Imelda Staunton said that they had been filming the series out of order, but this was always intended as the last day of filming. To End the show in 2005 at the wedding. However on Imeldas second to last day of filming, they got note, that the Queen was sick and "prepare for the worst" Imelda went home, having 10 days of holiday, before filming this scene. When she got home, the Queen died and weirdly her (month earlier planed) 10 days holiday, became the 10 days of moaning. When she returned to set, they slighly changed the end and all of this was done in ONE take.

I think it might be construed that the young Elizabeth in uniform can signify that she found Elizabeth Windsor one last time, and saw her acknowledge that perhaps, in a way they were always one in the same, Elizabeth Windsor knew her duty.

I think the type of show that the crown evolved into was different , and that was the issue. From a historical political drama, to being about a dysfunctional family. When the Crown is about the conflict between the Queen and the Government, I think people enjoyed it more…than when it became about the families inner turmoil.

the series is so convincing that for a moment I thought the queen would actually resign, a free ending
The fact that for the most part, they the writers got the end their show on their own terms was very good. And my fact that I've followed this show for the past 8 years and actually got a satisfying ending.

Before watching part 2 of Season 6, I rewatched the whole series. The Crown has been a wonderful series. It may not be the truth but it gave us a glimpse of how it is in that kind of family. I expected the girl who played little Lilibeth to be included because it seems like she was the happiest before the abdication. CRAZY FACT: Imelda Staunton was scheduled to have a 10-day break from shooting the last season of The Crown when she heard the news. That 10-day break coincided with the 10 days of mourning for the Queen. The day after the funeral, when she's back to work, it was difficult for everyone in the set to look at her.

How I would rank the seasons: 6) Season 3 5) Season 5 4) Season 6 3) Season 1 2) Season 2 1) Season 4

all right so my ranking is: 1) season 2 (favourite episode: dear mrs kennedy) 2) season 4 (favourite episode: 48:1) 3) season 1 (favourite episode: hyde park corner) 4) season 6 (favourite episode: ritz ofc) 5) season 3 (favourite episode: aberfan) 6) season 5 (favourite episode: annus horribilis) and as to the last episode, i liked it actually. I think it was a good ending and, together with ritz and the episode about tony blair vs the queen (6th?), it felt like "the old" the crown (seasons 1-4)

While I do feel that season 6 was rushed, and I've already said that they should have been having 2 or 3 additional episodes starting in season 4 to let the story breath better, I do feel that the show ended well, especially compared to how a lot of shows have ended like Game of Thrones or The Sopranos. As for my favorite episodes, I'm with you because I loved watching Princess Margaret's journey in this series overall. I feel like the Queen is the character everyone shows up for, but it's Princess Margaret that catches the eye.

I know you filmed these earlier, but Harry and William are not on good terms now, as you've seen in the news. Harry left the family, and there is a lot of strain with his book and the Scobie book coming out now that puts Kate and Charles in a bad light. At Charles's coronation, you saw that Harry barely interacted with his family, especially William. It's sad because their children are growing up separately, and they are both husbands and fathers on different continents. Hopefully, one day, they will reconcile and become close again.

15:32 When Elizabeth said "What about the woman I put aside?" and her younger self replied "Elizabeth Windsor is long gone" I thought they meant her Claire Foy self, like the housewife-of-a-navy life version of Elizabeth. Then at 15:32 when her even younger self showed up, I realized "Oh, she meant that one." the one that Margaret said she "locked up" when she became Queen, because that's the one that had a night out. It's so sad.

