I'm in the middle of a horror story in college right now, I live with other people on a flat and two of them are dating. They keep trying to mess with me in little ways (turning lights off/on, not flushing the toilet, taking food) and whenever I complain to the management they tell me it's not their problem. being a racist is not a mental problem, it's a survival mechanism, it tens do happen to people who had bad moments with black people in the past, either bulling, they were abused, mugged etc.. racism doesn't happen for no reason, someone had to do something that made that person hate all blacks or arabs or asiasn etc.. the same way black people are racist towards white people because of the US past, racism will never go away as long as things like black life's matter and islam etc.. keeps existing, it reminds us that we are not equal and we are fighting each other.

I rented a four bedroom apartment on campus for over 4 years. For three of those years I had 5 different sets of roommates from many different cultures and ethnicities with no problems. The last year however was hell. 3 guys from Nepal moved in during the Winter break when I was visiting my parents, so they had lived there for three weeks by the time I met them. I had walked into hell. It seemed as if every single thing they had as food had been left out to rot. The refrigerator and freezer were empty. They smoked hookah and scorched whole square feet of the carpet. Roaches crawled on the walls. Speaking to then about it did nothing. I went as far as to clean the place myself, which only lasted a day. I contacted management to no avail, which infuriated me as this is their property (as well as my residence) they are letting be destroyed. I asked if I could transfer out of the apartment. They said no as there were no vacancies. I asked if I could terminate my lease on the grounds that they are making me live in absolute filth, they said only if I paid the full amount of the lease, which would make sense in normal cases but this was not one. The only option I had, per management, was to transfer the lease to someone else. Needless to say, not a single person wanted to live in this cesspool. I decided I was done with that shit and moved into my girlfriend's house, still paying rent for a place I did not reside. I went to the apartment each day to document what was happening so my innocence would be protected. Fast forward to the end of the semester: the apartment was infested with German cockroaches, their dog (not allowed by the way) had left diarrhea stains on what remained of the carpet, spoiled food had stained the counter tops, trash bags were piled as high as the refrigerator and vomit was dried up and crispy on every toilet lid. It was the end of the lease period and a week before everyone was poised to move out, management went in to inspect the apartments. They were agape at the carnage and treatened us each with huge punitive fines. The estimate they sent me was over $2,500 in repairs, cleaning fees, and pest extermination. So I emailed the corporate headquarters every piece of documentation I had, including the multiple complaints I had made to management staff. They responded by excluding me of fines and refunding me the rent of those past 6 months. Always. Document. Everything.

My roommate freshman year was crazy, it's all funny now but at the time it was insane. It started out as just weird stuff like washing her clothes in the sink because the "bugs would get it" in the washing machine or dying her black hair black again or pretending she couldn't understand English. It ended with her beating me into a desk while she was drunk. In the end I was forced to move out, which bothered me because it felt like my fault, but my RA was helpful and campus police took care of everything. It is disappointing to hear that students living on the campus cannot feel safe. Overall, I'm really glad the university is being held accountable for this because they cannot just sit by while their students live in an unsafe environment. I'm totally not about coddling young adults, but when the campus has done nothing against physical threats to you something has to be done.

Except that when you look at the facts, this looks more like a case of reverse-racism. It seems far more likely that these two girls didn't like each other and that the one making the accusations setup the girl she didn't like. Been seeing some of that on the campus near me. The people doing this kind of thing go through lengthy efforts setup their victims. What likely happened is that BOTH of these girls are equal d-bags, where going at each other like literal cats and then one pulled the "I'm a victim" card when both were the aggressors.

There's a lot of outrage here, students just hosted a Justice for Jazzy rally that lasted a good couple hours. So far as I've heard from the campus news, the roommate has been arrested and her crime has been elevated to a first rank hate crime. Not only is she being arrested she's also being charged with a felony. UHart is trying to handle the situation, but I think they've already messed it up by not acting fast enough. People here are super pissed of, and rightfully so.

Good. Screw her. She deserves it. She was essentially poisoning Jazzy. Jazzy's health was getting progressively worse and had to miss school to go to doctors. And that girl did it with the full *laughing* intent to make her sick. It's completely unacceptable. Had things gotten worse, she might have killed Jazzy with the tampering she was doing. One of her statements 'it went where the sun don't shine' sounds like she used Jazzy's toothbrush to scrub her butt or something(which is certainly believable since she was already putting vaginal blood on Jazzy's backpack). Stuff like that and the mold could have eventually given Jazzy a serious and potentially life altering infection. And the throat problems indicate that. So had she gotten off scott free I would have been extremely angry. She deserves prison time for this. If she didn't want to get in trouble, all she had to do is be a respectable human being.
@MrSubejio7 жыл бұрын
Wait, how did that girl not get taken up on something more serious than "Criminal Mischief?" She was systematically poisoning her roommate for more than a month, actions that resulted in multiple medical visits, trips to specialists, and missed classes for the victim. Doctors fees and emotional trauma are going to bankrupt her, I imagine.

