5-6 Delta S4 are in San Marino, rally edition and homologation cars. Two are in Lancia Museum in Italy, the remaining cars are in the garage of many luky people. Two body of S4 were used for made the ECV1 and ECV2, the sons of S4 ( other 800CV about 750 HP ). The other remaining are used for Rally Legend, and other races where those monster can go fast as old times.

@markandrach I'm sure the Estoril lap with a "standard" S4 is a myth, but probably he used a prototype of the new S4 ECV (Experimental Composite Vehicle) for the incoming Group S. The ECV was all carbon fiber built with an engine of a bit less than 700 HP and a weight of 800 Kg. Even some parts of the engine and the wheel rims were carbon fiber made. And don't forget the FWD and the peculiarities of the Estoril circuit.

As Barath noticed, 200 examples (at least) was official homologation minimum for every group-B car, but that was a total number with street ones included. Obviously, only some of them were converted by factory to rally spec. I'd say probably about dozen or so... There were, however, people converting their "stradales" to rally/racing cars in later years.

No, for group B, there had to be 200 road going versions of the cars in order for the race versions to compete, however, not all companies made 200 road legal versions, or so I've read, they started with 20, saying they would build more but actually didn't or something like that.
@TheHuskyGT12 жыл бұрын
The sound clearly tells it's a four cylinder. I'm not sure about the size, but I know it was very odd and it was both supercharged and turbocharged at the same time. Incredible sound indeed. Sounds like a super bike.
@qwkutiub11 жыл бұрын
The tail lights are from a street version of the S4... The rally cars had smaller rectangular ones. Anyway, 200 road cars were made. I don't know precisely the nr of rally cars made, but here's a registry gruppob. net/registros4.html I counted 26 of them.

@ShadowFalcon12 жыл бұрын
And some people think Twincharging is pointless. I don't know. Looking at this I think it makes plenty of sense to twincharge a car (to those who doesn't understand, twincharging is to have both a supercharger and a turbocharger on the same engine. The idea is that the turbo will provide top end power while the supercharger provides low-rev grunt).

true the veyron is made for top speed these old group B cars were made for acceleration, torke, and cornering, they may dont have a very high top speed, but the acceleration is brutal

@ffontani as a guide to 1986 f1 in qualifying trim search senna brands hatch qualifying the speed is just mind blowing the is no way in a million years an s4 (ecv or not) would even come close i think s4's are great cars,but people need to be realistic about their capabilities

@ak47proshooter the grip gained from awd will be counter acted by the massive tyres a f1 car has.once the f1 car is moving and the aerodynamics come into effect,the grip of the f1 will be far greater than that of an s4 dont forget f1 are designed from ground up to be as fasat as possible on tarmac, why dont f1 cars look anything like a road legal car as the s4 does/is its ignorance in the extreme to think a rally car is as quick as an f1 car

For day-to-day work I'd have a T-16. An easy car to drive (in normal conditions). Both the S1 and S4 are far too complex. And the latter especially hates low road speeds...
@markandrach13 жыл бұрын
@ak47proshooter estoril is a full blown racing circuit,f1 cars in 86 would do 200mph. even basic maths tells you a car that would do 130 max would have to do that all the way aropund to even get close to an f1 time i wish people would just realise the s4 at estoril is a myth every circuit logs the times of any car than does a lap.there is no record of it anywhere,there for it did not happen
