Wow, what was wrong with #3? Lack of food? The other two, including #4 seemed okay, #3 seemed very uncoordinated, kept falling down. Seems fine this afternoon, can only hope for more fish soon. Thanks for the video, I missed this delivery this morning :)

This cracked me up! Like watching the 3 stooges. Even the oldest one wasn't snatching the food from mom, kept feeding #3 after trying #1 and missing. I hope #3 lived. I guess mom got tired of trying to feed the ones who were in range, #1 and #3, because they weren't taking the food or were too uncoordinated to get it, while #2 wasn't even in range for feeding. Weird. I've only seen Eagles feeding mostly and these are so different from Eagles.

Look at that baby stretch and call out. Amazing they sure are. Beautiful big fish, and he didn't even go to his special place to eat the head first, mom kept saying I got this, I got this, wow those kids were so hungry. Poor 3 , I do wish they would dole out the food to each one. 2 looked drunk!

Wow that's a really big fish!!! After this 3am chick calling for food, I guess they really need to fill up tonight. Maybe tonight little chicky will quiet down.

Ospreys never nest in trees - ever! They can't fly in and out of a nest that is surrounded by branches.

Somebody called them Eagles??? These are Osprey. They are not scavengers like eagles, they hunt for fish only.

He hears it. You must not be familiar with Ospreys or their behaviours. The male catches the fish, eats the head then brings the rest of the fish to the female and chicks if there are chicks in the nest. The maie is the only provider while the female is incubating eggs or brooding chicks because she cannot leave the nest or all will be lost. The male has to eat, too. He is the only provider for all of them. You find the answer by watching that other video I posted that shows how high and fast the water was last year. That is not an occurrence that happens every year but if there is a lot of snow in the mountains or there is a lot of rain for a long time, this will happen at this location and all along this river. Many chicks died up and down this river that were not filmed, not just this nest Many nests! It was because of the weather, not the Osprey!

Yes, bad. The poor parents were helpless to do anything about it, either, because there was a massive amount of snow runoff from the snow melt and it flooded the rivers. The ospreys couldn't see or even dive to catch fish. The adults barely made it themselves.

Li Hou She never feeds the smallest one much because she doesn't want to waste food on it because she knows she won't keep it. It's weak and small. Survival of the fittest in nature is the rule but I have seen very small pups fed better and they surpassed the size and weight of the largest pup so sometimes I wonder if the mother is selective and not correct in her selection on who will live or die. I just saw a black stork keep taking the smallest of four chicks away from the others and step on it and poke it deep with its sharp long thin beak. Looked cruel but they do what nature tells them, I suppose. It's good to see her feeding the little one now incase a big one falls out of the nest or it is stolen by another bird of prey. Dad is back for the last half of his fish. Waste not, want not. They cooperate well as a family. I guess she fed her chicks so much, she didn't eat enough herself.
