Drilling the parallel slide in my first real practice session for this particular slide. Previous attempts only lasted a few minutes, but now I'd like to start focusing on it more. I saw improvement in this session alone, so I'm excited to get back out there and continue refining it.

Nice! I think it’s the most satisfying slide for sure. When you get a nice, long smooth one it feels great.

Good practice mate. Given that the video was shot a year ago I believe you’ve mastered this move really well by now.

u will instantly slide like a pro if u switch to 88A wheels after this practice. 86a wheels are harder to slide with due to the grip. u doing amazing with them.
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline 2 жыл бұрын
I've always been curious about harder wheels. I sometimes do a tiny parallel slide in these 86a when I'm just turning sharp and not even trying to, so I'm always nervous they might be too slippery. But I should try and see first hand! Thanks for the comment!
@cardioskating
@cardioskating 2 жыл бұрын
@@rerollinginline 88A is the max to go on the hardness in my opinion. They get really slippery when it’s wet or on tiles but they are really fun on dry asphalt which you can slide effortlessly like you're drifting with a different type of carving sound.

It seems goofier at first but counterotate with both arms. You are more than skilled to master this instantly.

Looking good. And I agree with your analysis of this stop. It's more like a trick first and a stop second. Looks cool, but not very utilitarian unless you're Danny fricken Aldridge lol.

Yeah I love watching Danny Aldridge and Nick Lomax do this slide. It looks so effortless for them.

@@rerollinginline that's because they're doing it at high speeds. Im sure it's easier to engage but it's a scary thought for us beginners.
@rerollinginline

@@ZeusMerk Agreed. It was the same learning the magic slide for me. It's tough to give enough commitment to get enough slide that you're actually benefiting from the practice. But hey, that's why this video has me doing the same thing 40 times is a row - that's how you learn!

Coming from on and off 14 years of ice hockey and ice skating, parallel slide is the most similar one to do but it's complicated to fight the instinct of leaning in it because on roller you loose the grip and slide off. I still don't get how to do a proper power stop. But i went out on inline only two times for now
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've never played ice hockey, so I don't have any of that pre-programmed in my brain. The parallel slide is the most satisfying slide on inline skates though. Feels so good when you really nail it.

Hey, quick question as I noticed your knee pads weren't sliding up when you fell down. Which one's are they and have you had falls on them directly? Are you satisfied with them, I'm still looking for kneepads. Am happy with my elbow pads and gloves though! Thanks for the video!
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline 3 жыл бұрын
They’re the “Triple 8 Knee Saver” and the reason I like them is they’re slimmer than the other knee pads I have. The materials honestly aren’t the best, but I think I got what I paid for because they were inexpensive. I’ve never had any high speed falls (knock on wood). This video contains the only falls I’ve had in months. I only tend to fall when I’m doing things like this or flatland/wizard style tricks I haven’t mastered yet (knock on wood again!).

how has your parallel slide developed over the past year? I saw BSS parallel slide video and he says to make your body like a bow. I saw your slides and notice the times you were in a bow position is when you nailed them! I'm still on the drawing board!

It's definitely improved, but still not something I use regularly. I should get back to honing it in. I really want to be able to bust it out confidently more often. I'll add it to my list of stuff to improve!

I feel differances between the powerstop and parallel slide. Do u agree
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, definitely. Power stop is more of a "stop" and not a "slide". With power stop, only your leading foot may slide, while the trailing foot does not. With parallel slide, both skates are sliding at the same time. The parallel slide is also much harder to do than the power stop.

The problem of falling backward is The outer foot is late to slide , it causes the inner shoulder also late to bend forward.

@@rerollinginline why did you swap the 45 degree ratchet strap for the Velcro strap? We're you experiencing pain? Also, how is the arch area of the fr1 boot (low,mid,high). Nice channel. But a bit surprised by your statement :'parallel slide is the least utilitarian slide?!?' You should do more downhill 😉. For us DH riders, it is THE best (and coolest) way to brake and to stop, because if you do it fine, your braking power is bigger that other slides (you brake with all the wheels, not only the outer skate). And we are using wheels with maximum grip. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ_JqKCQe9ObZq8si=FutMTMub1ta_ceCT