I had a similar situation with my freshmen year roommate. She would take videos of me sleeping and post about me on social media. She acted like I didnt exist and when she did have something to "say" to me she would just leave aggressive notes on my desk. She never messed with my things but when I got sick before thanksgiving break (mono, could barely breathe because my tonsils and adenoids were so swollen) she brought a group of girls into our room to watch me snore and had her phone up to video me. She got angry when she realized that I wasn't snoring anymore (not realizing I was awake) and then brought guys into our room to move her mattress into someone else's room. After they failed and she left the room I got up to take more pain meds (that would only last me until two days before break so I had been sleeping as much as possible and trying to conserve them) I ran into her in the hallway and I flipped shit. I screamed at her about how rude and inconsiderate she had been and how I was sick and didnt want to put up with her crap anymore. That morning I called my parents and got them to come pick me up a week before the break started and I got better at home and had my schoolwork emailed to me. My RAs and hall director did nothing to help my situation and the rest of the year I spent all of my time at my boyfriend's house and only slept in my own room maybe 20 days after coming back from break. I still kick myself over how I just let her walk all over me and push me out of my own room. I found out later that she had been letting people have sex in my bed before and after I "moved out" With my bedsheets and in my stuff. Yah, needless to say those got burned. I got my revenge though, she dropped out after sophomore year and I'm about to graduate!

You know, I'm tired of hearing about universities down playing these things. The students at these places are adults, they don't need a stern talking to, they need to take responsibility. All cases of crimes committed on campus need to be handling by the actual law, not a school code of conduct. The fake 'campus officers' have no real legal authority but like to think they do. So the students these crimes are perpetrated against suffer from forced silence while a criminal adult gets a slap on the wrist in the form of a warning. As for terrorism in the States, unless you have blood diamonds and heroine to sell, good luck out funding terrorists. Bullets are cheaper, sad to say but these people gave up on peace long ago. There is a point where you have to draw a line.

She should definitely be on the hook for anything related to the bacterial throat/flu symptoms she had and any travel expenses she incurred. Usually I hate the words "punitive damages" too but I'd also like to see her go for that and she's more than entitled to it. It's emotionally distressing and extremely stressful to have that happen to you, and no doubt Jazzy has developed some form of anxiety due to this entitled bitch.

University of Hartford student here. Woodward sent out a mass email to the students about 12 hours ago that Brianna Brochu, the perpetrator, has been expelled from the university and has been stripped of any of the scholarships the institution gave her. Edit: Since people are asking for the email, I'm posting it here. Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff, I am writing this morning to provide further updates on the deeply disturbing situation involving our students. As of this morning, Brianna Brochu is no longer a student at the University of Hartford. She will not be returning to the institution. There has been an outpouring of concern for the victim of these acts from across the University and the country. In my meeting with her yesterday, I reiterated my personal commitment to ensuring she has all available personal and academicresources the University can provide. As I said yesterday, the University took action immediately once these allegations were brought to our attention. University Public Safety was first notified and responded to this incident at 11:48 p.m. on October 17. The reprehensible conduct of the involved student was not known by the victim or the University until that time. By 1:12 a.m. the West Hartford Police Department was notified and processes for legal and University conduct began. A no-contact order was put into place and the case was turned over to local authorities by 2:16 a.m. It is clear there is work to be done at our University to ensure that all students feel safe, respected, and valued. The conversations that began with student groups, faculty, and staff yesterday are going to continue and involve our full community. I am dedicated to that mission and will continue to share additional information about opportunities for our path forward in meaningful dialogue and action. Greg Woodward President

