Love the 6x47. I use Berger 109 LRHT and the 108 Boat Tail Target. Both shoot great with the smallest 3 round group during load development being .090" with the 108's seated .006" into the land. Using 34.2gr of Varget. The 109's do almost as well seated .015" off the lands at 100 yards but hold a better group past 300 yards.

Has anyone ever done a test where they loaded up identical ammo (case, bullet, powder charge, primer) where the only difference is the dies that were used? I have no doubt that these die are good, but is that difference quantifiable in a scientific test?
@MMBRM2 ай бұрын
As long as the brass came out the same as far as size consistency, seating depth and bullet run out there would be zero difference. Ever since this channel went into the sponsored content/commercial direction the testing and conclusions seem a lot less reliable. He's being paid to showcase a product so you aren't going to hear about any possible issues.

I think Johnny’s Reloading Bench did that with .223

Oh, that 6x47...I'm old, for a minute there I thought you were talking about the original 6x47 aka the .222 Remington Magnum necked up to 6mm. It was fairly popular in the 200 yard benchrest community for a while.

This was labeled 6x47 SM (swiss match) on the screenshot. That is not the same case as a 6.5x47L necked down to 6mm. Correct me if I’m wrong…

Been using Triebel dies for a few years now. 308, 338 and 375 Cheytac. The Benchrest Seating dies are truly excellent. Runoff less than .002” in all but a few instances. The FL sizing dies have also been great with my 308 win Accuracy International AW (AI barrel) and also with my 375 Cheytac (Voere X5). However, I’ve had problems with my 338 LM full length sizing die for my AI AWSM (L115-A3, with standard AI fluted barrel, CIP). However I set the FL die up to bump the shoulder .002”, I can’t get the case to chamber and bolt to close smoothly. I’ve had to send the die, along with fired brass, and resized brass from Hornady FL die (brass chambers perfectly with .002” bump) back to Michael at Triebel to resolve the problem. Granted, Michael has contacted me to say he will get to the bottom of the problem and sort it, but it’s been too long a wait and I’m about to tell him to bin my very expensive FL die, and I’ll go look elsewhere for something that works. Impressive seating die, but FL die seems overpriced for what it is. Just my opinion based on experience.

I have a AR15 in 6mm Mongoose 20" barrel, using Remington 80 grain soft points because they are the shortest length bullet I found with 28 grains of Hodgdons Benchrest. A compressed load. 3 short groups you can cover with a cigarette butt at 100 yards. The problem with this barrel was I had to drill the gas hole out with two letter drill sizes up and use a adjustable gas block. And still used a lighter weight in the buffer to get the gun to cycle right. But a 80 grain bullet going 3124 fps at max length plus .005 2.265 coal. This is a proprietary round from Mad Dog Weapon Systems, and Hornaday dies. Which is close to the 6mm TCU cartridge and you start with 6mmx45 load data in Lee manual. Its my most accurate round and coming out of a AR. Don't use Seller & Bullot brass less case capacity use Lake city brass. But .222 rem brass works best you don't get the doughnut like on the lake city brass just past the neck taper. Super fun cartridge and is deer legal. I hunt in Florida and deer don't get that big.

Gavin, you should do a “budget vs. this setup” shootout using Lee or Hornady dies and equipment. That would be interesting and also give viewers why or why not to spend $300 + on dies, $1300 on a press etc.

Impressive. Velocity makes me curious. Iam shooting a 6xc using a 112 grain projectile. Using 4350 at 39.5 grains. 3000 ft/ sec av. Shoots lights out. This video makes me think I should probably back my load of. Not for case issues or anything else. But for case life and barrel life??

I've got to wonder, are dies that expensive truly worth the cost? I understand some people just want THE BEST, but damn those are a lot of money!

Great video with two exceptions. I would never trust the loads directly from an automated dispenser like the Chargemaster and I would never use inside neck lubrication which is known to affect accuracy. I'm surprised that the rifle shot as well as it did.

Excuse my ignorance but isn’t 6x47 ballistically a twin with the 6creed? If so why would a person choose the wildcat 6x47 instead of the saami 6creed? Not being facetious, genuinely curious.

Should I build a 6 creed or 6x47? I’m doing a 20” midrange precision hunting rifle (hunt out to 400-500 and target past a 1000)

was that second case double charged? filled it while showing the bullet seating stems and again right before installing the die. Or was that the magic of editing?

All said and done he could have loaded the 6 x47 with RCBS, Redding Competition or some custom Whidden dies and achieved same results. The 6 x 47 L like the 6mm BR is a born accurate cartridge sure the die's may help to a small degree. Just like neck expanders mandrels comp primer seating tools, the best brand barrels, bedding and trigger jobs. And then theres the skill and set up of the shooter ect ect...🤔😊
