I used to be that locksmith. The only thing I didn't like about the video was the cop kinda smugly grinning and being like 'only under police supervision can they do this'. Meanwhile I'm here like 'Ummmmm... it's literally a day job. People do this for a living without police supervision. That aren't criminals'. To be fair, it was good of the inmates to do that. But the only reason any of this is news is the 'bad' vibes attached to being a prison inmate. These dudes could have been doing a 30 day stint for failure to pay fines or something stupid. And that they were out on work release says it probably wasn't anything serious to begin with. Feels like it'd be much better if we as a society realized there's a huge range of 'crimes' and some of them maybe don't deserve jail time or at least not the negative stigma we attach to anyone who's ever gone to jail. Also, if you want something to fear in that regard, look at your contract with things like natural gas providers.. which, as a locksmith, I found out they have a clause allowing them to hire me, in order to come to your house and unlock it without you present or knowing in the event of a gas line freeze or similar. (in fairness, it's a public safety thing... gas and water lines exploding aren't good. But I was contracted to open several rather expensive -upper middle class, anyway- homes during a bad ice storm in 2014/15, for which the company was unable to contact the residents who were on vacation or otherwise away. This DID require both a cop and a service worker present.)

@Shhhhh You want me to learn every inmates name? 🤣 We are generally speaking, how else do you want me to refer to them but "they"? Of course not every inmate has children either, some even steal to get drug money and not food. Some were taught to steal from a young age by their own mom/grandma. Of course there's thousands of different stories on how they got to that point. MY point is, there's plenty of resources out there for people struggling, places that hand out food for free, money from the state, food stamps, etc. There's no excuse for stealing "to buy food" in places that have resources in place and specially when they are fully able to work themselves. Their victims also need the money for themselves and their families... Taking food from a kid's mouth to give it to another kid... Not to mention the drama the victim had to go through, many times violence being involved. None of that is justified.

Makes sense. My uncles learned how to pick locks because they wanted into Grandpa's workshop to play with the big tools. Grandpa spent *months* thinking he was going insane because they'd forget to clean up after themselves or forget to relock the door. Then they were all watching a show together and one of the characters starting picking a lock. One of my uncles said, "That's not how you pick that sort of lock. You'd need..." and explained how it was done. Grandpa said, "How do you know that?" A little quizzing later, my uncles came clean. Grandpa was torn between being upset at them for breaking into his workshop and messing with dangerous tools and being so *gosh darn proud* of them for figuring out such a difficult lock. Now, aside from an unpaid speeding ticket, I don't *think* any of my uncles have a criminal record. Possibly because they grew up in a small town and they never did anything really *bad.* The accidental paint bomb detonation in high school was probably the worst.

This is a perfect example showing that just because someone goes to prison doesn't mean that they are monsters Edit: A lot of people seem to think that I'm saying every single prisoner is straight up good. I never said that. Also, I never said I originally thought that all prisoners were monsters. People are heavily misrepresenting my words.
@rizwanjaved17054 жыл бұрын
No one needs to see videos like these to know that. It's all about why you end up in jail or prison. If you're there for unprovoked murders other than in self defense or if they're in for being rapists, then yeah they are monsters even if you do some good to society. On the other hand, people in jail for smoking/selling weed, unpaid tickets, petty theft, and other minor crimes aren't monsters regardless of whether they help citizens or not.

@denysecoop73564 жыл бұрын
Prison used to be for rehabilitation, and it should still be that way for some offenses. If you murder, rape, or molest a child, I don’t think you should be released back into society. For everything else, we should be spending our taxes on helping them graduate from high school (if they haven’t yet,) graduate from college, or have them go to trade school while they are locked up. Instead we throw them into crowded prison (or jail) cells, where the situation is hopeless for them and instead of people coming out as better human beings (we should offer counseling as well,) we usually have them come out worse then when they went in. One more thing - privatization of prisons was the worse thing we could have done. That needs to change. We need to pay the men/women who are serving their sentence more money than we do. The last time I checked, prisoners were paid $2.00 an hour for the jobs they do, which is ludicrous. If you have no family to go home to, how are you supposed to survive when you get out? That’s one of the reasons there is such a high recidivism rate, among the other reasons I listed, in this country.

Thank you for what you do because the people that were at my prison helped me know that I am not my mistakes they went above and beyond to support all of us women there and I’m forever thankful. it’s a thankless job, so thank you! Ps I have four years of recovery, and I actually work at a domestic violence shelter to help other women so you know, passing it along.

My friends ex boyfriend was always a kind person with a ton of problems. He got wrecked every weekend. One time he ended up arrested for breaking into an elderly woman’s house who found him passed out on her living room floor. He’s now a surgeon at a respected hospital. After his father passed he turned his life around. He’s a remarkable person who gave into his potential.

Would love to see the patrol officers faces when they hear the transport van responding... The van officers had a heck of a story s they supervised the auto brake in....Good job all getting that kid out of the SUV.
