Inmotion V10F in NYC, demo Inmotion V8F, and I get to ride Hsiang's Z10!

Hey, it was nice meeting you and Janet at the demo. I was the one that awkwardly tried out the P2 bike. I've actively been looking into the Jetson Bolt on her suggestion since it'll be a bit before I can actually afford to snag a V8 (and considering how clumsy I was on two wheels, I figured I should probably take my time trying to ride a single wheel.) It might not be as glamorous as an EUC, but watching everyone ride off while I had to hoof it by foot made me realize how much I need to get one!

TheRealAlpha2 thanks- nice meeting you too. I don’t think there’s a bigger bang for you buck in terms of personal electric mobility than the Jetson Bolt. It may not be as flashy or fast as a high end EUC, but it will get you around and it won’t break the bank 😀

MikeDobbs76 The fact that I ride one was a topic of discussion at work. I was asked why and couldn’t immediately think of a reason because there are so many. But I think you two summed it up. Plus the portability. The ability to take it into a building where some PEVs aren’t allowed.

Nice video, I literally just bought the Inmotion V8F from Ewheels. Any recommendations on helmets and other gear? I've never rode an EUC and I'm scared and excited, but don't want to end up in the ER if I can help it.

Congratulations! eWheels is awesome and Jason will take care of anything you ever need. Safety gear is paramount. I never ride without a helmet, and full set of pads. Scared and excited sounds about right. Do you remember learning to ride a bike? It’s going to feel a lot like that. Scary at first, but just keep at it and you’ll be riding in no time. If you can find a friend to walk alongside you to give you something to balance on that can be a huge help in the beginning. I started off with this set of pads from Amazon. They’re not amazing, but they’re cheap and comfortable and get the job done. Good luck and post back with your progress 😀. Lucky you! The Z10 is a wheel i'd love to try one day. Btw the wheel in the white shell was the Kingsong KS18L, since the XL came out i haven't seen them sold as much.

The Creative Nomad Cool- I had never seen a white wheel before. Yeah- the Z-10 is a riot! It has such an interesting ride- and of course it looks amazing. Sadly, Ninebot no longer sells or supports their wheels in the US, so I’m nervous to get one because it’s difficult to source parts, and there would be no warranty. Hey Ninebot- if you’re listening, bring the Z-10 back to the US. 😀

I have been riding my V8f in the snow But this morning its 7°. So my battery would hate me if i did and the windchill gets worse. Love wheelsn im old and my two wheels have improved my balance better then medical therapy.

That's awesome! From what I understand the V8/V8F series is one of the best waterproofed wheels in the game, and a solid choice for the snow. You're probably right about that 7 degree weather though 🤣. I agree, while not necessarily good exercise, I find riding these really contributed to overall balance which is super important to maintain as we age. Thanks for watching, and keep riding 🤙

New to EUC, I am stuck between a Kingsing 16s or Inmotion VF8 ...recommendation ?

There’s no single right wheel for everyone- and people tend to recommend what they own. They’re both great choices. I know the 16S has a lot of fans. Personally, I really like the fit and finish of Inmotion wheels- they just seem a cut above in terms of overall product quality to me, that may or may not be as important to you. A V8 is going to be a lot cheaper than a 16S, and for the extra money you do get more range and a higher top speed. The V8F is kind of in the middle of the two price and range wise, with about the same top speed as the 16S. If you want to go fast, the Kingsong may make you happier for longer, as Inmotion is more concervative about limiting speed as the battery drops. If you want to cruise around 15-16, make friends along the way and meet people, you may prefer the Inmotion. It’s super cool looking at night and a very nice riding and looking wheel in general.

Can the v8f play music? Bluetooth speakers for music?

I don't think so. The original V8 has a speaker for speed alerts, but as far as I know it cannot play music through Bluetooth. I believe the same is true of the V10. It's easy to bring a portable bluetooth speaker clipped to your belt or backpack though, so if the V8 checks all of your other boxes, I wouldn't consider that a deal-breaker.

Hey Jimmy- thanks for watching! Short answer: I'm sure you'd be happy with either wheel. Longer answer: It's hard to recommend a specific wheel for anyone. Everyone has unique needs, and every wheel has pros and cons. I learned on the V8, and absolutely loved it. It's a super fun, nimble, and LIGHT little wheel. Very easy to through in the backseat or trunk of a car, cary up or down stairs, or tuck under a table in a restaurant. The V10F on the other hand has an incredibly smooth ride. The bigger tire absorbs bumps better and gives a more stable feeling than the V8. So much so that in fact when I first got my V10F I didn't like it. I felt like I had to muscle the wheel around, whereas the V8 responded to even the slightest input. Hundreds of miles later and I am in love with my V10F. If I had to keep just one at this point I'd keep the V10F, because the ride quality is better, and the range is close to double. I really enjoy going for 20-30 mile rides, and with the V8 range anxiety starts to kick in. Two things to consider: 1) Do you intend to use the wheel as a last mile commuter, or do you think you'll want to do more long range rides? The V8 is much lighter than the V10F. If you have lots of stairs in your commute, the V10F could get heavy. 2) If money isn't an issue, there's a general school of thought in the EUC community that you should buy the most wheel you can afford. 3) How committed to riding EUC are you? The V8F will let you get started in the hobby for less $, and you'll have a fun spare wheel to ride on or let friends try when you upgrade. Hope that helps a little. MikeDobbs76 thank you very much for your answer I very appreciate. I start maybe 5 months before with the INMOTION V5F and now I want more speed and also range . If I want go to my work (7,5 km ) and the V5F is maybe to slow . I have few stair in my office 40 or 50 and also I take the subway 🚇 . The 2 wheel now have more or less the same price 1299€ for the V10F and 1190€ for the V8F . After read your answer I go with the V10F , for the actual price is a good deal . Thanks for watching! I'm not the most qualified to ask, but I'll give it a go. I think there are a lot of things to consider when buying a first wheel. How easy it will be to learn on might depend on a lot of things. Personally, I think the V8/V8F is a solid choice for a first wheel, but others will tell you it's too underpowered and you should spend more because you'll outgrow it fast. I really enjoyed learning on a lighter wheel, and I think the skinnier tire will develop better core riding skills (although it may make it a little harder to balance at first). If I could get into this sport again, I'd buy a 16" used wheel from someone local. You're going to drop your first wheel a bunch, and I would be heartbroken to scratch up a new $2000 wheel. I like Inmotion for a lot of reasons, but Kingsong makes some very nice wheels in this category as well. Once you learn to ride you'll have a better sense of what kind of rider you are, and you'll be in a position to test out some other wheels if some nice locals let you take them for a spin. That's a much better time to drop more money on a better wheel. Where are you located? Any local riders? You should join the Electric Unicycle dot org Facebook group too. Good luck with it!
