This was an Osprey chick, not an Eagle, The chick fledged 4 years ago meaning flew, then migrated to South America. 🙂

The older chick was the dominant one. This means that he gets to be fed first. The food wasn't much, and the little one starved because he didn't get fed much.

Siblicide due to lack of food. The older chick killed the second chick, which died Monday, June 25, from siblicide. For about 5-6 days this Chick 1 viciously attacked Chick 2 when fish became sparse due to muddy waters. These attacks caused Chick 2 to curl into a defensive position. This happened when fish was delivered to the nest after the first fish wasn’t delivered on time. It continued until Chick 2 died of this atrocious siblicide from Chick 1. Seems the waters are still somewhat muddy, since fishing remains poor. Iris is smart enough to follow her instinct to keep her first of three chicks alive. Chick 3 died at about 3 days old due to starvation and dehydration due to lack of fish at the time of its hatching and its weakness compared to the two older ones.