Man, you want a story I got one. In my first year of university I lived in a studio flat by myself (in student accommodation). I'm a foreign student and this was the first time I lived alone. I was a little scared because not only did I not live with my parents anymore, I lived in a completely different country. I knew nobody. I quickly made friends because of this. I didn't want this to get me down and I felt that by making friends I'd get over my homesickness. The girls I befriended all lived in a 4 bedroom flat in the building next to me. Two of them I was close friends with, the other 2 girls I was friendly with but I didn't really hang out with them. In this time we decided that the following year we'd go into a house share because it was cheaper that way (the two girls and I). I had the chance to trade rooms with one of the girls that lived there. I said to myself "I should do that just to be sure that I want to be in a house with these girls next year." Thank the fucking lord I chose to move in with them before I was really stuck with them. One of the girls didn't actually live in the country I study in. While she is from here, she lived elsewhere with her family. Her family was still there while she traveled here on her own. At some point she came to us and said that something was going on with her family. She told us that her father cheated on her mother, very specifically telling us that it was with elder men (Surprise guys, she's a homophobe and racist). She asked if her mother and 14 year old sister could stay in our flat for 2 weeks. We all said yes of course. "Girls gotta stick together!" you know? If we could help the mother of our friend and the little sister out of a negative situation, then of course we would! Imagine our confusion when the father moves in. This is the very obvious first lie. If the mother wanted to split up and find a place to stay to be away from the guy, then this wasn't the solution. Taking him with you across the border isn't going to help. Something was up. But we remained silent. She was our friend and we wanted to be by her side in her time of need. Months pass. This family remains mostly in the girl's room. They have obvious money issues. They don't move out because they have nowhere to go. Whenever there was a chance of them going anywhere, there would always be a problem. For instance, they were given about $14,000 which mysteriously disappeared while they still lived with us. Or another one, a house they wanted to move into had problems with mould so they couldn't move in. Constantly there were excuses. So at this time we're just being students. We are young girls living here together. But we can't really just do our thing because at the same time, there was a family living there too. They'd eat our food, use our stuff, mooch off of us, invade our privacy and just make us feel uncomfortable. This all while not paying rent or anything else for that matter. At this time I was starting to fall ill as well. I didn't feel safe in my own home. I started hinting that they had to leave. I was scared to say it straight up. What can you do? You're all on your own while living with people you don't know who are basically 4 versus 1. One day however, I decided that I would hint it a bit more strongly. I went into our facebook chat and said "My mother is visiting next week. She doesn't know your family is still there. If she finds out, she'll report it." I made my mother out to be the bad guy which she was obviously fine with (what does she care). I sit down in the living room and this girl storms at me and starts screaming at me. She calls me every bad name in the book and is basically blaming the whole horrible situation she is in on me. She starts attacking me for being messy and blaming me for the state the house was in. Note that she was losing her shit over me not noticing my towel fell next to the sofa after being around me neck for a while. Not actually you know, a big deal. She'd blame me for everything that was wrong in the flat while I just kind of sat there. At this point the friendship was over. I wasn't any longer silently taking it and she didn't like that. So she made sure to make me feel horrible. I broke down. I had a massive panic attack and I called my dad. I calmed down the moment I heard he was trying to come over to me (As I mentioned before, I live abroad so this would be a major inconvenience to him). I didn't want him to waste his time like that and put him in a stressful situation. So I said I'd come back home for a week myself. My teacher and I talked about it and he was completely ok with it, understanding the situation. I went home and basically recharged. My mom and I both traveled to where I live now (she always planned to visit). The flat was silent. We thought they'd left. I'd go to class and my mom would just hang about while I focused on my classes. But she'd hear them when they thought we were gone. She told me that if I were to do anything they'd have to live on the street and that would be my fault. Now I'm not stupid. Maybe at the start I was naive and feeling good about myself for being kind to these people but you don't emotionally blackmail me and get away with it. This girl didn't give a flying fuck about anyone but herself. I reported their asses. Apparently they'd been reported before but there wasn't enough evidence (the staff can't just enter a room so they couldn't confirm it). But the staff went for it this time. Turns out, the girl hadn't paid rent at all. Thousands of dollars unpaid while secretly and illegally keeping people there. So a large argument ensued because of that. More and more information surfaced. This is where it honestly started to get ridiculous. Apparently they'd lied about where they were from. They had different locations on every single official document as well as on all their social media. The father was on the run for not paying taxes or something like that. He was also a prostitute and actively working while he was living with us. (Of course no judgement, although I felt it was slightly inappropriate given the situation). They also had a damn cat in that filthy room (I've seen it holy shit it was bad), which they adopted while living here. And the 14 year old just sat there all day long turns out. She didn't go anywhere didn't get to go to school or shit. I just felt bad for the young sister. She was forced to post selfies on Facebook pretending they were still living where they used to live, while in reality she wasn't even allowed to go outside. Young girl shouldn't be trapped in a room with her parents like that, forced to lie for them. So the staff leaves for a little bit and I've honestly never seen anything more satisfying in my life. Takes a whole family 5 minutes to grab everything they own and rush the fuck out of a flat let me tell you. They fucking ran as fast as they could with trash bags and suitcases. The girl ended up being allowed to stay. I don't know why she wasn't at least moved to another flat but I wasn't staying there with her there. I moved to a different flat. But not before I turned off the fridge with rotting food inside of it, put spoiled eggs behind the heater, left all their dishes unwashed, put all the trash they didn't take out opened in the room with the heater on max, closed the windows and fire doors so that it would reek horribly. It would be a month before anyone would return to that flat because it was spring break. At the end of spring break I was unfriended on facebook, which I'm guessing meant they found my gift to them. In the end, I should have figured out earlier they were all horrible people. One time I spent 8 hours decorating the entire flat and making christmas dinner. When I went to my room and sat down they sent me a message saying "When are you going to clean it?" Man honestly I cried. They didn't even thank me for any of it. I got out of the house share with them and at the start of the second year, the story had become an urban legend. A guy at a party came up to me and my friends and said "Did you hear the story about this family living at X" and I just sat there and said "Boy I lived that story, that is my story". Moral of the story: Don't settle for shitty friends because you're scared. Everyone wants friends in first year, if the first few people you meet aint your thing, don't force yourself to stay with them.

