Why doesn't this multimeter freeze the voltage or omes displayed instead of changing what's displayed as your testing? Can't tell what's the final measurement this way.

auto ranging meters fluxuate + and - a tiny bit its the nature of the beast

@@KevinMillard68 the leads also seem to be super sensitive. A slight move will cause the meter to fluctuate. Was testing the resistance of plug with this meter using the Ohms feature.

I got this exact meter at walmart a few years ago and it is pretty nice especially for a cheap unit. I might go for a fluke when I feel like I need it but I am a pretty experienced with electronic work but this thing does all I need. I very rarely work on AC so if it has short comings there then its no surprise I havent noticed those short comings lol

My battery load test LEDs some time works and most of the time not. Also when I set the dial to DC V, it shows hundreds of fluctuating volts. What's can be up with this device. Got it brand new on Amazon and used it one only to test it.

This multimeter has a outstanding review on Amazon the most i have seen on any multimeter including mastech ,amprobe etc the next model up the innova 3340 does even more like dwell angle I'm getting one .

muilty meter? Anyway I bought two 3320s in a row and the battery load tester only worked once. The green light came on "GOOD" for the first 9V battery. No light for the second. Then no light for the first. Ever again. What good are indicator lights if they don't work? Meanwhile the thing is scrolling numbers randomly now whenever I turn it on, whereas on first using it there were zeroes. When I touch the leads together, it zeroes out. Is it still reading correctly? IDK.

well id say that something is hooked up wrong or you got 2 lemons in a row i have never had a problem with it i. did sell it tho in favor of a gertting and more advanced model that i needed more/. and it was still working perfect when i sold it ..

@@KevinMillard68 I just found out that a tiny fuse was blown inside, in the battery compartment! I don't know where to get replacements but when I connected the points with a wire the numbers zeroed correctly and the indicator lites worked again. Looks like that was the problem

Much better if you also try to check the wire resistance...yeah continuity test can tell you the wire got continuity but its important to know if the wire has a less than 1 ohm resistance and thats when you know you had a good wire...just a tip man coz some multimeter just read 0.00ohm but a wire should at least have a 0.2-0.5 ohm

A wire or all wires,, no offence but i have been at the electronics game sence i was 8 years old so well over 40 years now not once have i ever worryed about 0.2 to .0.5 resistance in any wire and never once had a problem so i dont see why your picky on this resitance thing in the wire if it tests good and it works then its all good in my opinion

Got mine on Amazon for around $20. I saw a review that has a comparison to a Fluke 179 and the reviewer said it was as accurate as the 179 that had recently been calibrated.

lucky dog! Got it for Christmas, huh. I especially like the load Features, also. I've had mine since since maybe '06 and no trouble until today. I discovered the knob wouldn't turn more than one click to left. So after a bit of trying to pry knob upwards, all to no avail, I took out the 2 screws on the bottom and proceeded to remove the 4 screws retaining the circuit board. There was an attempt made to remove the circuit board, fail! Of course everything was assembled and what do you the know, the knob worked, great! Guess I was lucky, because it doesn't seem to have changed any of the readings. Iit could be because of the caution with which I approached the whole procedure.

I got two that the numbers fluctuate without touching anything when I put the dial on 12v. I touch the two probes together to zero it out but then it starts doing it again. Is that normal? My other cheap multimeters don't do that

when its on 12 volt thats for testing power only try to test a battery and see what happens if it reads it correctly or not

well iam pretty sure you can down load a manaul for it and study it ,. also its a very rare time any one ever uses that port in fact ihave never run accross a time when i have ever needed it in over 40 years of being an electronics tech iam sure there is a use for it but iam also not going to give people all the answers for everything this way they can do some home work and find out the rest on their own iam providing a review on my use with it and cover some of the things its used for which i think is more then fair ,, people never learn anything by having all the info given to them

The port on the left should be for testing current flow (amps) in series with the circuit. On the fluke it has a 10amp fuse I’m not sure what this one can handle.

you'll have to know what you're after... if you want to check continuity (which tests to see if the wire is contiguous-one piece electrically-not an open circuit) you'll just put the leads at each end of the wire you want to check and it will give a reading... if not it will be OL (out of limits) which means the wire is broken/not the right wire etc.. I am sure you can find some good basic meter use videos on youtube.

for my 6V car battery in my 49 Caddy, can I use the 6V Battery Load tester? I know that sounds obvious but after watching you test a 9V battery does the 6V car battery seriously put out less voltage than a small 9V battery we put in our toys? Thanks.

a brand new 9 volt will put out 9 volts to just a bit over 9 volts the one tested was not brand spanking new 9 volt that was tested the green light as lets you know that the battery should also still be good so the answer is yes you can load test your 6 volt battery a 12 volt car battery should read 13.8 volt fully charged a 6 volt will also read just over 6 volts fully charged and so on. and when an alternator is in the system like in a regular car you should read 14 to as much as 18 volts when you are testing the alternator with the car running

While a 9 volt has a 3 more volts than your 6 volt system, the key thing to look at is amperage. A 9 volt is roughly 600mA max rated (0.6 Amp) while your battery is probably rated for 500 cca Cold Cranking Amps) or more. So simply put, your 6 volt puts out 833 times more current compared to a 9 volt. I work on airplanes, for example, I could get a lot bigger shock from 26 Volts AC compared to 115 vac depending on current flow, and resistance. Electricity is crazy and dangerous, but fun to learn. I hope this helps out.
