INSANE Koi Pond for RESTAURANT - Before and After Transformation

What a transformation! California Waterscapes were honored to build a Koi Pond for for the breathtaking panoramic view steak house Castaway in Burbank, California that has been voted among the top 50 date-night restaurants in the country.
Our design features a split level koi pond, filled with colorful fish and water lilies. This pond is about 3 ft deep in the deepest area, with plenty of fish caves for the koi to shelter in. This pond has already gone through numerous cycles of koi breeding due to the healthy water quality.

For a Koi pond do you just circulate the water or do you add any chemicals/treatment? Cheers

Great question Ben! We really pride ourselves at California Waterscapes in designing and building koi ponds that require NO chemicals. The waterfalls contain a biological filter. This is a chamber filled with lava rock that we seed with beneficial bacteria (like an enzyme in your stomach). As the water flows through this chamber, the bacteria consume the nutrients algae needs to survive. We also add aquatic plants that consume lots of nutrients as well, this combo basically starves the algae out. Eliminating the need for cumbersome external filters and chemicals / algaecide.