Nya* Love you story, almost similar thing happened to me. I used to settle for the worst people I secretly knew deep down were no good, and less than me not in a negative way but that I just had to pity and get along with because I didn’t want to upset them and I wanted to be friends with. Advice to others.. .it never works out and would never. If you deep down know and get an amazing, cool person and you afraid to meet them because you think they won’t like you back don’t be. They probably like you too. You don’t and shouldn’t settle for people you don’t really like and you might think one day they would be great because they won’t.
@themudpit6217 жыл бұрын
yeah, listen, you leaving eggs behind the heater - not cool. Albeit through naivety, you were a party to the whole thing, and when told to leave, they left. You could have done that a lot sooner and while I realise you were trying to be kind, you also have to accept your part in it. Punishing that student with the terrifying family with hidden stink - yeah, you lost me there too, but I do understand, it's a natural human response - hard to resist.
@sue27477 жыл бұрын
They didn't just leave when they were asked to. They were reported multiple times by not just me but by other people living in and around this flat. They were asked kindly to leave by myself several times and they were given at least 3 more serious time limits to actually leave. It's a long story, so I definitely missed some details here and there (It's been 4 years as well). A few times they pretended to not even be there anymore to get me off their back. But they definitely didn't just leave when they were asked to. As for the stinky room.... It's extremely easy to take the moral high ground on this. Everyone in the flat left for a month long holiday and decided to leave me with their trash, dishes and expiring food. They didn't know I was moving out. They left it knowing I'd have to clean it up. Except I didn't because it wasn't my problem. Eggs weren't hidden either. Heater is pretty open and in plain sight. Would take them a second to find the source. They'll get over it. They were horrible human beings. They did horrible things. Immature as it was, I am happy I did what I did.
@themudpit6217 жыл бұрын
Hi Nya. Now that you've given a bit more detail, an egg or two is just desserts. I never said they left when asked, only that they left when TOLD to, they clearly weren't responding to any requests! What amazed me in your story is that the student wasn't kicked out, and YOU had to move to a new flat! I, like you, am kind, and I've been taken advantage of a lot, so I guess, the point of my comment was to help you see how your softness and kindness helped prolong things NOT that it was your fault! I can, as I said totally understand your actions I just wanted to point out, that as a big softie, there are some things we can control, and our assertiveness is one of them. Having said that, I still let people get the better of me, and I'm a grandmother now, so maybe it's not so easy to control after all! Thanks for sharing your story.

I have had 1 roommate and she is the reason I live on my own. We knew each other threw friends. She had to have 5 alarms clocks! Actual clocks (set 10min apart starting at 4am),then she had the nerve to have a party and invite a guy, she'd knew was Sexually harassing me at work. And as I was away see family that night, I had received a txt of him on my bed and was Masturbating. Horrified I called her to why she allowed this, she told me " he is my friend and can do anything he wants." With that I had told her to move out. As I stayed with family till she was gone. I returned home and was happy to have peace and quite. Then Walking into the kitchen had seen what I thought was rice all over the counter and sink. they were not scattered rice but Maggots,she had shove raw meat in the disposal. Resulting that mess. Then for weeks after she had gone.I was having headaches,nosebleeds and passing out. I thought it was flu or something but lasted for 3weeks. Well threw some further review of my apt, they found that my Pilot light in my water heater and furnace having blown out. And how high amount carbon oxide was in my appt . They told me it been out for a while. Calling my roommate her mother answered telling me she had tried to commit suicide but was helped in time. Her mother Continues to tell me she tried the old stick your head In the oven. And it all hit me she was trying to kill herself but I was the one being slowly being Poisoned. So I say again! I live alone for a reason.

Gotta love how educational institutions refuse to properly deal with things, until they themselves stand to lose things. After two years of homophobic harassment against one kid being blatantly ignored by my secondary school (ages 11-16), the school held an assembly saying not to bully gay people AS WE WERE PREPARING TO LEAVE. You hear the same thing all the time about all kinds of bullying and this situation is no different. They say they're handling it, it's been reported to the police, but it's not until people *outside* are talking about it that they do anything; making themselves even more transparent by quickly saying "This doesn't represent us." Almost remotely convincing, waxing gibbous man

My sisters girlfriend moved in with my family for about 6 or 7 months. After dealing with dog shit and piss around the house from her dog, smoking pot in the garage (which made the whole house smell) , late night antics keeping me from sleeping, parking behind me so I can't leave my house, stealing money, the inconvenience of her sleeping in the kitchen, also the fridge and pantry had become HER fridge and pantry with no room for anyone's else's food. And just because I got home from work at 3am and the front door would wake her up, when I got home she decided to put Comet in my prepped food for the week. When confronted she denied doing it but offered to move out.. Guess I deserved to be poisoned for working 12 hour days and walking into my own house. Should have known ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had to take a medical withdrawal because my depression got really really bad. Things kept getting in the way of me moving my stuff out of my dorm. I broke my elbow a week or two before the time I had to clear out my things by, so my aunt and uncle who work at the university met up with my parents and I to help pack up and bring boxes to the car. The dorms were apartment style, so my roommate and I had separate bedrooms. When I opened the door to my room, the place was ransacked. All of my belongings that were worth anything significant had been thrown into a basket, next to which I found a paper listing all my valuables, and how much they could be sold for, all in my roommate's handwriting. Twenty minutes later, as my uncle is coming out of my room with a box, I get back into my roommate's door. When I turn around, I see my (old and damaged) pair of astro A40s sitting on his bed. So, luckily I caught those, but he still managed to steal my new pair that I had bought with graduation money, as well as my limited edition new 3ds xl, and a few other things. He tried to get the RA to let him off, because he thought they were just going to throw it all away anyways. Thankfully, with that admission and all the other evidence he ended up getting charged with a felony for larceny in a building, and he got kicked out of the school.

