[3:07] Both Solid and Liquid Snake originally have blonde hair, yes.. but... Liquid keeps his long blonde locks and (if I remember correctly) Campbell instructs Solid Snake to cut his short and dye it brown, so it that it'll be easier for people to tell who's who. I think this is explained in the MGS1 briefing tapes if you listen to all of it.

It's indeed explained in the briefing tapes if you heard all of them, but it's not Campbell who suggests Snake to do it but rather Snake who decides by himself, and when asked by Naomi (if I remember correctly), he states that he doesn't want to be mistaken as the enemy.

There was actually a reason for why Snake had darker hair. Because David and Eli looked so similar, they decided to dye Snake's hair in addition to the trim to help differentiate them if they needed to. It's either in the mission briefing or one of the early codec calls.

i mean, canonically, we dont have anything official on his hair, cause there is could be many reasons, they retcon him being blonde and then the official designer for snake says he dyes his hair, and then retcon him to always being brown hair in twin snakes, which was a shitty remake. honestly, for all we know he could actually be blonde, but just prefers to dye it brown, hence why he has brown hair in the original mg games, and the reason he's blonde at the start of mgs1 could simply come down to him just coming out of a drunken, PTSD ridden depression and hasn't felt ready enough to dye his hair, we may never know now

I heard he was named David because of the Old Testament King David, the youngest of his brothers and who was viewed upon as the weakest (we learned that Solid's genes were actually the recessive genes of Big Boss, whereas Liquid got the dominant genes and Solidus was known as the "perfect clone" of Big Boss, thereby making Solid the generically weakest of the trio) but took down Goliath, a giant (any of the Metal Gears). Both even have an older brother named Eli. Also, as MGS4 showed, both Zero and Big Boss misunderstood The Boss' will--a figure whom they pretty much deified in the series--trying to fulfill it their own way. However, arguably, only Solid was the one who fought for what she truly meant the whole time, as her philosophy from BB in MGS4's epilogue: fighting for what they believe in, while respecting everyone else's, much like how of the old testament kings, only David truly had that special relationship and understanding of God's character and goals.

Yep, though I'm pretty sure it's not in a codec but in one of the briefing files. I think he asks Naomi for scissors and cuts his hair, explaining that he doesn't want to be mistaken for Liquid (although I'm not sure how being mistaken Liquid would be more of a liability than an opportunity)

That's Naked Snake (aka Big Boss) you're referring, he's the same protagonist we played on MGS3 and Portable OPS, there were only in-game magazine that has easter egg about him and the other Snake clones, and he was mention once (including Liquid) at the true ending in Kaz's cassette tape, Naked Snake loses right eye when he was young, you can see Solid Snake still has both of his eyes in MGS4

correct, he was being briefed by Roy Campbell and he showed snake pictures of everyone who had taken Shadow Moses, liquids picture was in the finale and even Campbell stated that the two could be exact duplicates snake then cut and dyed his hair

Simply put... The greatest video game of all time. Solid Snake is the greatest video game character of all time. Lately, I've loved Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted. All great games with amazing characters. But nothing really comes close to Metal Gear Solid. Yes, it's very, very complicated. Yes it's super long to play through.. Yes at times it's weird... But honestly.. This series was my childhood. Play it. If you havent ever played it then get it played! And if you have played it... Play it again! I've never known there were novels based on the games though. They'll be getting bought and read soon though. Great video! Snaaaaaaaaaaake!!

Snake's Revenge wasn't the official second part. It was just a non canon NES exclusive. Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake was the official sequel and it wasn't Japan exclusive. it was released together with Metal Gear in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in 2005

In the Videogame Bloodstained Ritual of the Night. David Hayter does the voice for the character Zangetsu. In the voicelines option he says this: "What a terrible night to have a... Box ?" also in Castlevania Lords of Shadow, you can give Gabriel Belmont a Bandana and the Solid Eye. To make him look like Snake. It was a little thank you to Kojima, who supervised the Game. I just learned that Snake has beef with Sonic because his Japanese VA played Robotnik.

There actually was a explanation given in the mission briefing in MGS 1. He cut his hair short and dyed it brown to distinguish himself from Liquid Snake as they are both a part of a set of triplets. A lot of people dont know Snake is actually blond.. lol

It’s weird because in Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, his hair is depicted as brown. Maybe he dyed his hair then too?

@@DrThickNeck like with the rest of the later series, Snake was sort of retconed with MGS1. Basically everyone besides Snake, Grey Fox and Big boss was introduced in MG1.
