This is great. I used this feature to keep a name tag on a shirt from being too thick on a heat map. Saved me bobbin thread too..

Thanks again. I did it! I realized I needed to hold shift while selecting difference for it to work.

I came back to watch... I'm making a new thing and forgot how to do it! My memory is getting worse with age. I hope if I spend more time with inkscape, I will use the functions more and remember. I really like inkscape as a program. Dee

Interesting, this is good for text on top of a back ground or text inside a border. :)

What’s the advantage to using a difference over an exclusion?

Difference removes the top layer shape from the object selected below it. Exclusion removes the intersection area of two shapes and merges the remaining shapes into one object.

Is there a way to do this with a Satin Stitch? I've created letting using Zig Zag to Satin Stitch, but I have it overlapping letting that has a fill colour and Satin Stitch overtop. I'd like to not fill under the bottom later anywhere that my top layered Satin Stitch is, but because it's not a shape, I can't seem to get it to work. Thanks so much for your content, I've learned so much!
