Polara was the top of the line for Dodge. Not cheap. Getting it with the most wanted features came at a price. It was wise to get Ziebart rustproofing with the best exterior finish. That car could easily get you a ticket. Ouch!

You got that right, Pap. I seen that car in person at Byron and it's wicked BAAD and bangin' a 4 speed. I had a black '64 Polara 500 that was originally a 383 4 spd. I never heard about "dealer installed" 4 speeds(?) I equipped mine with a tunnel rammed 440 with Crane cam and Hooker race headers and Dana with 4.56 gears.

Hi Martin, Thanks for watching. Your comment just appeared. I am not sure about the transmission status. I believe the owner did all the driveline to suit his needs for big horsepower. He showed me mufflers that had a huge hole blown out from the pressure of the engine. Very cool car. Thanks again for watching and your comment! #driveitlikeyoustoleitbitches.

Yeah, that sounded bogus to me. I've seen plenty of the '64 and later B-bodies with 4speeds, and they were NOT all dealer installs. My 64 Dart GT came oem with an 833 4speed w/Hurst shifter, so I'm pretty sure some of the 64 Polaras were oem 4speeds, too. Now '63 was a different matter, they came with 3spd manuals, not 4spds.

@musclecarswitheric2 жыл бұрын
Hi Danny. Thank you for watching and your comment. How cool that you have a jet engine powered Mustang. Send me some video. A little education goes a long ways: While interviewing my clients and shooting video of their cars I simply report what I have been told and shown. This time I went for a ride in the car and it was neck snapping quick and very fast in a quick hurry. I have no reason to doubt his claim of 900 hp. He has nothing to gain by lying to me. All of his friends and associates watched this video and never mentioned anything to the contrary. In other words, I am a conduit of information, not the creator of it. If you enjoy my content be sure to subscribe. I will expect to see your jet powered Mustang any day. LOL. Cheers. Drive it Like You Stole it Bitches!

@@musclecarswitheric I wish I could but I sold the car after I got paralyzed. It was a 68 Dart GTS with a mild 440, ported 906 heads, a Weiand tunnel ram, 2 660 center squirter carbs, 727 torqueflite with a 3500 stall converter and a 410 posi. It really wasn't all that fast, it ran a 12.01 on the motor and with a small nitrous kit it ran 11.23. I was just messing with you, man! I've always liked the dodge Polara, they are beautiful cars!

@@musclecarswitheric Thank you, Eric! Yes, I had an accident on an ATC in 2000, I broke my neck and got a spinal cord injury, I'm paralyzed from the chest down. My older brother has always been a diehard Mopar guy, when I was about 12 years old I started helping him work on his street/strip 1973 Plymouth Barracuda. My first car was a 1974 Dodge Challenger, 440, tunnel ram, Mopar purpleshaft cam, 3500 stall converter, 391 posi and a small nitrous kit, definitely a cool first car! LOL! After I sold that car (like a fool) I put all the drivetrain into the 68 Dodge Dart. We are big time Mopar guys, that's for sure, my brother has 4 Barracudas and a road runner that are all restored except the one Barracuda That's his drag car. Are you in Arizona? We're from Tucson. I hear you, a little banter is always fun! I'll definitely check out the channel, thanks for the video!

@@krisjato Thank you for sharing your accident. I am sorry to learn this. However I am excited you are still a Mopar guy. I would love to come down to Tucson sometime and do an episode of "What's in Your Garage" at your brother's place. I live in Surprise, AZ which is the northwest corner of the valley. We live on the way to Wickenburg, the cowboy town which is on the way to Vegas. I am currently researching the top muscle cars in history as a video project with each of the top ten having their own 5 minute or so video. Perhaps, after my poll is completed with some true car guys: Authors, auctioneers, appraisers and enthusiasts, the Barracuda will be included in this list. In either case I would love to make a trip to Tucson and meet you and check out your brother's collection. In the meantime, #DriveitLikeYouSToleitBitches. cheers! Hi Martin. Again, sorry for the delay. Your comments just populated in my email. I don't know about what they had from the factory. All I now is this car has huge horsepower and is lightning fast. I don't think he represented himself as a Mopar guy, rather a car guy who loves his car which happens to be a Mopar. Cheers!
@patrickwayne37013 жыл бұрын
Martin, I heard him to say that the car had no engine in it, but, 'it came with engines',, I don't think he meant to imply that 64's came with 400's or 440's from the factory, but rather, that those were the engines he got along with the car when he bought it from the neighbor 3 doors down. Most of these cars came with the Canadian 318 and a pushbutton automatic 727. Once they got big blocked from the factory,, it was 383's down the line, unless the new owner opted for the 365hp 426 street wedge, like my Dad did. I still have his old car, and it's got 71k miles on it today. There's not allot of people who know what the pre '66 cars got for cubic inches because they were back before Chrysler tried to market to the younger population,, and you had to read the brochures to know the dirt. Now, the owner has enough gray fur to be old enough to know some of that stuff, but the roof beams in his very respectable garage, said 'chevelle parts',, I knew right then he's not a dyed in the wool Mopar guy. He's just dabbling in the marque' because he is old enough to know that Polara is the kind of car the Beach Boys sang about sitting in a certain little old lady's rickety garage in Pasadena. And I PROMISE YOU, if he's got chevelle parts in his garage, he's seen the back of Dodges going away fast. That's why he bought this one when he got the chance. He finally wanted to be on the winning side.