My Crown rankings: 1. Season 1 2. Season 4 3. Season 2 4. Season 3 5. Season 5 5. Season 6 Favorite episode of each Season 1 - Hyde Park Corner Though I think An Act of God is a masterpiece, I don’t think there’s an episode that tops Hyde Park Corner. It is the most memorable and most consequential episode of The Crown so far. Season 2 - Dear Mrs. Kennedy This was the most memorable to me, though I disliked the portrayal of the Kennedys in this. Season 3 - Imbroglio I believe the Charles and Camilla story was the most interesting to me in this season. And this episode seemed to be the most consequential for going forward. Season 4 - 48:1 To be honest, I didn’t have so much interest in the Charles/Diana story as much as I did for Thatcher’s story. This episode was the most entertaining to me, and the culminating tension between the Queen and Thatcher was so intriguing to me. Season 5 - Impatiev House I really loved the flashback to see King George V and his wife, a younger Queen Mary (the grandmother from the first season). And I already had an interest in the Romanovs. Season 6 - Ritz Though it was incredibly painful, I loved to see Manville’s Margaret get her own episode. The character really took a backseat as the show went on, and so it was nice for her to return. Loved the flashback scenes and man the young actresses were just Claire Foy and Vanessa Kirby clones! It was fun sticking with you all these seasons. I wish you the best of luck with going forward with other passions. Thank you for the reactions.

Even though I knew Olivia and Claire would show up, I wasn't really sure how they would make it work. But as soon as Olivia appeared on screen I was literally screaming with excitement and joy. I love Imelda but I really missed seeing Olivia as the queen. The fact that they found a way to include Olivia and Claire again and put all three versions of the queen together in the last few minutes, it was strange but at the same time so touching, it was like the dream fulfilled that I never had but I am glad that this was the closure. You can see in the eyes of all three how difficult it must be to put themselves back in Queen Elizabeth's shoes after her death, it must have been difficult to let go of that idea, especially for Imelda. This series will always remain in my heart, and also the photo of Olivia and Claire, on her knees, applauding Imelda on the set. Three queens of acting. I still have a hard time believing it's over, after following the news of filming or casting for years, a part of me probably feels that next year in November there will be another season of The Crown. Although here I saw in the comments that Peter Morgan is planning a series prequel, which I will surely see. Stephi, thank you for all your reactions and the effort in each one of them, I really enjoyed them and I had fun watching them, that's why I plan to continue subscribing to your channel to see your next content.

As for your question about William and Harry's relationship today. We don't know the details, but apparently they are no longer speaking and have been for a few years. According to tabloids and "official family sources" there is a move by some family members (like Charles and Kate) to bring the two closer together and become united again, but I think it's something that will take a while. I think the bad things that happened in the past are still recent, and William didn't like his brother exposing his family problems to the general public and making money from it (documentary, series, book). I hope it will be resolved one day and it doesn't end like the relationship between the queen's father and her brother ended (After Edward abdicated the throne the relationship between him and the family became very complicated)

Realizing the symbolic death that paralleled how they showed Margaret's death and how the song she chose started playing, I also realized that Philip and her moment were that of spirits departing, their choice of words having double meaning. Getting a good ending for a show is hard. There's gotta be a balance of the writing fitting the narrative of the story told so far. With TV it's always tricky thinking about it from a point of view that this is an IP that still brings attention to some extent and could be revived, so ending it while still leaving the door somewhat ajar. A moment that can be seen as good or cowardly because the writing doesn't feel confident in itself to be what it needs to be. I'm a historian fan so I've been along since the beginning and stuck around even when...well, the show is about the Crown and for so long the Crown was about Elizabeth and that's what we got used to. Season 5 and 6 paying more attention to others isn't odd, the Crown has always shown other characters and always circles back to Elizabeth but I think the previous seasons still held the shroud of...period drama. The closer it got to the 90's and 00's, the more recognizable things became to the time I was alive made it different in some ways....It could have been bolder in some aspects I think but given all that's happened in the last couple of years and how Netflix has a history of barely getting through 3 seasons, I have to be a happy camper that we got an ending at all and that it was good enough. Thank you for your reactions! They've been fun and made me feel like I wasn't the only one watching this show!

Totally agree. Seasons 5 and 6 were much more contemporary, and it made it harder for me to connect with the show. A major reason I loved the early seasons of the show was due to the historical storylines and the things I never knew much about. I think seasons 5 and 6 could have been better if we got more into the political turmoil and how the family dynamics were affected (like the Prince David Nazi scandal in season 2). Season 5 Ipatev House, and season 6 Ritz episodes were the strongest of each season for me. My favourite episodes for each other season are as below: Season 1 episode 2 Season 2 episode 6 Season 3 episode 10 Season 4 episode 7 And my favourite season overall was season 1 - the amount of intrigue and history that was included really drew me in. My least favourite was season 6 - was just too close to present day and I couldn’t connect with it the way I had in earlier seasons. Thank you for doing all of these reaction videos. I love your commentary and post show breakdowns. You’re fabulous.