Why people think that because you don't like people, it is alright to hurt them. Communication is slowy becoming a think of the past, no conflict resolution, no one for people to go to get help with conflict resolution. The university should have a person on staff for sure things. Poor Jazzy and I think she should get the rotten roomate's scholorship. I think we are going to be hearing a lot more sexual abuse and rape in Hollywood because those who have been attacked have been silenced too long can now open up, becaue this a can of worms that is never ending because we as a society have allowed it to go on way too long. thanks for sharing.

I don't really buy into the whole "leftism, rightism" thing. I feel that is just an excuse. We can make up our own minds on how we should treat each other and "isms" should not be a true thing any more but people love to hate because for many it is easier than to learn to love, tolerate and understand. You must practice positivity to be able to do it. To say, I hate you because I was raised that way, I was taught that way, I am told to is just an excuse and we can, if we choose to rise above it. But sadly few choose.

@HAHAHAHAHA4777 жыл бұрын
Well minus the fact that our first instinct to a threat is to fight. I think most people have been raised without being taught any form persuasion or resolution skills. Even when we're our kids, we're told that to tell our teacher if we have a problem with someone without going to the person we have a problem with and coming to a peaceful consensus. Telling the teacher just makes the person resent you even more. And whats even worst is that most of the time the school does a terrible job and fixing the problem as well. Also, if the school does its job it doesn't solve the problem just suppresses it.

Having my own experiences, having my friends and family who have theirs, and hearing horror stories like this, I really have to feel like universities should never, ever force people into dorm life. It was ridiculous to me to hear I would have to live on campus for a year at most. It was even more ridiculous when I'd heard it would be the same room, no privacy. And these horror stories, as egregious as they are, don't quite scratch the surface. There's the psychological effects of the abject lack of privacy you have near literally no escape from, and that's assuming your roommate has not shunned you and you feel isolated and hurt by that. Then there's noisy and messy roommates. Then there's the food situations on campus, wherein you can't have a hot plate or anything, so guess what - either feed your money back into the university at often exorbitant prices for the food or meal plans, or eat processed crap that you can microwave. It seems like a total loss in every sense, and we should not continue to propagate it in the name of tradition, some imagined lesson the experience imparts, or, most likely, for the profit and ease of the universities. Forcing students to pay for housing or not attend, while also shoving them into small, singular rooms with no privacy because it's easier to set up and maintain is disgusting. Forcing them into it? Give them studio rooms, even if small. Give them living spaces and two doors, with fucking LOCKS, to prevent these invasive, disgusting horror stories. Don't want to do that? Let them live off campus. At best, you get along with your roommate, despite a lack of privacy. At worst, it's a hellish experience that should not be forced upon people seeking higher education, least of all to the tune of thousands in debt before any psychological toll. This needs to change.

In my freshman year I had two roomates in a 6x11ft room, too small for two people let alone three. They were oaky roommates, mostly annoying but one event changed everything. So one girl had her own bed, myself and the other roommate had a bunk bed, which I had the bottom bunk since I had early classes. One night my roommate woke me up saying "don't move, I have to get your blaket off of you." I was very confused but did what she said. When I got out of my bed and turned the light on I found my roommate that sleeps above me had gotten drunk and threw up all over my bed, and rug, while I was sleeping. I moved out 3 days later.

All her belongings were in trash bags, she never put sheets on her bed, she would leave her used underwear in our rooms common area, she would also eat everyones food right out of their mini-fridge without permission. We brought it up to her as a group, even bringing in the floors Residential Advisor. We thought we had worked it out. By the next week EVERYONE on our floor completely HATED us with a passion. No one would tell us anything. All 3 of us were completely shunned and even bullied. Nothing huge, just small things like someone intentionally bumping into us when we walked by. But still it hurts to see that reaction in people who you thought were your friends. This went on for almost 2 months until one morning we were woken up by police at our door. They said they were coming in to search for drugs and a knife we had used to ATTEMPT TO STAB HER IN HER SLEEP!! All three of us were in complete shock. We agreed and let the police enter. 2 of us were attending school on scholarships. One for sports, mine for academics. The school contacted us saying that our scholarships were going to be stripped if her claim was proven true. They also transferred her to a nicer dorm. After a week the police saw a post on facebook where she bragged about her plan to make use lose our scholarships.. And when they confronted her she admitted to making it all up to “GET A NICER DORM FOR FREE.” She was the one shunned by everyone after that, and we kept our scholarships.

