I've seen a lot of ambience and prolonged instrumental videos titled "Norse" this and "viking" that without ever sounding anything like it. This one checks all the boxes for Norse and viking.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Even though I can't claim that this is original Viking music, but more to the fantasy side, I try to use instrumentation and melodies as close as I can from the sources that are available but with a modern sound. Thank you again so much for your support! 🌲✨

Not much truly viking here. Throat singing is native to central asia and talharpa is baltic.
@hanswei24842 ай бұрын
Talharpa aka tagelharpa, or Finnish jouhikko, dates back to 15 - 16 century Scandinavia. throat singing originates from turko-mongol tribes but reasons why it originates is mainly from Chinese texts talking about northern tribes (which mainly is also Mongolian tribes) singing like wolfs. Taking in consideration the viking travels i wouldn't be surprised that at one point they met with some of central asia tribes and exchanged some things including cultural values. (Thats speculative though). The singing out specific letters are common to Baltic and Slavic tribes. For example Latvians thats "e" or "ē".
@Tolmalion2 ай бұрын
@@hanswei2484 Talharpa has nothing to do with actual norsemen of early middle ages. Its Finno-Baltic instrumemt of more recent centuries and the only connection to Scandinavia is via Swedish diasphora (who most likely adoped local instrument). So as I said before, its not very "viking" which doesn't mean I don't enjoy this music.
@mistsofserenity2 ай бұрын
I'm really happy that you enjoyed my music! To be honest I wasn't aiming for something historical correct, since apart the talharpa, there are many modern instruments like synths and percussion that wouldn't fit into actual Viking music anyway. Mostly it's inspired by the usual bands and imagination from my side. P.s It's not actually throat singing, it's low tone singing with a bit of groal 😄

Remove reverb from drum tracks! What in the fuck were you thinking?!
@mistsofserenity2 ай бұрын
Hahaha to be honest I ve added little to none reverb to most percussion. It's mostly room mics either on the vsts or the real ones.