My seasons ranking would be: 6. Season 5 💀💀 5. Season 6 (it is way better than 5th but too much of diana and i got bored tbh) 4. Season 3 (amazing) 3. Season 2 (wonderful) 2. Season 1 (changed my life) 1. Season 4 (this was the crown at its best state fr and also changed my life) All I'm gonna say is that this show is my favorite show ever like ever fr and it's amazing how 5th season being the worst of all, it's still better than many shows out there. However, I feel like they dragged Diana storyline too much, they should've ended it at season 5th and leave the last season for more storylines and plots, but well it is what it is... And one thing I loved about the crown was about how it was always a thing between the queen and her prime ministers, but the last two seasons was too much of diana that we didn't even get to see downing street like almost never, it became a show about diana instead of the queen and that kinda made me mad a bit whatever, at least we got an episode about the pm in the last season... With all these said, I love this show and i'm rewatching it all over again periodt and yeah i cried a lot this season 😭

Honestly, the show's trajectory from a celebrated start to a lackluster finish might mirror the current state of the monarchy. The show garnered great attention when it first began, paralleling how the monarchy once captivated public attention. However, just as the show's appeal waned over time, so too has the public's fascination with the monarchy. This change in perception could likely be attributed to the influence of the internet and the expansion of media in general. Now, the royal family is perceived less as mysterious and unattainable, but rather as "the people who spend the tax dollars". The accessibility of information has demystified the once-revered institution, which I think in turn reflects the overall interest in the show over time. Anyway, going to miss your reactions, Steffi!! Been watching for years and am happy to have been on The Crown journey with you!

THIS is going to be a hard one! Words that come to mind are "epic" and "family saga". That being said, I loved it! The only negative is getting used to the new cast every two seasons. The first two seasons with Claire and Matt were my favorite. Margaret was young and full of passion for life and all it had to give. Seasons 3 and 4 (although they DID have merit) were my least favorite. Seasons 5 and 6 were redemptive (in my opinion) for Prince Philip, and I think Jonathan Price nailed it. HE was the glue that held the family together, while Queen held the COUNTRY together. The role of Queen Elizabeth; Claire, Olivia and Imelda. Prince Philip; Matt, Jonathan, Tobias. Princess Margaret; Victoria, Lesley, and Helena. EVERYTHING was so well done, from the wardrobe of the different eras, to the structures and the treasures and HISTORY stored within. The scenery was BEAUTIFUL and awe-inspiring! LOVED some episodes more than others, but pleased overall. WON'T watch a Season 7 at this point, but never say never! Sorry for this being so lengthy, but I think you know that about me by now! Thank you for watching and reacting to so many programs and series! That's called a "body of work", and a bright spot on ANY resume. You do an EXCELLENT job of it, girl; and I really feel you have a knack for it. Thank you, thank you!! It's been great! ♥

The finale didn't gag me, but it was good, i dont think they ruined the show at all, however the last 2 season lost their groove because of 2 reasons: they stopped focusing on the political / foreign affairs aspect and started shifting the show more towards the inner drama of the royal family, and the second reason is that because it showed more recent events, that people have strong feelings about, it lost the escapism of previous seasons.

From what I understand, Harry and William will not reconcile for a long, long time, if ever. Harry cannot forgive his family for the double-standard of trying to protect William from bad press coverage while simultaneously allowing Harry to be fodder for the newspapers. Harry seems to have mistakenly believed that telling his truth to the world would force the family to acknowledge his pain, apologize, and reform. That hasn't happened, and I suspect this has made Harry even more enraged. As for William, he seems to have absorbed his grandparents' "get on with the job" motto. I think he considers Harry to be selfish for not just accepting that the double-standard is simply how the system works. On top of that, Harry's numerous revelations over the last several years have left William, Kate, Charles and Camilla feeling humiliated. For this reason, I don't think William wants to reconcile. That's just my opinion, anyway.
