Thank you for highlighting Inna's story - many of us were following it from the beginning when the war began, as her Ukrainian language channel predates the conflict. We are very relieved to see she is okay for the time being, and hope the future is brighter for her and all Ukrainians.

Conor, thanks for another great video. I have a question about Kherson. What percentage of the population there would you say identifies as Russian or is at least Russian-sympathetic? I find it highly disturbing that Russia is circulating Rubles and issuing passports there with the intentions of just absorbing Kherson without even one of their fake referendums. It’s a disgusting tactic and combined with the nonstop propaganda I’m sure they are being fed, I hope they won’t start to accept that horrible fate.

In my experience it’s lower than in other parts of the south and east of Ukraine … before the war around 15-20% for Kherson oblast (looking at the election results in 2019) and with this occupation it will be a lot less than that

Maybe they were under the pressure? I mean a lot of people have been following what’s has been going on in Ukraine since 2004. Also , a lot of people know who lived in Ukraine, we also know how present day Ukraine has been created by Bolsheviks and communists after- that’s exactly the term created. You can’t fool us , this too shall pass. Praying for peace among brothers

It was so good the see Inna again and learn that she was able to escape Kherson. She will be much safer where she is. I see that she is very distressed about her father's situation. This is too common today in Ukraine. My heart goes out to her father, and of course her as well. A common theme the Ukrainian people have was brought up. If you abstract their problem up one or two layers, it becomes "prove you are innocent of being Russian." That was Putin's claim. Putin does have a valid perspective IF you are Russian. I am not and I don't believe his claim is valid. As I put myself in Inna shoes I went, I get this. She is trying to prove she is innocent of the charge of being Russian. That is impossible. At the highest level of abstraction, you cannot unprove a lie about yourself. That is why jurisprudence is based on you are innocent until proven guilty. She has a very strong counter in that she has stopped speaking Russian. But IF you are seeing this from the (not valid) perspective of Russia, she is on a fool's journey and she cannot win against the false accusation. But that accusation is true only from the Russian POV. Of course, you put the Russian lie to bed nicely with the fact that most people in Irland speak English but are very much Irish! I loved that parallelism. Just because you speak a language means nothing. I am fond of saying it this way. I belong to those where my heart is. You are Irish because that is where Conor's heart is. Inna is Ukrainian because that is where her heart is. The language is totally irrelevant if you ask the simple question. Where do these people have their hearts? This war makes this completely clear. They are Ukrainian. If you fight and die for a country, that is where your heart is.

I was born in Kherson and lived most of my life there. Last two years I used to study in Kyiv, and since the beginning of russian invasion, I used to stay there a couple of days as well. After that, I moved to west of Ukraine, unlike my mom and grandma, who couldn't leave Kherson for two months. It was too dangerous. But living under occupation was also not so easy. When you see russian soldiers on the streets and hear explosions on the background everyday - It's so scary and depressing. My grandma used to go to the rallies against russian aggression every week, and one time she was captured by russians and taken to "educational talk". They didn't hurt her, but they used to threaten her and talk about classic propagandistic stamps about "nazis in ukrainian government", "genocide of russian speaking people", "liberation of Ukraine" and other bullshit. My mom and grandma safely left Kherson a month ago and at the moment live with my brother in Germany. Living under occupation is terrible. I never forgive those people for everything they do to me, my family, my city, and my whole country. I'm so sorry for my dear Kherson and I'm waiting for a moment when our troops free it. Thank you so much for spreading information about war for international audience. You do a fantastic job for our people. Glory to Ukraine!💙💛

Do not give up on humanity and those that speak Russian. You can't put a wall between people . Braking up families isn't in your heart. 9 different borders touch his county (God rest his soul) Remember, Humanity is the last line of defense. Contact and communicate with more people from more varying perspectives. There are many divided interests and agendas. Kherson was not destroyed because Russian took control and unlike Maripoul, was not laid waste because the Ukraine forces did not get the chance! Azov lads did not give a crap about the people . More than willing to see the destruction. Russian logic is for to have as little damage as possible. Not in their interests to willfully destroy the cities and infrastructure. It is for the Ukraine forces in cities and regions that have many pro Russian population. Often about 20% pf the people can be Pro Ukraine, 20% Pro Russian or 60-70% don't care and just want peace and normal life, As long as Russia retains control of Kherson and the Ukraine forces are prevented from shelling it things will get back to a normal life.
