As someone who spent millions of taxpayer dollars, I can say that the government has no clue how to spend money. It's terrible at it. The VA could pay every veteran a million dollars each with all of the money it wastes. I've always been an advocate of a smaller federal government, and minimal spending. I was a huge supporter of Ron Paul and his "audit the fed" efforts. The thing that you don't seem to get is that Musk is not calling for reduced government spending because all of the companies he is involved with recieve absurd amounts of subsidies and tax insentives. He benefits from government contracts and would never want reduced government spending. What he is talking about is Regan-style deregulation. He's very clear on that. A rich business man calling for deregulation, who recieves huge subsidies from taxpayer dollars, and may shape how we spend money in the future. Maybe I don't understand what you're trying to say. Are you trying to support him, or arguing against him?

Musk knows how to get things done! I live about a mile from his ever-growing companies footprint in Bastrop TX. Among other things, he/his people, in less than 1 month widened the public road outside his facilities. Meanwhile, just down the road from this, the government agency responsible for improving a literal death trap intersection isn’t expected to complete that project for many months (in the meantime we are faced with an even greater death trap during the construction phase)! Let’s re-elect President Trump and allow Mr. Musk, Mr. Kennedy, and many others help (together with us) improve the country!

There is a process for removing regulations, at least in the US Army. I was in charge of removing outdated R&D regulations. The problem with removing just one regulation is that you have to get every part of the Army that was involved in creating the regu lation to sign off on eliminating it. That process takes about three years! No one wants to spend their time walking a memo for signature around to do this.

Gov. hiring freeze Jan 7. Call for a 10% reduction in all department spending/budgets to be accomplished first year. Do again for a second year, 10% cut across the board to be accomplished in that 1 year time. 2 years you have 20 % reduction and young people not looking for a gov. job, but looking to be in private sectors. Cost cutting....Step one, contact each Govonors that DOE will be returned to state level with DOE monitoring results of their progress. The state files a report, DOE compiles and place on internet for all to review. Point being what works for one state might be workable plan in another. DOE scaled down to 1000, or less. Those currently employed, given one year notice to find a state job , reporting to the Governor. Federal collections of taxes from the states, allocated to IRS and funding DOE, would be discontinued. This would leave the funding in the state budget to use as they see fit.