Colleges don't care about students because they don't have to. Demand for college is so high- despite the ridiculous buy-in price, people still keep funneling in . You can partially thank public schools for that, telling kids that college is the only way to have a good career. Government fixed the demand, and now colleges have an unfair market advantage over trade schools, and therefore have no reason to respond in such a way to make themselves look good. They can teach whatever they want and treat students however they want, and they'll still rake in the cash.

I'm currently in my freshman year of college, and I was rooming with a girl I've known for 17 years. I knew she had issues with mental illness, which made me nervous about having to be responsible for her, but I thought our bond would be strong enough to help her through her issues. Starting THE DAY we moved in, she was insulting towards me, telling me I was ugly, my hair looked dead, I was stupid, and only referred to me as "bitch", which although that was annoying, I could still deal with it. No matter what I did she would find a way to yell at me about it, even down to shutting the curtains in the morning. Basically, I wasn't welcome in my own dorm that I was paying thousands of dollars for. One night I invited a friend over, we left to get food, came back, and by 11:30 we were all asleep. I woke up to friends sending me screenshots of her complaining about how I was such a bitch for not "making her soup" while she was sick, and how all night she laid in bed crying and I didn't say I thing to her (Keep in mind this was after I had already driven her to target, bought her NyQuil, given her melatonin to help her sleep, and offered her my Tylenol) After I refused to apologize for not acting like her personal butler, I came home to my roommate missing, and all of my things thrown over to my side of the room. It was completely upended, she even took the time to throw my rug off of her side of the floor. Our microwave was thrown on my side as well as basically everything I owned (she threw them so hard there were dents in the wall). She also left a handwritten threat on my desk, threatening me that she'd beat the shit out of me if I didn't apologize. So I reported her and she was removed from the dorm :) a few days later she called me SOBBING and asking "how I could be so cruel" for reporting her for threatening me. Needless to say, I now live alone (after 5 weeks of begging for a room change) and she is well on her way to failing out of college.

unknown she never said that... I have mental illness as well.. and most people with actual illnesses.. aren't like that at all.. her roomate didn't sound like she had a mental illness.. she sounded like a sociopath with all that manipulative/controlling behavior and Gaslighting.. What is wrong with your comment is you are assuming anyone who acts weird or nasty has a mental illness.. which alot of the time.. the person who acts in that manner..is just a piece of shit. No matter if someone has a Mental illness or not.. that behavior is not acceptable for anyone. And mental illness is never a good excuse for how someone acts so rude.. if they are that bad off.. they need to get help... but true mental illness.. and Straight manipulation.. arr two very diffrent things people sure like to pair for an excuse.

wow. gosh I feel so bad for Jazzy! I hope things only get better from here for her That roommate deserves to lose her scholarship. if she appreciated it she would be bending over backwards to display good behavior and not do anything to jeopardize it. that seems so ungrateful, she's lucky enough to be able to go to college & have a place to stay and then so thoroughly abuse her roommates wellbeing shows she doesn't appreciate any of the opportunities she's been given. which disgusts people like me who weren't given any help or opportunities and have been self taught since 3rd grade.

I’m ashamed to admit I was the roommate from hell. When I first started college I had two roommates and they loved partying. They were always kind to me and always invited me but after the first few times I just didn’t see the appeal. So I stayed in and would get super antsy and annoyed when they’d come in late and drunk and wake me up. So, I started posting on my public blog about it. I think the worst thing I did was post a video of one of them snoring. The rest was mostly just me being morally set against drinking and partying and sharing their secrets in a public domain that I had no business sharing. Eventually someone found my blog and spread it around campus. My roommates felt understandably unsafe around me after that and I was moved across campus. I got really lucky actually because the university I was at opted into a points based system where, as long as I agreed to delete the content, this would just be a first strike and would be removed if I didn’t do anything else of note for a year. I was allowed up to three strikes.But, later that year, I hypocritically got super drunk and threw up on a common room sofa, so I got my second strike there. After that I was an absolute shut in and didn’t do anything lest I get kicked out. Thankfully I learned my lesson about how being a shitty roommate can get you nearly kicked out of your dream school, and I spoke to those original roommates later and earned their forgiveness (I think).

An a resident assistant for my college, it angers me that the despicable ex roommate of jazzy mentioned she asked for a room switch. In residence halls, there are usually only a few rooms open which are generally only used for emergencies (ie physical violence, fighting, etc.) so asking for a room change usually takes time if the reason is something like a, “I don’t like her... she’s weird... she snores...”. At my personal college we try to give the roommates the tools to overcome their challenges and find ways to coexist peacefully like adults. Being denied a room change is NOT a reason to be disgusting and disrespectful toward a roommate one doesn’t particularly like. Her immaturity astounds me.

