For me, the most important thing is the stability (solidity) of the program. I am one of those people who will be glad that more time has been devoted to improving what the program already has, rather than a large number of new features. The stability and refinement of the program is important to me. And about the last video, which was about the Inkscape website. Yes, it doesn't look like modern clones of similar sites, but it does have something homely and cozy. The main thing is not the cover, but what lies behind it. And behind it are all those who create this project, and this is the most important thing. But there is one point. It seems to me that Inkscape is embarrassed to ask for donations. It is better to put the donate button in the most prominent place so that all people can see it, and not hide it as if it is something shameful. You are a big and high-quality project, so don't be shy about it.

Great update Martin. FYI I commented on a recent video regarding a possible enhancement to allow quick access to the X/Y coordinates without shifting back from keyboard to mouse. I didn't write it up because I discovered it already exists in a useable alternative form. For a move/duplicate of a shape, to quickly jump to the X position coordinate entry field the keyboard shortcut is "Alt/X", so now I can avoid a mouse move when duplicating with the following key combination: D X (Sets focus to the X coordinate field, selected) #######(X value) or +-##### (X delta) (Sets focus to the Y) #### or +/- ## (Focus to Width) ... Commenting here to as a sacrifice to the alg overlords :). BTW, Great hat!

Hi Martin. I'm used to add links to external web site. I never thought to connect internal part of a document! I will give it a try and let you know! Meantime I thank you a lot as always! Good job!

Thanks for working on those stubborn hotkeys. Speaking of which. Xara has a duplicate with a right mouse button hotkey shortcut which is oddly satisfying to use. Specifically: 1) Select the object 2) click right mouse button and hold 3) now duplicate is created and you can move it on a canvas while right mouse button is held. 4) let go right mouse button to apply the changes Maybe, Inkscape could accommodate that behaviour as an option.

That is interesting. The closest feature is the stamper key, drag something around and press space bar. Not sure how to change that to work from this alternative workflow,it sounds quite different.

Keybind work is always appreciated! I was wanting to bind the outer edge alignments ("align right edge of object to left edge of anchor" and such) buttons to keys and I realized that there just wasn't any option for it at all.

Not yet, no. But I think it was requested.

Good work as always, take your time and make sure to ship a good release rather than rushing and break something.

A VERY SILLY QUESTION MARTIN: you did this bug animation outside of Inkscape or inside? If outside, why? How much should we give to the project for it to contemplate SVG animation feature? 😀
@doctormo8 ай бұрын
To the project? I don't think any amount would make it a feature, as the project doesn't invest like that. Directed work is always best vested with contractors or similar (which is why I do what I do in the way I do it). While the public interest body tends to invest in different priorities (like fixing bugs). The animation was created by Chris Rogers, I believe he used blender. But honestly I'm not 100% sure as he could have animated it from a text file. If I were doing it, I might do it from anigen or I might just use a text editor.

Where should I go to propose some of the things that should have customizable shortcuts?
@doctormo8 ай бұрын
You can make an issue in inkscape.org/report as a general bug (search for duplicates if you can!) or if you want to do a bit more work you can make a UX issue and reach out to other users to collect all the shortcuts different people need. There is a third alternative, you can pay a contractor to just add the ones you want :wink:

Btw, will start using Inkscape-Shell ASAP hehehe, thanks for the advice

Could building it against the Flatpak runtime help? Or it is no use because you'd need the libraries on your system beforehand anyway? Thanks for the support man!

Hey, Martin Is it possible to show a bitmap image in the background while tracing it using shape builder?
@doctormo8 ай бұрын
Yes, in 1.4 I added the ability to include bitmaps in the shape builder process. Though the workflow might be a little different from what you're doing and we might want to add a bit more functionality for that specifically.

@@doctormo how can i try this
@doctormo8 ай бұрын
@@iamlinux Go to inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.4.x/ and I recommend for linux using the AppImage as it's the easiest to test without having to do anything extra.

Is PDF still using Cairo? There is going to be a move to CappyPDF at some point right?
@doctormo8 ай бұрын
Yes, Inkscape still uses Cairo today, but the goal is to move to CapyPDF in the future.

It's using a standard cleaner, I don't think it can be changed without changing the tool that does the automatic cleaning. Though I think it was recently changed.
