Tutorial number two done today and I've also bought your course. How you remember all of this information I'll never know but thank you for sharing it with us. I wish I could do some sort of apprenticeship, or similar with you. I never considered graphic design etc until your tutorials. If you release any further courses please keep us updated, I'll definitely be purchasing them.

love your tutorials... top notch stuff, sir! i do have one question tho... where did you get your dark theme? it looks awesome...
@LogosByNick9 жыл бұрын
+Jean Belanger Thank you. I'm using the Vertex Dark theme for Ubuntu, so everything is dark by default. There's a way to get the dark theme for Inkscape using Windows too if you search it.

Hello, the green circle must touch the edges of the blue circle on both sides, because each time I have a green circle or two that are separated so I have 5 or 6 parts instead 7

Tried your 3D beveled orb/sphere in Ver 9.1, un-able to de-saturate the color as required, please advise?
@LogosByNick9 жыл бұрын
+Alan Washington You're probably using version 0.91. In that case, it's somewhere in the color menus.

How do you make your workspace black?
@LogosByNick9 жыл бұрын
+Eric Escamilla Mine is black because I'm using a dark theme for Linux that makes everything black/gray by default. There's a way to make Inkscape dark with Windows too. Just search KZbin for "inkscape dark theme windows" and there will be a video about it.

Really nice tutorials. Just missing a little bit more explanations about "why" you're doing some things to make us to learn how and why to do this and that.. ...otherwise, all we will be able is to repeat your work, you know. I hope you don't take this like a bad comment, you know? Just asking you that know "hows" and "whys" to teach us... I am looking for a way to copy the Google Earth icon, I mean, how to copy those waves and stuff...
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
+Marcelo Ribeiro Thanks for the feedback. I try to explain things here and there, but if I went into detailed explanations behind each step, the video would be 2 and a half hours long. I think a lot of people start to get the hang of things after doing enough of these tutorials. I've already seen several people who've started making their own designs, one of which even started a channel of their own, so I'm confident that my approach (although may be lacking) is still effective.
@marcelobetel8 жыл бұрын
Nick Saporito Hi Nick, your videos are really close to be the best Inkscape tutorials I ever seen, but SOMETIMES you fucused to the image and forget to say "now we get this tool to do this 'cause we have to get to that point"... And you're actually doing that, time to time... But maybe just because de disign moment get's to a certain point that demands a little more attention to get lines and shapes properly, it's natural you let the "tutorial" part for a few seconds... I was just trying to make you pay a little more attention abou that... ...you're no lcking at all, man. BTW, thank you for all your time and effort to help people like this... ...you're right, many ones are becoming more confident to start to explore desing, painting and building some scratches and stuff like that 'cause you're showing that is possible to do something very good few steps after Inkscape splash screen turns off...

Dear Nick please give this idea a few minutes of your time. Graphic Designers, for as long as I've been in this business do not know how to estimate how long it will take to complete a job. Almost everyone gets it wrong. Graphic Designers are businessmen . . . if you don't deliver the job on time bad things will happen. Please share your thoughts with us. How do you estimate the time and cost for your work? I assume you are a freelancer or self employed. You don't have to give away your secret. Be broad, be general.
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
+Timothy Basaldua Well, each project I take on needs to be approached uniquely, so based on what a prospective client has for me, I try to assess about how much time will have to go into their project in terms of: briefing, research, market analysis, brainstorming ideas, executing ideas, revisions, production, etc. There's so much more that goes into it too, like whether or not I already have some ideas I'd like to explore off the top of my head which means less time trying to brainstorm ideas, or if I have no idea what to design and because of that have to spend a lot of time researching and finding inspiration. I try to estimate about how many hours these factors will account for, then multiply it by what I feel is a fair hourly rate for my services, and that's the price I'll quote a project at. I know every designer is different. I happen to prefer working from a fixed-rate total price. And like you said, sometimes I get it wrong and under estimate the job, but it's not often, and when it happens I consider it a new lesson learned and part of the cost of doing business.
