Where does the chemical imbalance come in.
@WuWeiWisdom5 жыл бұрын
Hi Betty, Thanks for your question. The concept of a chemical imbalance that most people refer to are those released by your adrenal glands a surge of hormones including adrenaline, cortisol with increases heart rate and elevates blood pressure. Some people also refer to it as 'fight or flight'. The Inner Child work is understanding the 'switch' or start of the process which has its roots in what you think or believe. Recognizing that you have come through those experiences shows not only resilience but also the strength of your Shen (spirit). What’s stopping me from expressing my creativity: Jazz piano: not being good enough, how it may make people feel as they compare themselves to me and judge themselves as not good enough, that I might be disturbing someone with my music (not everyone likes jazz), the vow that I will only play for myself when no one else is there to listen. Football/soccer (how it might make others feel as they compare themselves to me, no one likes the ball being put through their legs, not being good enough, fear of making mistakes (which can result in a conceded goal), the vow that I will give the ball most often to other team mates so they can shine e.g. score a goal instead of me. Another fantastic video thanks - perhaps one of the most important ones for me so far. time to check out that inner child meditation.

You will recognize your inner child when you go into a toxic relationship and your inner child will literally break down hysterically, that’s what I experienced it’s like the person I was dealing with triggered my emotions from childhood and looking back it just came back to me.. So what you’re saying is we don’t use the words “I feel” but instead “I think” when addressing things? I don’t think many people can control the inner child especially when it’s not healed David you are literally speaking to my inner child There is nothing more liberating then being responsible for your own feelings, creating your own happiness in yourself and having this peaceful bliss and once you understand this you will know what life is about - the only person you need is you ( this is why I am happier alone and relationships only bring me down) But the only way to be with someone is if they’re adding to your happiness

What is stopping me? Fear of abandonment again. Although I have a huge background of abuse, sexual and emotional, verbal, abandonment seems to be my biggest issues. As far as feelings go? I don't feel much. I feel hurt, and depression. I do not know when I am angry. I have no clue what that feels like. I am 50 and still look outside for a mom and I find them, only to be abandoned again. Even by professionals.

Hello Candace, Thanks for your comments. As we said on the video what you have explained is concerning self-responsibility. When you do this you feelings and emotions will change. You cannot abandon yourself! Although you say you do not feel much, you then go on to explain just how much feelings are running your life: fear, hurt, depression etc. Please have another look at our videos on the Inner Child work, then ask yourself why you are still searching for outside validation and support? Hello David, I am confused. It seems the dominant purpose of developing this connection with your inner child is to learn to the gain the power and autonomy arising out of one's ability to accept responsibility. However, you've begun this discussion by pointing out that a child has experiences that are emotionally overwhelming and very disorganizing. The child then makes a vow (incorrectly, you imply) that their must be something wrong with him or her. But isn't this vow, this stating that "I am to blame," the first instance of a child's taking responsibility? I mean, when I think of someone's accepting responsibility, I usually think of them accepting blame. I have a suspicion of where I might be confused, if at all, but I would like to hear your take on this apparent inconsistency. (Sorry, but as I continue watching I feel prompted to add to this.) I should mention that I have dealt with addiction to benzodiazapines for over twenty years. In the recovery scene, what you find is a seemingly inveterate and stubborn refusal to acknowledge that one's behaviors arose out of oneself. In other words, among addicts and alcoholics, what you often find is a fierce aversion to acknowledging that your problem isn't your parents, or the police, of the judges and lawyers and corrections officers, or your girlfriend's (or lack thereof); rather, your problem is centered in you. In short, we see a fierce aversion to acknowledging that there is indeed something wrong with me. Once that crucial insight is acheived, the process of recovery can then begin. Then again, on a deeper note, I should point out that the underlying motive for taking the drugs or alcohol is the desire to "fix" me in some way, which of course presupposes my awareness, however dim, that there is something wrong with me. So we end up with both addiction and recovery therefrom being rooted in the tangled web of thoughts about whether there is something wrong with oneself. But the basic thinking seems to rest on the following syllogism: There is something wrong with me. If there is something wrong with me, then I ought to change me. I can easily change me by ingesting chemicals or by the more difficult route prescribed in, say, the Twelve Steps. Therefore, I must change what is wrong with me by ingesting chemicals or by changing my lifestyle. In this view, the notion that there is something wrong with me becomes the seed from which the personality is encouraged to change, to grow, to mature and blossom into the fullest expression of its highest potential. In other words, if I am enough as I am, if there is nothing wrong with me, then what is left to motivate me to change and grow?
@WuWeiWisdom5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce, Thanks for your question - I'm replying here to your original (unedited) version... A vow is a solemn promise committing yourself to a prescribed role or course of action. So, saying there's something wrong with me or I am to blame becomes your prescribed role and course of action for the rest of your life unless it is challenged and changed. Taking responsibility does not equate to taking the blame. Taking responsibility in the Wu Wei Wisdom Inner Child process is about having authentic personal integrity, speaking and acting with truth and honesty. You would have to supply more details for when you consider a child responsible or should be blamed for the actions and resulting circumstances created by adults or events out of their control. I do not see any inconsistency in this teaching. I hope that explanation helps with your meditations. David
