if you need to do a vertical scan in war thunder's mirage, use the same keybind you use to change from wide angle to narrow angle search patterns in SRC mode, but do it in ACM mode- i believe on the mirage you can cycle thru small boresight, a vertical scan, and large boresight (HUD ACM) modes

@@Bullet4MyEnemy it differs jet to jet. The F-14 for example only has one boresight mode and two vertical ACM modes- one that scans vertically starting from the nose, and another that scans at an even higher elevation. Vertical scans that high can be brutally useful for quickly acquiring a target that you've already identified and have begun turning into. On the flip side, the F-16 only has a (much smaller) vertical scan mode and a HUD ACM mode. every aircraft has a different selection of em, which is why I exhaust all radar keybinds possible when checking out a new jet in test flights

can I ask you what are your settings ffor "dead zone" , "Nonlinearity" , "Multiplier" and "Correction" in each of the 3 axis? If you mind of course. Love the dogfights

Deadzone is off for all, nonlinearity for pitch is 2.3 or 2.5 can’t remember, roll is default, haven’t touched the rudders and the sensitivity sliders are on 75%

I remember this game! Y'all were a pain in my squad's ass but it was a great fight. Also if you're having issues using the ACM radar in rear aspects turn off the PD. If you dont have a great enough closure speed then pulse Doppler isnt the best.

Is there a reason you play with Knot as your unit for speed? I understand it's the standard for real modern jets, maybe that's why you picked it?

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone can help but I've been flying dcs for a little bit and as you know with a joystick its more or less plug and play. I want to play sim planes in war thunder but the controls feel really off and lazy, I'm not sure if there is a setting to turn on/off or something, but for me at least just feels un natural.

Compared to DCS WarThunder is just going to feel worse, the flight models are based on real world data but there’s a lot less nuance to the flight performance. Things like buffeting and over speed, G effects etc are displayed in different ways that will feel less precise, muddier, or just worse in general than DCS. This isn’t a simulator in the same sense, it’s more of a cockpit limited difficulty setting for a more arcade style game, to me WarThunder has always felt a little more “on rails” compared to DCS, but I’ve been here since the game’s launch so I probably just adapted with it as time went on. Back at the start I played it on console so it was the only - literally the only - “sim” title to speak of, so I probably just made do because I had no other option. There are things you can adjust to change the feel, “sense of flight” gives your camera some inertia through manoeuvres to try to emulate how you’d strain your neck through pulls etc, and the “sensitivity” sliders are best thought of as input lag - 100% will mimic your stick input directly, but reducing it will cause the onset of inputs to happen slightly slower. A lot of people say to use 100% because it’s good for max response times, but I reduce it to around 75% because it gives the aircraft a more weighty feel, which personally helps me with the sensation of actually flying the aircraft, it’s a bit too jerky at 100% for my liking. You’ve also got the nonlinearity sliders in the axis edit sections, which are essentially the same as DCS’s “curves” just with much worse visual reference for making adjustments; I leave roll and yaw alone and slightly increase pitch to around 2.3/2.5, slightly dampens inputs in the lower end of stick travel. Your mileage may vary of course, but if you can’t get on with it, there might be no helping it beyond those adjustment options.

Newer in general or new to sim? I don’t think any of my group touch the lower tiers much. If you search for a guy called Wingaling Dragon he’s very community oriented and tends to play props, his discord is probably in a video description. I don’t have my own just yet, but I’m looking to set one up for a 10k sub milestone, so watch this space.

@@Bullet4MyEnemy I played low tier sim for a while, but I have the premiums, like the Su-25k, the A-10, 5FC, Kfir Canard. Slowly grinding into the higher tiers. My former sim groups were austrillian time zone and my job changed to day time US, so I lost the ability to play with them and then I had a sim cold spell for like the last 8 months.

omfg at the beginning the f14 you killed in head on mowed a guy that was right at your side and ate the missile instead of you, and then later at 7:50 you indeed destroyed a missile!!
