Thanks for watching everyone!😃 It has been a long four years of not posting but I’m happy to start sharing some really exciting aquarium projects with everyone again. I am beyond appreciative for everyone who has watched my videos and continues to watch them to this day. I am working on a posting schedule that will allow me to continue to uploading on a more regular basis. Needless to say, I am very excited for what’s to come! Stay tuned!❤👍🌱

I can't wait to see how this turns out. I'm concerned about the slots getting clogged and the system flooding, but I'm not knowledgeable about plumbing at all. I'm excited to see how it goes. Good luck.

This might sound crazy but for the last two weeks ive been setting up this exact type of system in my garage. I would love to collaborate with you on the problems and benefits we both run into. I do have some suggestions and ideas but right now your a couple months ahead of me. 1. Submerged time, may affect growth type produced. I planned to grow Water wisteria (Hygrophila difformis) and see which growth was produced. 2. UV sterilizer to limit algae growth and increase amount of fertz you can add. 3. Emergency overflow pipe. In case a bell siphon fails i added an overflow in each tank directly to the reservoir. 4. There is a slight modification you can make to bell siphons to leave a specific level of water in your trays

This guy's channel has a lot of great information about aquaponic bell siphon systems. It might help you troubleshoot some common issues. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHyolouErLirjbcsi=qDv50aTnqq6XRjIc

This is so awesome to hear! How is your setup coming along? I considered adding the emergency overflow pipes as well but opted not to and luckily I haven't had any clogging issues in my bell siphon. It's probably a good idea to include them though. My main difficulty right now was getting some algae growth on the leaves, a UV filter might work but most of the algae was attached so a UV filter might not be able to fully eliminate that issue. If you try it out let me know how it works for you. I'm starting a new experiment where the water level only rises and falls within the root layer of the plants, this way I wont have to deal with algae growing on the leaves but will still hopefully get lots of water/nutrient flow into the roots of the plants to promote their growth. Thanks for the channel recommendation too!

@Widquatics This sounds like a good idea, don't have the water go past substrate level,if your selling plants algae covered leaves would be a problem

Very amazing content! I want to start with Enubias and Java, does vermicompost work? Do I need professional light or do I grow well with normal plants?

Hi again, We’re your bell siphons on top 2 levels the same exact size and with the deeper tub does it get 2 cycles from above to get the siphon to engage? Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
@Widquatics Жыл бұрын
Yeah those bell siphons are the same size and it was actually unplanned but the volume of water that fills the top container is enough to trigger the bell siphon for the deeper bin as well so in one filling cycle all the tubs fill and then drain together. So that worked out pretty good.
@DuzzyDobbin Жыл бұрын
@@Widquatics so the deeper tub doesn’t get filled all the way or is it a smaller are box? How have you found growth vs your other growing systems? Thankyou for the reply. Regards Duzzy🇦🇺

Sub for you! It seems to keep some weight off of the shelving. Very cool system. Great skills to learn here. Probably useful in many filtration applications like UV and other water treatment.

I really enjoy your videos regarding propagating aquarium plants. Do you think you could include in a video, regarding your ebb and flow system, how you set up the pump and the details of how it runs and how often? Thanks so much for your videos.

Hello! Thank you for your very interesting and informative videos. I have many aquariums and, since my fish don't eat Anubias like other plants, I'm going to build a shelf and try growing Anubias ebb and flow. Somehow I may have overlooked in the videos how you regulate the ebb and flow rhythm. Does the little pump work 24 hours a day or do you set breaks? If so, how many and for how long. Regards

You also have to watch your water quality .Your PPM and PH Im really interested to see Aquarium plants grown this way Also in your Reservoir i would put an air pump or small pump so when you are adding new water and nutrients that they are being mixed I only grow large plants hydroponically so i always have a 10lt bucket of already mixed and ph perfect water ready so i can add to my Reservoir when needed The last thing you want happening is your pump running dry I would also keep an extra pump just in case of failure Also look into the optimum temperature for your water its important in hydro But once you dial everything in you will be amazed at plant growth Oxygen rich rooting is amazing Im exited to see what happens Good luck

Hi there, Great setup! Was wondering what the lights are you’re running if you don’t mind. And also is the ball valve just above the pump to tune the flow. In tte set up you’re using I’d go with Buceaphalandra, Anubias (smaller types) and Java fern and taller Anubias in the deeper tub. Given this is an older vid I believe, how’s this system been growing plants? Regards Duzzy🇦🇺
@Widquatics Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! In this video I was running some cheap LED shop lights, nothing too special but I have since switched some of the levels to LED grow lights to compare the growth and see if there is a significant difference between the two. And yes, that ball valve is just to reduce the flow a bit to get the proper fill time. I just posted an update video showing how these plants grew if you are interested in checking that out. thanks

@@Widquatics I’ll check it out thanks. I have looked at all your stuff often multiple times. I’m about to embark on a similar project here in Australia. Thanks for the help. Regards Duzzy🇦🇺

You need to do more research into Marijuana hydroponic set ups The amount of money that they have put into growing plants fast is just crazy Flood and drain is a system has been around for 30 years or more Yes you want your roots to be exposed to oxygen Depending with your substrate will tell you how long the roots can be exposed to air But basically the longer the better Expanded clay is my favourite as you get better oxygen to your roots
@NameName-do9hj Жыл бұрын
With expanded clay balls growing pot, you would drain all water and only flood to the top of your substrate You only want to flood just before the roots dry out ! The longer the roots are getting oxygen the better For me once roots are established I wood only flood and drain 4 times every 24 hours Also get a huge air pump with as many air stones you need per tub that turn on when substrate is under water this will give your roots even more oxygen Look up Bubbleponics or DWC I've never had plants were you flood the leaves But for fast growing DWC and airoponics were the roots are in the air and misted with water can grow plants 3x faster than dirt Also but the best hydro nutrients you can Orford and make sure your pH and ppm are perfect

@@NameName-do9hj The flood and drain cycle.. How long with water and how long without? I am guessing with water can be brief?
@NameName-do9hj8 ай бұрын
@pullbackbaby Hey bud :) if you use a flood type table ? Then as soon as your water covers your medium and hits the syphon All the water should drain in 20 to 30 seconds So it's up to you on size of pump Eg : size of table 100lt ok pump size 100lt an hour........ so every hour or so the table floods then the water hits the syphon and all the water drains from your table quickly suckling oxygen into the root zone (pump always stays on) But if you have a choice I would go dwc with temp control of water and always have buck up pumps ect

@@Widquatics I ended up ordering some on amazon. This build has not been as easy as i thought it would be. I put a bunch of anubis in one grow bed. It doesn't seem to be growing much. that being said its been fun and educational. I enjoy your content. thank you for your hard work.
