are for that person so if thats what they want thats fine, but those people als shouldn't be surprised if people think their idea looks dumb
@bmp27915 жыл бұрын
I mean, both artist and demi must have known very well its facing her, because the artist probably had to do it upside down. It really is up to the person. Also the message itself is obviously personal too.
