I looked at the options and selected 2 as the answer. Just because all the options where greater than the smallest side (5). Is this approach correct sir? Because I didn't know A=R*S
@Wizako3 жыл бұрын
Yes Nikhil, that works! But do remember and learn the formula as well. If there are many answer choices lesser than (5), the formula method works. Best wishes for your GMAT!

Is there a formula for circumradius? For a right triangle, I know it is Hypotenuse/2, but for any other triangle, is there a formula?
@Wizako4 жыл бұрын
We have a formula for Area, where Area = abc/4R. a, b, c are the sides of the triangle and R is the circumradius. We can use this formula to compute the circumradius.

Please provide a question with cicumscribed circle consisting of a right angle triangle as well.

We will keep your suggestion in mind. Thanks!!!

Sir can you share another question using the same concept plz? Thank you.

Hi, Sure. In the previous videos of the geometry section i learnt that if a right angled triangle is inscribed in a cirlce then its radius is hypotenuse/2 .. why the ans isnt 6.5 units?
@Wizako3 жыл бұрын
Hello, In this case, the circle is inscribed inside the triangle, and not the other way around. So, the aforementioned concept doesn't apply. As Sir said, you can use either method mentioned in the video to calculate the inradius. Cheers!

A bit off the track. Since I'm using "GMAT Simulated Scratchpad" and forgot the formula A=rS, solved it by sketching the triangle as the scratchpad is in the graph sheet format and there was only one answer choice close to "2".

Great stuff Gaurav!! Do remember this formula next time you encounter a similar question as it would save you some time. Best wishes for your prep!!
