Man, i've saw a lot of your tutorials and the conclusion that i took is that no matter the tool (inkscape, adobe illustrator, corel draw, etc) if the guy between the chair and the keyboard make the right choices. But, for me, Inkscape stays on the front because it is free software, supported by a community that keeps it always fresh. Nice job. Thank you.

+heitormetal Absolutely. Design software is just a tool. It's the person using the tool that matters.

Thoroughly enjoying my time following along to your tutorials. Mine are now as sharp and clean as yours - no bragging intended, I've just finally learned to do exactly as you say and not inadvertently miss steps or get confused because of not previously knowing what certain tool icons were for. Thanks again!

+Nadine White Glad it worked out. Thanks for watching!
@nadinewhite9938 жыл бұрын
Nick Saporito Of course I spoke to soon. My next one (Hot Air Balloon) took a few backtracks to get it as clean and elegant as yours. I think that because sometimes I'm following along without knowing the outcome of the step, my brain tends to go at 100% cpu trying to work out what the result will be, so I muddle up the step. As in my brain is asking itself Why are we doing this? What's going to happen? So forth. I should watch the whole tutorial before attempting it so I know in advance what each step is intended to deliver. Actually, I WILL, as opposed to I SHOULD. :)

Really inspiring video Nick. I reckon these must take quite a bit of planning - working out what shapes to start with to get the final result.

these are some really neat tricks, but i'm not convinced this is necessarily the most efficient way to do this? isometric stuff could be well served by a triangular grid for example

Because of Inkscape and Blender I switched one of my PCs to Linux couple of weeks ago. Ubuntu to be precise. Thanks for leading me to Scribus. Not too many tutorials about Scribus but I managed to convert some of my Inkscape works to CMYK thanks to the App. I was wondering if there was a set of Linux programs that you use often? My list would be Inkscape, Blender, Scribus and LMMS. Darkroom seems nice and some video editors sound good too.
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
Yes I mostly use Inkscape, GIMP, Blender (only for video editing though), and Audacity. Those applications pretty much cover all of my creative needs.

Hi, i love your tutorials. You're doing a great job and i realy enjoy it to try this on my own. I was trying to draw an abstract cube with 3 letter. Actually it didn't work out. So i was asking myself, if it possible to make a 3d-cube with differnt letter on each side or it's just my thoughts it could work? I tried to combine "L" + "M" and "A" all letters have a comparably shape. So i thought this will go. Do you think this is possible or do you have any tips for me to reach my goal?
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
+Nebucad LaVey Yeah that's definitely possible. You'd have to use the perspective tool to do that. I may do a tutorial on this soon.

Could you please show how to do the reflection from the thumnail? :)
@nicktrutman27608 жыл бұрын
+SISYPHOZE From what I've learned from his other videos, I believe you can just duplicate the finished cube, flip the duplicate upside down, drag it down to where you want it, bring the duplicate to the bottom or underneath the original cube, and add a very light gradient over the duplication and maybe even bring the opacity down. Hope this helps! : )
@LogosByNick8 жыл бұрын
+Nick Trutman Yes, you're right. That would work. +SISYPHOZE I just made a tutorial about it today.
