The more details the better. Maintenance and repair videos are so under-rated. If this becomes the focus of the channel, I'd expect there to be a long steady growth in views over time because we're still in the nascent period of growth this industry. If these videos are designed to be relevant both now and 20 years from now, then they become more relevant over time. {I plan to keep my wheels running at least that long.} This type of content is anti-ephemeral. so the algorithm will disfavor it, but it will pay off long after the marketing-hype channels cease to be relevant. This channel could be a sleeper! 🚀

Thank you VERY much for this thorough instructional video. I just completed changing out the bald tire and tube on my V12 HS after ~2400 miles on the original tire. I knew this would be a big task, and it was! Fortunately, there was no guessing about the steps due to your clear instructions. One note for those that may read this comment: When installing the final tire bead (with the tube inside the tire) use the tire levers with the "spoon" facing up (aka smiley face). I learned the hard way that point down is much more likely to pinch the tube! Oh one more scary detail, I discovered that two of the 5mm cap screws that hold the pedal to the wheel had completely failed (heads missing). Obviously if the remaining two had failed, it would have been catastrophic. I replaced all 8 (4 per side) cap screws on my wheel. This should be a regular check for all V12 riders.

Great video. However I would notice just few details to make it perfect. Like not pulling the hall sensor connector together with the phase cables. Instead, it is better to just detach it gently by pressing its latch. Check your motor cables since one of the insulation cover is damaged (easy to cover with 3M rubber). The two top silver plates that hold the cables, have a rounded and a sharp side. Put the rounded or softer edges side against the cables. Before putting a new inner tube, always check the inside of the outer tire for nails etc to prevent punctures on the new tube. And at the end, it is always a good idea to re-calibrate the motor with the Inmotion app. It is very hard to attend each and every details when making these tutorials. However, this is by far the best I have seen. Great job. Thanks a lot.

This was long and tedious but incredibly valuable step by step. I bought a second hand v12hs with 800 miles on it and I rode about 100 more miles before I had surgery recently.i should be cleared to ride again in 3 weeks but I look at my poor v12 in the corner with her old stock worn tire. I'm going to splurge and get a seat and a new tire and tube. I could have a shop do the work but hell I got 3 weeks and might as well do it and learn it and at least can say ya know how. Thanks so much bruv this video is A + effort and quality. Godspeed!

@@2cells1pack Just got around to finishing the tire change. It was a success! Your video was very clear and helpful. The only thing that was a little tough for me was pulling up the case from the wheel. It didn’t seem to come off and I second guessed myself that I didn’t have all the screws taken off. Finally realized it was just stuck and was able to get it off with a little persuasion. I was very careful with screws with magnetic plate, but realized there was one screw missing from inside side panel. I ended up leaving off one bottom otter shell screw by foot plate. It doesn’t seem to be a problem. Thanks again!

@@2cells1pack your video is better than another one that I found earlier. A little suggestion, based on my own struggle, is that the video better mentions that we shall spread the shell outwards WIDE ENOUGH (1 inch or so), and/or show a close-up picture of the motor surface right behind the hanger. Back then I was unaware of that clamp structure, and it took me quite some time to figure out.

@@2cells1pack I succeeded on my 6th inner tube. Wearing gloves made a huge difference. Unfortunately the shell leans left when the wheel is upright. I don't know if this is due to the crash that broke my inner tube or from reassembly. Is there something I should do to check/fix this? Thank you!

It looks like you have blue Locktite on the pedal hanger screws going in (16:01)? If so, do you have a product recommendation/Amazon link for the specific Locktite? Likewise, are those the only screws that get Locktite? (like are they the only metal to metal for this install?) Are the elongated hex drivers necessary for reaching some of the bolts, or would standard short length ones (like the hex sockets sets you have linked) also work? Also, in the description, there's a link for a torque wrench; does anything need to be torqued to a specific force? Is the impact wrench you are using set to any specific setting (to tighten/not over tighten properly)? Any Amazon link/recommendations for the pry tool? How about the tape, if that needs replacing? Any recommendations for silicone seal, if that needed redoing? Or wire insulation tape to redo any frayed wired noticed once inside? Finally, any tips for smoothing out the sharpness in the rim valve hole that seems to be popping so many tubes? I'd guess the whole tire would need to be removed to smooth it on each side, huh? Would it be possible instead to put some kind of nylon sleeve in that hole to buffer the tube rubber to metal contact? Thanks for the video and any extra hints!

I dont have one for the blue loctite - but make sure you get a real one. A lot of the ones on amazon are fakes i believe. I think the standard ones should be fine as well - the only hard to reach screws are the ones on the pedal hanger. Torque wrench - only used for certain models where manufacturer releases spec (which is rare) Impact wrench - it's a ryobi, so not strong at all. I would be very careful if you use a strong impact wrench like Milwaukee, Dewalt, etc. Pry Tool - you can also use a screwdriver as it's just for the pads that you need to pry. Not sure you need a dedicated pry tool. You can add some silicone to the covers that cover the phase wires and battery cables - but from my experience there isn't any dirt/water intrusion in that area to begin with to make cause for concern. Sharpness of rim valve - only appliees to the HT version of the rim. We use either dremel or a sander to smoothen it out. Can also cut up a piece of old tube to slip over the valve for more protection.

How would you rate the stock tire? Any recommendations for aftermarket ones?

Any reason that the waterproof gastet doesn't get fresh application of water sealant where the cables have been pulled out and re inserted? Is it waterproof enough as it is?
@2cells1pack
@2cells1pack 7 ай бұрын
Couple reasons: 1) To properly reapply the silicone, you'd have to remove all old silicone before applying new one 2) The goal of the silicone is to remove the air gaps which allow water to go in - being that the gasket is internal and covered by multiple layers (which prevent water intrusion to begin with) when you put the gasket back on - the "cut" in the silicone when you removed will match up perfectly when you replace it - meaning that the "air gap" isn't significant. With where the connector is, and probability of water getting there, splashing on top of the rubber gasket - the probabilities are close to zero. If you submerge your wheel and water seeps in - the silicone won't do anything as the bottom of the seal isn't watertight either.

I changed the tire today, and everything went smoothly as in your video. However, during the test, after reconnecting all the cables and trying to start it, the wheel immediately accelerated to almost 95 km/h. I had the bike on a stand, so the wheel wasn't touching the ground. It was extremely dangerous as it seemed like it wouldn't stop. Then a warning message appeared, and fortunately, it shut off. Now I'm afraid to start it again! What could I have done wrong? All the plugs and cables look perfect...

You really should tell people to put it in transport mode before you do any of this. When I turned my wheel on it did indeed “go crazy” and broke the handle. If it had been in transport mode I could have just checked for errors instead of wresting it into submission in panic mode. Had no errors before I changed this tire. The bonding isn’t going very well.

Hey great video! I think I mixed the phase wires up because when I turned it on it started vibrating very erratically and I think it said, “please repair”. I tried switching the phase wires but now the thing won’t even turn on. I have the blue and green wire on the left side and the hull sensor on the right side. I bought my wheel brand new this year so I think there are very slight differences within the top part of the wiring. Any suggestions?