My college roommate was unhinged. She didn’t shower ever in the entire first term, left food on her desk for days until there were bugs in our room. She insisted on placing her bed in front of the window on the highest setting basically blocking the window and refused to allow our over head light on at any time. I lived in almost darkness my first term. When the school finally allows me to move into another room, it was only down the hall. She would come to my room and pound on the door in the middle of the night and she’d tell me she missed me. I started having to have campus police escort me back and forth to classes. She didn’t return after winter break and never took her stuff. When they cleaned out the room, they found dried poop, cups of pee, and other body fluids all over.

When I was a freshman me and my roommate/best friend knew a girl named Chelsea. She was a nice girl who wasn't so great at social cues. Chelsea's roommate Alison was a nightmare. She would lock Chelsea out of their room, throw parties without her permission, and the final straw was when someone threw up on Chelsea's bed. All she wanted was for someone to pay to have the sheets cleaned, but instead Alison put raw bacon in the bed. This was specifically because Chelsea was Jewish and kept kosher. The school moved Chelsea to a new room and Alison got off with a 'talking to.' After learning of the whole situation me and my roommate went down to her room and poured a mixture of sour milk and mustard all over the floor. Don't think I ever saw her again.

As a freshman at the university of hartford i can say that in support of jazzy our community has been going nuts about this, we hosted a rally for her that had to be relocated to a bigger building because too many people where reaching out to support her. although even with the student and teacher population being great the university is basically brushing it under the rug this is the email that the president of the school sent us: From: Students on behalf of President Gregory Woodward Sent: Wednesday, November 1, 2017 12:06 PM To: STUDENTS@LISTSERV.HARTFORD.EDU Subject: An Update From President Gregory Woodward Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff, I am writing this morning to provide further updates on the deeply disturbing situation involving our students. As of this morning, Brianna Brochu is no longer a student at the University of Hartford. She will not be returning to the institution. There has been an outpouring of concern for the victim of these acts from across the University and the country. In my meeting with her yesterday, I reiterated my personal commitment to ensuring she has all available personal and academic resources the University can provide.

My roommate from hell was one I got from the University housing board, and we didn't know each other beforehand. It was after I'd finished my undergrad and was working full time. She was in her second year at the same University, and initially when she came in to see the apartment, I thought things were going to be fine. We shared a lot of similar interests, and she and I would watch movies together, but she was always really quiet around me. Then she pledged a sorority and things started to get weird. She stopped hanging out at the apartment, she would lock herself away in her room and I could hear her playing video games, so obviously she wasn't studying. Then she stopped doing her fair share of chores, and when I brought it up, she would sheepishly duck into her room and say she'd get on it, but I'd be surprised if she even cleared her junk off the kitchen table. Then I noticed that all of our cutlery was missing, and steadily, the bowls and plates disappeared too. I knew she was hoarding them away in her room somewhere, but I wasn't going anywhere near that hazard trap, so I stuck with one spoon and fork with a mug and bowl that I washed daily and kept in my room. After three months, I came home and there was a mountain of filthy dishes stacked next to the sink. They were covered in bits of stuck on food and various types of spores and mold. And she left them there for days. No wonder she kept getting sick. I was furious. Fortunately she decided to move in with her "sisters" and could take her disgusting habitat with her. No idea what the hell was going on with her, but I've never lived with someone so gross in all my life.

The reason no one has made a claim for sexual harassment is probably just a result of the difference in power between the "man" and his victims. Hope you hear this one Phil. I was an RA for two years at college, and was made head RA for that second year (mostly due to how well I handled a situation that first year but I will get to that.) A big thing with these no contact agreements (speaking from having one falsely ordered against me and having had to discuss a few with students) is that they include that there shall be no third party contact. Technically if either girl in this situation felt any of those social media posts were an attempt to contact them, they could inform the University and subsequently get the poster in trouble with the University. Due to this I would often advise students to just not talk about it, but go on to explain why. I'd say student a and b have a no contact agreement and student a tells student c about it, THEN student c tells student b, technically student a contacted student b through third party (total bs in my opinion.) On that, often times universities want to hide possible scandals with the ongoing hear they take for ANYTHING that hits public view. Horror stories wise, I have many, having been an RA. My worst would be during my first few WEEKS of being an RA, at 1am on a Wednesday I got called because of a possible violent altercation. I get to the room to find one girl shouting at the top of her lungs that she was going to kill the other, and went so far as to throw furniture. Myself and my partner de-escalated the situation and separated the students for two days. Almost immediately I went to my supervisor and said 'they have to be split up. That one girl was looking to kill.' that staff leader just had then sit down and talk it out. Lo and behold, next semester I was talking a mid day nap (I worked every morning at five and was up until one with the RA duty, and took 23 credits a semester. I needed my beauty sleep) and was woken up by one of the roommates banging on my door shouting 'she's trying to kill her!' I really into the room to find that student who threw furniture coming the other. I knew I want physically allowed to touch either students (something they HAMMER into us so the University isn't accused of an employee assaulting a student). Eventually, after shooting 'the cops are right outside!' the girl gets off the other. I got subpoenaed to court for that case, but they settled so I never testified. I ended up getting in trouble for 'not advising their speration' but the University board, but was then commended when I gave THEM my statement (and subsequently got my supervisor fired.) And they way universities handle these cases is just gross to some degree. I was dating a girl for two months. When we split up, I was informed a no contact order was being issued. I met with the head of student affairs and was informed my now ex accused me off violently beating her. I became distraught. I grew up in a very abusive home for the majority of my childhood, and this ex knew, as many people know about me, my greatest fear is becoming an abuser. I would probably kill myself if it came to that. Immediately I went to my therapist on campus, and we successfully disputed it. But by the time we did I had been socialy isolated by this ex, and as a guy, you can't exactly open your feelings up about the situation, trust me, I tried. I found that clubs I had started, good of friends I had hung out with for two to three years now, events on campus, all of them I could no longer go to in fear of violating the order. The University did NO investigation, they heard the claim and blind sided me with a piece of paper. Just before the dispute had finalized I realized she was spreading lies about me, went to the head of SA, and told him I would comply with the agreement, but I would NOT stand for such false and malicious rumors. She ended up in trouble for a bit but that was it. When I was offered to have it removed, after I had proven I was in no way shape or form CAPABLE of abusing someone (thank God for a four year long psychological profile) I said I wanted it to stand, since that was the only way she couldn't talk about me. I rebuilt my reputation with the students, smashed myself into my friends groups and clubs, but damage was done. These universities don't investigate more than half the time, they 'can't afford' public ire. They will just slap an order down and be done with it. I understand what the RAs said, and perhaps they meant what I often would advise students, and I can feel this girl's pain. I am GLAD she spoke out, and I am So freaking happy that this... Garbage person of a girl is being investigated by the police.

