As a guy from Naz"s home city Dunfermline in Scotland and them being family friends my whole life I can tell you EXACTLY how Dan got that voice. In the mid/late 60s the band that Naz became were actually a soul band and Dan had a beautiful soul voice. One Friday night, the night before a gig at a local venue, he went out to that venue with a mate and drank a BOTTLE AND A HALF OF BRANDY to himself! Needless to say he was VERY drunk and passed out at home. When he woke up extremely hung over he found he had actually BURNED his vocal chords with the vast quantity of brandy! After that, he had the IMMENSE rock growl he lived off the rest of his life almost.

Love Hurts by Nazareth is one of the greatest Rock songs of all time. It was first done by the Everly Brothers in 1960 and has been covered by many others over the years, including Joan Jett and Cher. There's even a disco version of it that should have never *ever* seen the light of day. Loved your reaction and hope you look a little deeper into the Nazareth rabbit hole. Another Rock classic of theirs is *Hair of the Dog*, which is a banger. *This Flight Tonight*, originally sung by Joni Mitchel, is another cover that they made their own. When Joni heard it, she said it was no longer her song, she liked it that much.

Nazareth guitar player at the time was Manny Charlton, he preferred playing a Gibson, the guitar he is playing in this video is a Gibson SG, similiar to the one Angus Young of AC/DC plays. Manny liked the feel of the Gibson, he bounced around with an SG and Les Paul, both are amazing guitars.

I grew up listening to Nazareth in the 70's, with singer Dan McCafferty, and have seen them in concert 3 times. He does a lot of hard Rock songs, but if you love the ballads, I will suggest, "I Want To Do Everything For You", "I Don't Want To, Go On Without You", "Down Home Girl", or "Carry Out Feelings"..
@zarakahler49505 ай бұрын
The guitar played by Manny Charlton is an Eko Indy, made in Italy, which was based on the Gibson SG, but the control layout, pickguard shape and truss-rod adjuster placement are different from anything Gibson ever produced.

@@InnaSoloMusic Dan Mccaferty said once in an interview, Dream On is for him the difficultest song from all their songs to sing. A great song.
