Great work Walter!! Customer seemed like a friendly guy, when I'm in the field I don't think I'll mind the helicopters too much; I love people and it's nice to talk with the customer. Motivation is key my friend, don't work too hard, peace

Thank you for thinking repair first. Younger generation thinks replace right away. U need to repair to become good all around hvac mechanic. Make good money repairing. U appear to be a young man. Good work ethic. Same job when people watch or not watch. When they watch all I talk about is how much people have tipped me for doing good job . Plant the seed. U have all the tools . Who trained u

I seen you had you left hand up on the unit while pulling wire off with the right, that can be a bad ending if the cap was charged or the disconnect bypassed and trust me, there's a bunch out there like that. So even though you discharged the cap terminals with pliers, it's always a good idea to only have one hand touching any wiring/component and stay on your insulated shoes. I've nailed myself in the past, right hand on live wire and right knee on damp ground, much cussing was emitted and I jumped violently into the air. LOL

for the capacitors, strap one in and double zip-tie the second to the first, it looks better that way or carry a roll of plumbing strap and self tapers. I know companies don't like supplying such things and cost can be an issue. I don't like making new holes myself, seen many odd setups with tubing close to the box which you could easily run into.

You don’t need to connect the green ground wire, just cut it off. The motor itself is the ground to the shroud.

I do watch repair man in my home but I'm learning as I watch because I'm a tinkerer as well. I do talk to them so they will feel comfortable. If it's a big job I will leave them alone. HVAC people I let them go do their thing outside without being around them. I feel you though hell I would help out too.

homeowner helping, watching or asking multiple questions can be very distracting, causing you to miss crucial things and steps.. if we wanted help, majority of us would ask right up front or say I may need some help, I'll ask you when needed! I've been in various trades starting early 90's and had my share of fork-ups, which most always involved helicopter-hovering customers trying to "help", "learn the trade" or "endless driveling" on about non-sensical things. teaching is very hard and not my forte.

Good fix and video, just curious a lot of those older York H2R straight cool units had 850 RPM outdoor motors. I know you couldn't read the tag, but just curious if you checked. I remember how large of a pitch those blades had which had the slower motors for lower sound. Take care out there.

these newer York units have a bad reputation due to the Microchannel condensing coil as they are flipping leakers. as many tech say change the unit. as a suitable unit like a Goodman unit can replace it. as its a disaster with the microchannel coil York did and with the 410A refrigerant they use.

I dont think he'll ever go back with the original motor because the compressor will go bad before that motor that you replaced does and hes not going to pay to have the job done twice. Also it looks like a pretty old unit probably R22.
