The finished eye was very reminiscent of Arleesha's rainbow skin and I love it so much. Watching you layer the colours reminded me why I _love_ transparent mediums, you really can't create the same effect with opaque mediums and I think it's what makes watercolour so special.

Hello! I'm so excited to share this new series with you. I've been pulling all nighters this week getting everything edited and ready for you :) Since this is coming out at a different time than my usual uploads, I'd be especially grateful if you'd like to do any of the things the algorithm craves (likes, comments, shares, watchtime, etc.)! Thank you so much! What are some of your favorite color mixes from this trio? Did you prefer one kangaroo over the other? What do these colors inspire you to paint? Let us know!
@windywednesday41669 ай бұрын
I found the color thumbnails extremely useful... going through the process and showing the reality of painting something once, then three more times just to set up for the second painting... that's real. It's amazing and quick to be able to do studies on a computer! So handy for value studies too. Another option is to take a scan and make copies. ❤

This is fabulous, Denise!! Thank you for sharing this discussion. I love a limited palette, and your choice here is similar to the Yellow Ochre/Burnt Sienna/Prussian Blue triad which I fondly call the “master’s palette.” You really showcase these colors beautifully and make me really want to work with it. And that’s such a good thing!

BIG vote for more info/videos on how you use digital mockups to support your physical painting process! There is a lot that tech tools can bring to gain insight into how colors might work together in physical pigment. I would love to know more and thanks in advance. BTW another DaVinci devotee here :)

I love extreme limited palettes like this. Great video! I'm excited to try this combo. One thing I like to see early in the swatching is how dark can I go when mixing all three. Like you mention the relative colour is a lot of fun to play with. But I often have trouble seeing what the darkest is before swatching so I can work the other values around it.
@InLiquidColor9 ай бұрын
Thank you, and indeed! The darkest mixes with this triad is in that second row with PB36 and PR102 :)

What a beautiful limited palette. I loved seeing all the layers painted in on the eye. I tend to be heavy handed with watercolor and I don't do enough layering. I think I like the first kangaroo better (probably because it's a bit more realistic in coloration). Yes I'd love to see digital color mockups at some point when you have time!

Totally love the series already! I also love that we can see your honest tries! The comparison of the two versions was incredibly insightful. Hope you don't stress out over the content too much, the imperfect is just as useful as the perfect and your voice over with the giggles and all was really relaxed. And therefore relaxing. :)

I loved this idea of the limited pallet and you presented it so well. The first kangaroo is my preference: even that lower right area you don't care for. It just looks like he is in the brush. Eye pupils are not black-black, despite the reference. Take a look at your own pupil or of a pet's. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I didn't have a drawing tablet until pretty recently so it definitely wasn't an option when I first started out. I'm still a baby when it comes to knowing how to use it properly, but so far it's been incredibly helpful. Really enjoyed this video! Since I (a) love using sedimentary and opaque pigments and (b) love Da Vinci paints (they're my main WC brand now) and (c) have been experimenting with different Triad palettes this week (just for the challenge; I'll never give up my split primary palette), this demo was made for me! I especially liked the eye demo. Oh, and those also happen to be 3 of my favorite Da Vinci pigments. BTW, ironically, although the Casaneo was problematic for you due to its less-pointy tip, you convinced me to buy some to try, as I dislike the super-pointy brushes that are in vogue these days, and had been really missing the rounded-tip sable "rounds" that were the rule up until the early 2000's. I treasure my old sable rounds, and wish I'd hung onto my old ox-hair ones, too. Hope to see more demo's like this one!

Hi, it is so funny that I found the art channel side of KZbin when I decided to get back to traditional painting and leave digital workflow behind! I had a program called “Color It!” When I first started digital art and it did not have layers, Photoshop 3.0 was the first layer program and I simply didn’t have the money for it! So I just worked like I did on paper but on a computer! I hope you continue to enjoy working however you do, that said I learn more from working and re-working on paper. Thank you for sharing all of your process, I am still a fan!

I haven't properly sat down and painted in... Well, a long time. Which is how you start to forget things. But seeing you lay down those washes, adding nuance in the depths and hues with each layer, made my brain go "oh, that's right. That's how you do that." It was really nice. I am really happy that you are demonstrating just how much people can do with a limited palette. I think that people can learn a lot more about colors and mixing from using a limited palette. I was fortunate enough to have taken a color theory class with a gentleman named William Libby and he assigned us various exercises with limited palettes (always our choices.) Please, please DO discuss what digital work you are doing. These days, most of my work is digital and I have found it to be a very versatile way to work (Procreate on an iPad Pro.) However, nothing replaces the sheer joy of using watercolor and gouache.

I resisted digital for sooo long. However, it's absolutely changed my process for the better, even for my traditional work!
