Inov8 TRAILFLY G 270 V2 | Worth the Update?

Launched in 2020, the inov-8 TERRAULTRA G 270 was an evolution of the award-winning TERRAULTRA G 260. Now there is another update and I was keen to see if the update was a good one.
I had previously owned a total four pairs of the previous versions including every step of the 2019 Dragons Back Race in the originals.

have you ran on any wet pavement or rocks with them yet? Just wondering because I find a lot of trail shoes pretty slippery on wet rocks while backpacking or just everyday wear. I don't recall having a pair with graphine in them. Thanks for the review.

I should have asked. Do they have an equivalent road running shoe? zero drop, wide fit low 20's stack height?

In Canada I can get my hands on the original version for full price... (Not sure why?) Would that be a good purchase, or do I really want to purchase the V2. How do these compare to Altra superior or Altra lone peaks. Fit and durability.

No idea on comparison sorry I’ve not owned those Altra shoes …. The Altra will be wider though. 🤙🏻

Looking to get new shoes for uts 50 this year , don’t think speedgoat 5 or trialfly 300 I have will cut it . Looking at these or inov8 x-talon ultra 260 . Will await your updates on this one 👍

Also doing the UTS50 and these look good. Currently training in On Cloudventure which do not have the lugs like these but do squish really well on the rocks. Speedcross for me were dangerous - I Went over twice on my ankle in them as the sole has no give or bend.

Yeah conditions would have to be right for them but the 50 might be perfect for these. Out on the course from March so keep an eye out 👌🏼

Interesting, doing UTS50 in v1 as I know I can rely on them and they feel comfortable. Unless it gets really wet/muddy in which case I may rethink. Last time I ran up Snowdon was 8 years ago in a pair of road shoes so anything will be better than those!

I have the Terra Ultra G270 (1:st version) as well as the x-talon ultra 260 and i actually prefer the Terra ultra. Reason is that the x-talon ultra 260 are actually to wide (i need wide shoes) which even makes my foot to move around to much causing blisters eventually on toes. That does not happen with the Terra ultra.

Does the tongue has a little more padding on them? Looked like it has on your vlog!

Yes a little more than the original… definitely wider so wraps around more and doesn’t seem to move much

nice review mate, would you recommend these for road use, but allows the option for off road use? or are they not suited to road at all? thanks

You could use them on the road but they are a trail show really…. Maybe something like the Nike Pegasus trail (I have reviewed both waterproof and non here) would be better … great on road for most things but handles light trail very well too and more importantly a bit more affordable I think! 👍🏼

Good review, cheers. I wear X-Talons every day on trail and fell but have signed up for a trail marathon on hard packed trail later in the year and need something slightly comfier. What are your thoughts on a comparison between the two types of shoe? Love the X-Talons for how you feel so much more of what's beneath you. Can't stand the numbing effect of too much foam.

Yeah these are pretty good in that respect …. They are zero drop which helps with that anyway but definitely not as much ‘softness’ as say the Trailfly 280 which I also have. If it’s hard packed then you’re not feeling too much anyway I guess so I’m sure you would get on with them 👍🏼

@@GaryHouseCoaching You're not wrong - took the plunge and put some miles on them and they're honestly the shoe I've been looking for for a while. Love how light they are yet so rugged on the rocks.

Class mate, I think I’ve had every pair of trail runners going over the last few years and finally settled on the terraultra/fly g270 - if I get these they’ll be my 4th pair 😂

If the conditions are the same and you can handle the zero drop they will be a great choice , if that coastal path gets churned up in the weeks before it you will need more traction I imagine … INOV8 talon ultra maybe if you find that you like INOV8 👍🏼
