We had one guy at our locals that always drew the perfect floodgates going 1st and outs going 2nd. Me and the other judge said if we ever play him and think we've caught him cheating then call each other over for a ruling. A few months ago the other judge called me over for a ruling, the player had activated and resolved only 1 card going first; Bonfire, after that he suddenly had 6 cards in hand. The judge had seen him drop another card onto his hand while searching his deck with Bonfire but the player didn't realise he'd been caught. The card he dropped was Skill Drain. We finally caught him, disqualified him from the tournament and he's not been back to that locals since.

At locals and sometimes regionals, I do the opposite of rule sharking. Whenever I know my opponent forgot a trigger, I feign ignorance and say out loud, "Oh, did you have any triggers after this action? I didn't see any anything that happened after." This game takes a lot of muscle memory and I'd hate to play a game where a win is decided by forgetting one small sequence.

I played a guy when frog decks were part of the meta. He kept using his hard once per turn effects in the same turn thinking I wouldn’t notice. When I called him out on it he got mad and said I didn’t know the rules. Called over a judge, we read the card out loud to him, he became so stun shocked that he aggressively grabbed his stuff and walked away. Some cheaters just can’t handle getting caught.

at local levels im fine when someone immediately wants to take back an action they just did. but not on bigger tournaments. its also not allowed to leak private information and when u wanna take back the NS, that was also the case.

I allow it as well. We're there to learn but as for me if I make a play I try to commit to it, even if it fucks me over. If I make that mistake it's there for me to learn from it

I just attended YCS Orlando over the weekend and I’m really happy to report that all of my opponents were very pleasant to play against. Many of them were serious, but none of them were rude. That would be times when I did something like say chain activation, but then say actually no, things that could very easily be reversible and taken back without ever having had committed in action

My approach to searching deck/graveyard is to hold only one thing at a time. I put my hand down before picking them up. Then, if I am grabbing a card, I place the card I am declaring face-up on the table while I shuffle the deck or return the graveyard. I play to have fun and if I get beat, then so be it. Plus, as someone with kids, I don't get a chance to play that often and need to make the most of my time.

I have that at my locals where people peaked almost at the bottom of my deck when they’re shuffling my cards. Instead of just cutting though pick them up and shuffle, but it’s at an angle and you can still kind of see what the cards are at the bottom.

8:56 you’re not allowed to shuffle your own deck after presenting it to the opponent. the only randomization you can do after is cut, then your opponent gets the Final Cut. You should just ask a judge if you think your opponent is looking at your deck

The stacking one I counter by ALWAYS shuffling their deck myself. When it comes to them shuffling my deck, I always watch them closely to make sure they're not looking at my deck. When it comes to the effects of cards. I always read cards I'm unfamiliar with and if needed I ask a judge if one is available or other players as well.

Ngl at locals I get annoyed when my opponent shuffles my deck right after they've just seen me thoroughly shuffle for 2-4 minutes, and I just want them to cut the deck. Especially because they dont ever seem to shuffle face-down. Its like an implied accusation that Im cheating, while they seem to be at the very least ABLE to peek through my deck. Meanwhile Im there cutting their deck in half and trusting they wont shaft me
@kidbu916
@kidbu916 6 күн бұрын
@josephjackson9679 I can understand that. That's certainly not my intention, but I don't want to get fucked either because some people will do whatever to win. Imo cheating to win is so dumb. The feeling of winning genuinely is what I want and I don't want to rob my opponent either. That reduces the fun in my eyes.

The best way to counter these kinds of players is to play shit like convulsion of nature, great noodle inversion, archfiend's oath, the true name, and card advance If they accuse you of stacking just go "yeah I'm stacking. Difference between you and me is I don't have to bend the rules to win. I just step around them"

I remember some years back during the 5ds era, I was having a casual game with a friend of mine, I'm doing a synchro summon, he goes into his battle phase and destroys my cards, and I tell him you can't go into your battle phase during my turn, unless you have a card that says you can, and he tells me when it's destroyed its removed from play instead of the graveyard. I never spoke to that guy again.

Since everyone is different and there is a vast spectrum of what people consider rule sharking or not, what I try to do is reciprocate what my opponent allows and disallows and match that standard to them. I always ask if I can get take backs and if they allow them, I always reciprocate if they are in a similar situation. So if they don't allow some forms of take backs, I keep them responsible to the same degree of restriction. This way there's no bad blood and everything is fair. There was a wholesome moment at a locals where my opponent let cards he adds to hand or revealed remain revealed throughout his turn (gigachad), and I reciprocated by keeping my "known" cards in hand open too (he cooked me with his mermail deck). Idk if I will do something like that at a regional, but man if I had his confidence I'd probably do that unprompted.

Mana weaving? That's literally cheating bro.
@BCc249
@BCc249 Күн бұрын
@Last_Resort991 no mana shuffle, not weaving. When u shuffle ur deck after laying out ur mana and then laying card down it's called mana shuffle. When u don't shuffle after its called mana weaving which is very against the rules in every card game I know of because it's literally stacking ur deck. Let me state this one more time. After laying out my mana and laying the rest of the cards on top of them I shuffle my deck just like normal.... There is no way that illigal in any way. Again I'm talking about a mana shuffle not mana weaving. Mana weaving is a particular way ppl stack decks, mana shuffling is weaving and then fully shuffling ur deck afterwords, because u shuffle it afterwords it's obviously not cheating. Ppl do this for the same reason all regular playing card decks come in order, and are replaced in order before u start ur first shuffle in casinos as a legal requirment

Best way to "cheat" in Yu-Gi-Oh: >Don't wash for 1-2 weeks before the event >Let your opponent see you violently shuffle your own deck, bending at least 3 cards in the process >Insist on cutting your opponent's deck.
