Milwaukee makes a cobalt line for hard metal, they are 3 sided for drill chucks as well as shock wave titanium drill bits for your impact driver.. I've had very good luck with each..

Thanks! I’ll have to take a look at those.

Spend some money and get a good set of drill bits from a supplier who works with machinists. You'll find some high quality stuff when you do some research. Also, you have to pay attention to your drill bit speeds, how much pressure you are putting on them (especially smaller bits), and use a decent quality cutting fluid for the bits to keep them cooler and to help maintain a sharper edge. Great video as I am just about to upgrade the lighting in my new trailer. You did an awesome job!

Thank you. I hadn’t really thought of looking for a machinist supplier. I’ve always just bought cheap bits, but that always comes back to bite me.

Drill steel in slow speed. Takes about 10 seconds longer, but bits stay sharper longer. Aluminum, drill as fast as you want/can.

But I'm so impatient..... Good point on the speed. I tend to remind myself to slow down after the fact :-)

You should install the last two lights, recessed into the floor, covered with plexiglass. So you can have lights if you ever work underneath the car

That's a fantastic idea! Thanks!

Seems like the rock lights would have been better on the sides than the “flood” lights. Well done! Helpful video

Those darn rock lights are bright. I may add a few more along the bottom edges to supplement. So far they are all working great.

I setup my 20ft cargo trailer almost exactly like you did. Love the lights but I am having issues with my interior light switch melting after using it for longer than a couple minutes.
@DrivingForwardBuilds9 ай бұрын
That’s interesting…. How many lights did you add? You should be able to add up the total amp draw and see if it exceeds the switch capability. Remember the wiring and switch the manufacture of the trailer used was as thin as possible to save money. Also it’s not fused. I would fuse the circuit at 10-15% more than the rated draw of the lights.
@frankwomack55209 ай бұрын
I installed all 8 lights. I used same lights and switches that you used in your video. I think i got the issue fixed. I put each switch on its own fuse circuit like you did but I think i had the ground wires mixed up on the switch. after swapping things around so far no more melted switches @@DrivingForwardBuilds

Hey man I have a couple questions about the wiring from the switch to the fuse block. Is there a way to get in touch with you to talk it over?

All the drill bits suck.Under 1/8th inch.I think we put side pressure on them and that’s what breaks them.Try keeping them sharp.Good luck.I enjoy your Video’s good job.

Thanks for the comment. I think you're right about the side pressure. I get impatient, push harder, break a bit and then wonder why.....