One thing that stuck out in the University's statement is that after the authorities were made known of the situation, they claimed to relocate her to a safer dorm. But she moved before anyone knew what happened? It was her telling the roommate that she was moving out that caused the Instagram post. She didn't need to be relocated once the university was involved. It is a small detail, but it is weird that the school included false information in their statement.
@D0NtPh34rTh3R34p3R7 жыл бұрын
Skyler I think she was in the process of moving while this happened. Then the instagram post came and they probably expedited the process, it's getting down to minute details only the people involved would know.
@mechatama2957 жыл бұрын
Actually what should have stuck out was the fact that apparently according to the story she had been posting about what she was doing for that whole month and a half which would mean that not only the RA's that revealed the post but any number of students on campus were already fully aware of the situation.
@カスカディア国人7 жыл бұрын
Mecha Tama I think the fact that students were aware for a month and a half and did nothing is what bothers me most, I think people who deliberately didn't speak up on Jazzy's behalf and knew what was happening to her should be punished by the school too, that's what I'd do if I were the head of a school, I'd expel everyone I could prove was looking at those posts.

MISTAKE? What mistake? She's not 5; she a grown woman with a 4 year scholarship to a university and was posting her antics on social media. That all screams intent. She had capacity and competence. She deserves whatever consequences from that. BEYOND disgusting. If you don't like your roommate, either talk it out or move out. If that girl had a transmittable disease that she was/was not aware of, that's punishable by jail time. If ANYTHING, she should have her scholarship removed and be kicked out, b/c at this point, everyone knows what she did there- that's embarrassment enough.

D'Adriana Cooper OK I may have overstated that with the biologic warfare, but I still think at least a year and some serious therapy. My first year of collage, I was living on campus in a double suite. So that’s two rooms with three people each, that share a single toilet and shower. One of my roommates had her boyfriend come stay a weekend. That stay turned into six weeks. He wasn’t even a student at the school, and was aggressive and violent. He would punch holes in the walls of the dorm room. The university housing department refused to do anything, and I was finally able to move into a different dorm with a much better roommate. The following semester he was still living in that old dorm room.

Hi, I'm a student at the University of Hartford and this whole story is incredibly upsetting and disturbing. However, I'm noticing that every comment about the situation has fingers pointing towards the university, President Woodward, and how the situation was handled. Today, UHart being the small school that it is, students were offered the opportunity to sit down with President Woodward and ask any questions we wanted and have a discussion with him. A solid group of 10-15 of us showed up and sat around a table with him. At first, the questions were obvious things like "why did the process take so long?" "why did you wait weeks until taking action?" and naturally most students were annoyed by this. However, after hearing Woodward explain that the process went as fast as possible (with a whole bunch of details that I won't get into here-- but trust me, I was pissed about it at first too and now I understand) and how he shares the same opinions held by everyone on Jazzy's side, I truly believe the blame is not being placed where it should be. Brianna's actions are in no way a representation of our school or our student body. In fact, the conversation today became about how we can make our school an environment in which people like Brianna will never feel like they could get away with actions like hers. I wish the media and others would stop assuming and truly listen to our school and the students because we are just as upset as everyone else, but we are not upset at our school-- the school stands with us and against racism and related hate crimes. Thanks if you read this all.
