Good to hear. We in upstate New York are glad to report ospreys are common and Bald Eagles . I watched an osprey grab a pike this summer. It was too big to lift, so the bird paddled with its wings to shore, dragging the fish all the way.

The Osprey is my favorite bird. I was working in Burbank California. There was city for at least 15 miles in every direction. To my suprise, on top of a telephone pole was an Osprey. We were working next to the concrete lined Los Angeles River. A small stretch of river where we were has a natural gravel and rock bottom. This Osprey was living in the city fishing in the Los Angeles River. I've seen plenty of Osprey in Montana where I go every year to fish. This was the first and only one I've seen in Los Angeles. I love your picturs, thank you.

Great photography! Thanks! Here's an Osprey story for you. Many years ago in the Florida Keys, several sailboats were built at "the House of Goats and Boats." One resident named his sloop the Osprey. When it came time to step on the mast, a big party was gathered at a local harbor to help assist him. As soon as Bill hanked on the sails and the boat came to life, we heard a bird shriek above and looked up just as an Osprey landed on the top of the mast! As the flotilla of sailboats set course for the Florida Bay, the Osprey took to flight with another shriek and led us sailors to open water, flying just ahead in the lead. It was a magic time.

I live in London miles away from ospreys but I had the joy of seeing the Arkaig and Loch of the Lowes osprey family last year and since then they're my favourite raptor. I've never seen them before. Looking at the live cam at Loch Arkaig is just great. I didn't see any in flight over water so I was glad to be able to watch your wonderful footage and enjoy your narration. The osprey, like all raptors are under protection here in the UK and they have made an amazing comeback after having been hunted to extinction in the last century here. Photos do not do justice to this Majestic bird , Ospreys are an awesome sight to see , I was one of the fortunate ones who had an off spray fish and eat on a pine tree across the street from my house , An Osprey landed on a pine tree in Port Charlotte Florida eating what was fished out of the water canals , about a hundred yards away from behind my house I used a small rifle scope and try to look at it from in between the branches of an oak tree , looking at me moving its head up and down a couple times determining that I was a threat of some sort immediately took off , on the next occasion it landed again on the same tree ... I took my camera out and started taking pictures and filming it , for some reason I was tolerated and it just sat there eating its meal , it was an amazing sight to see .

As a fly fisherman in the Rockies, I love and am in awe of Osprey. Seeing them fish is always a welcome distraction - they are undeniably better fishers than me. Though we compete for the same fish, I release my catch; osprey cannot afford that indulgence.
