It’s enjoyable to look at how you made this logo from the beginning. Truly a Masterpiece!

Actually you could just focus on the top hemisphere and then duplicate the whole of it for the lower hemisphere being identical to the top one, flipping it vertically.

Love this as always! And for the matching problem at around 4:20, I'm quite sure it was because the bottom lines weren't flipped horizontally.

Agreed. I found I automatically flipped horizontally.

Hey Nick! Could you please make a big landscape of a forest with big mountains in the background and with some fog to top it off? If feel like there aren't any tutorials out there on landscape explaining stuff as good as you!

Obrigado
@emanuelleiros098 жыл бұрын
Pelo que eu vi do programa ele não salva em jpg No caso você pode salvar em png e abrir em um software de edição de imagem como Gimp ou Photoshop e lá salvar em jpg.

Help! When I try to tweak the bezier pen line it won't bend. I can only see something bending when "show path outline (without path effects)" button is on... what setting to I have wrong?
@Shw23114 жыл бұрын
make sure the besier mode is set to regular (NOT spiro) at first when drawing the line then it should bend when you start modifying it with the "edit paths by nodes" tool same as in the video
@datadrops18555 жыл бұрын
2019 Version 0.92 select the draw freehand line F6 instead of shift+F6. Otherwise the line wont bend!

Thanks for the logo-tut. Very informative as always. Is there a difference between the inset function and scaling the object by Strg+Shift+Mouse? Or is just the defined increment the benfit of inset?

Hey Nick, great tutorial. I've been following most of your tutorials for the past month or so. You make it look so easy! I'm a long time AutoCAD user (35+ yrs) and this is a little different way of doing things.I do have question about the Orbitron fonts in your Text and Font window though. I see you have Italic and Bold Italic options available. The downloads I have found only have the other four (Light, Medium, Heavy and Bold). How long ago did you download your font and are they still available as Italic and Bold Italic?

I use Mint 18 although not on my Lenovo. I'd guess your media keys are enabled by default and you'd need to press Fn-F7 instead. Alternatively you should be able to go into the BIOS and disable media keys there. What I did have an issue with in Mint is Alt-click not working. This is resolved by going into Settings -> Windows -> Behaviour and changing _"Special key to move and resize windows"_ to anything other than ALT. Restart Inkscape and you'll now be able to select under objects.

No matter how many times I recreate the scenario here, I get to the part where the 'snap to cusp nodes' tool is applied (approx. 13.00 minute mark) and I can't get it to rotate. The model starts to 'jitter' for want of a better descriptor, and the 'Cusp node to cusp node' dialog appears and 'flickers' at alternate points in the selected part of the model. I can rotate the selected layer as you demonstrate but it snaps back to the default position. As stated, I've tried to recreate the demonstration several times, carefully going over every step, on two separate computers, but with no luck. I'm wondering If I'm missing something when I initially prepare Inkscape for this tute. Core i5, 16 gig ram, Win 10 pro 64 bi, GTX 970, Inkscape 0.91 r13725. I really enjoy recreating your models, successfully, and I wanted to use this in a logo for an assignment. Don't know if you can help but I thought I'd ask in case you have heard of this problem before. Thanks :)
@jdsgotninelives8 жыл бұрын
Found an inelegant solution. Upgraded to ver 0.92...still no luck. Eventually, took one of the corners and kept revolving it until the 'jitter' stopped. Then, I could get it to stop wherever. It could be my cheap two dollar mouse. Purchased an Optical gaming mouse, so this may improve the situation. Great tute!! Thankyou for your efforts. Much appreciated :)
@aronix54247 жыл бұрын
I know what's happening, you have the distance that it snaps to objects a little high (It's that way by default). It annoying I know. :) Once you have snapped the rotation centre to the right corner you can turn it off. The snap to cusp nodes is no longer needed after that point to rotate it. Hope that helps. :)
@jdsgotninelives7 жыл бұрын
Aronix Thank you for responding. Could you explain what you mean by 'it snaps to objects a little high' ? Thanks in advance because I'm not so good at comprehending, lol!! But I think it means that after the cusp notification appears you can mouse over the snap to cusp nodes icon and switch it off and this fixes the problem. Also, can I change the default distance that it snaps? Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance :)
@aronix54247 жыл бұрын
The snapping to objects distance is a setting that makes objects (you guessed it) snap to nodes and other objects when within a certain distance away from it. Yes, it can be changed, just double click on any of the tools in the Tool Bar and a preference window should pop up, scroll through the options until you find "Distance to snap to paths/nodes", or something like that and change it by a few units. (decreasing it of course) Also, you could just turn the 'snap to nodes' off when it's no longer needed, and it would have the same effect just with a little less grunt work and without alteration to your Inkscape. Hope this helps. :)

I had different shapes until I watched which bit of the red circle Nick clicked because they are same coloured duplicates. Try turning each duplicate a different colour and see if that helps.
