And I've been watching alot of Ink Master to see where the best placement for my first tat should maybe go. I know what I wanna get, and it's one I'm sure about, since it's really meaningful to me. I have to be honest, it's really annoying when they complain about getting a brown skinned canvass. This should be a requirement for becoming a tattooist. What are you going to do? Turn away brown skinned customers? Ridiculous.

Exactly! If you know what you are doing and do it well, it shouldn’t matter if the client has dark skin or not. I’m black and my tattoo artist did a wonderful tattoo on my skin with lots of contrast and shading. She knew what she was doing to make it look good. Even on one of my tattoos she convinced me to put color in it since I was shy because of my skin color.

I always thought they were too hard on Cleen and Sarah about their portraits being too dark because we all know that they will lighten when healed. Sometimes all the light soft grey disappears and then the tattoo doesn't look like the person anymore and you could end up having to get a touchup and went through the pain for nothing.

Honestly, the politician portrait tattoos... I get that the Hillary tattoo was good and accurate and well shaded but I actually got tears in my eyes when I saw Sausage's JFK tattoo. It was a weird reaction that I did not expect but I just thought it was so beautifully done and so real. I would have given it to Sausage just based on my visceral reaction. But then I'm not a tattoo artist so I don't know the technicalities. But I'll bet Sausage's canvas will never be sorry that they had him doing that tatoo.

I feel so bad for Clean in that challenge against Anthony. Part of being an artist is also taking care of yourself. You've gotta rest, eat, and have a relatively peaceful mind, especially with tattooing. One of my college professors recognized this and his first lecture of any class he taught was how to cook good, healthy, cheap meals. He talked about how to find good cooking ingredients around campus for cheap and how to take care of your cooking utensils so they last longer. This lecture came before anything about art was mentioned and was at least 10 minutes long. Artists don't be taking care of themselves 🤣

If he had framed it by saying "Doing the tattoo on your stomach would give it deflated look, which is not something that you want, especially when that thing is gonna be with you forever. Give me your forearms/thighs/back and I will give you a tattoo that you will want to flaunt everywhere". He would have a remarkably different experience with the client. Anthony is a stellar example of how to deal with people effectively, with Tatu Baby and Sarah being close seconds. Most all tattoo artist told me black and gray is harder than color. The reason it's harder is because of the shading. I would know a lot about tattoos I have 50 of them. And I got two full sleeves and all my legs are tattooed lower part my hands are tattooed my sternums tattooed my back's tattoo.

Anthony’s woman head to head against Cleen had super weird arms. The way her arm came out of her hair on the right was too low and the forearms were really short. When they said it was realistic I was kind of shocked since they usually pick up in wrong proportions that are subtle and hard to notice
