You came for 2:28 Huge shoutout to NASCAR getting the track dried and restarted to complete the full distance of this race. It was unfortunate the rain wreck tore up a bunch of cars, but that storm came fast and was only raining on at most a third of the track. We felt light rain drops ~30 seconds before the pileup in Turn 1.

I keep watching all these videos and everyone in the grand stands kept saying, "it's raining". The ones down on the other side of the start finish said it was coming down hard. Like you can see it in the videos. Why does NASCAR not have someone in the grandstands that says, RAIN! THROW THE CAUTION. Jeez.

The field was already past the start/finish line going into turn 1 when it started pouring rain, you can see it in this video and in-car cameras plus spotter radio. They can race in drizzling rain, not pouring rain. Spotters only started to report rain when the field was already in the tri-oval. You're talking maybe a couple second window there to potentially make that call and even still the field wouldn't have been slowed down enough in time before they entered turn 1 where it was pouring. There is no way the message could've been relayed in time. One second it wasn't raining, the next second it was. It's easy to say they should've done this, they should've done that after the fact and knowing what happened. Nobody's psychic. It was a freak incident. And if they stopped the race earlier because 'it might start raining soon' then you'd have people complaining about that. It's always a lose-lose scenario.
