Inkscape 1.0 | How to Split / Cut Text

To to cut / split / divide text in Inkscape 1.0, the text must first be converted into a path. After doing this, the text can no longer be added to or changed.
Here are the steps:
1. Create some text, and make sure it is selected.
2. Path -- Object to Path
3. Object -- Ungroup
4. Path -- Union
5. Draw a path using the Bezier Tool, across the part of the text to be cut.
6. Make a duplicate copy of the cut path (ctrl+d)
7. Make a duplicate copy of the text (ctrl+d)
8. Select 1 cut path a 1 text (shift+left click each)
9. Use Path -- Difference OR Path -- Intersection depending on what side of the text you want to keep. Repeat this step to keep both sides. This operation will get rid of both selected paths, and replace it with a single path of either the parts where they intersect/overlap or the part where they do not.

I was looking for that. No, Senthil, you're missing nothing. Draw a line over the text you want to cut (when it's already one path) and go to path - division. That's it.

thanks, in this video i can see with the key and the cliks what are you doing and when you put the screen in shadow but only in light the thing you want to show is realy good (try to keep this way to show in your other tutorials)

Great explanation! Thanks. You just forgot to mention to lower the duplicated text path (I just noticed it until I slowed down the video, as you commented). I suppose this minor step is only needed to have all object easy to follow your steps. Anyway, it is really very important to have this skill, and THANK for this clear explanation!

Love your videos I've learned a lot from you so far. One thing I'm struggling with and I'm sure it's simple but I can't seem to ungroup part of a text. I wrote 3 lines of something and I want to select the third line so that I can move it up closer to the second line but I can't seem to ungroup it from the rest of the text. I've tried highlighting it and grouping it as it's own as well as ungouping it and object to path but they all move together. Could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I would like to put text on a line path that I've drawn and then keep the text in that position after I remove the line that was the path. When I do that the text reverts to normal.

Most of the time, making the path transparent under Fill and Stoke is the best way to achieve this.
