insane update! Genshin 2 is Officially Confirmed! Release Date, plus 5 free welkins - Genshin Impact

Recently , the developers of the popular game Genshin Impact have hinted at the release of a second installment. Today, I will discuss what we know so far about Genshin 2.
I'll cover the type of game it might be, potential main characters, and speculate on the setting and timing of the story.
First and foremost, the announcement of a second part was made by Xiao Luohao, the head of the Genshin Impact writing team, during a discussion with university students. He revealed that the current game's storyline only accounts for about one-third of the planned narrative, indicating there is much more content to come in the future.
While the full story may not be completed for some time, the developers have the resources to continue the journey in the form of a second installment.
As for the potential release timeline, we know that Genshin Impact is set to expand with at least three more regions: Natlan, Snezhnaya, and the ruined Khaenri'ah. Natlan is scheduled to be added by the end of this summer, and new regions are typically introduced annually. Considering this, the overall Genshin storyline may reach its conclusion around 2027.
Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that Genshin 2 could be released sometime between the end of 2027 and the beginning of 2028, which would be approximately 3-4 years from now. The journey ahead is far from over.
Regarding the main character, it's worth noting that in miHoYo's games, the protagonists are often designed to be blank slates, unfamiliar with the game's universe, allowing players to project themselves onto the character.
There are a few possibilities for the direction Genshin 2 could take:
1. A prequel, delving into the history of Teyvat and its legends before the arrival of the Traveler.
2. A completely new setting, perhaps on another continent or even a colonized planet, with different characters, lore, and mechanics, similar to Honkai Impact 3rd.
3. A direct sequel, potentially allowing players to continue their journey as the Travelers.
Regardless of the approach, it's likely that Genshin 2 will offer various rewards and free pulls for players upon its release, as is common practice for major updates

Here is my speculation for Genshin 2. Genshin 2 will take place before the Fall of Khaenri'ah and we will play as the abyss sibling. If you link your Hoyo account you’ll have to play as the other sibling, but you’ll get all of your archons in their archon outfits. I do t know about the storyline but it’s another 7 years of why Khaenri'ah fell. That’s just a theory tho

I think I'm the only guy who doesn't want Genshin Part 2 to be a prequel, simply because it'd come off as lazy. Remember, we're in the Teyvat Story Chapter. It'd make no sense for Hoyo to call it that if the game was forever going to be in Teyvat. And if for some reason they did decide to make Part 2 a prequel, by the time Part 1 ends, we'd still be in the Teyvat Story Chapter because we'd never leave Teyvat. They can easily reveal more things about the past as the story continues, we don't need a prequel. Honkai Impact 3rd's Part 2 wasn't a prequel and takes place on Mars, an entirely separate planet than Earth, which was where Part 1 took place. By the time Genshin's Part 1 ends, we'll be going to a new world or continent, and we'll get a new cast, and perhaps even an entirely new main character if the Dreamseeker from HI3 is anything to go by.

If they are continuing the narrative Genshin 2 would have to be a direct sequel. I honestly feel the game is lacking in a core concept. What does the main character stand for? The Traveler is Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole. We need to know where this is all going.

4th possibility is that it's a prequel and we play as either the Abyss Sibling (the twin we didn't choose) or a new character or Dayne himself, during the 7 year Khaenri'ah uprising and fall. The anime could also cover this side of the story possibly.

I don't think it will be a second game but a free DLC that extends from genshin and teyvat to another world once teyvat's story concludes but you can still switch back to teyvat and the new world.

I believe the same thing happened with HI3's predecessor, GGZ/Houkai Gakuen 2 when that game's Part 2 started. (I think GGZ is on it's Part 3 now? That's what I've heard anyways.) So yeah, by the time Genshin Part 2 begins we'll still have all of our old Part 1 characters.

Actually Honkai Impact 3rd does a similar thing. You can freely switch between both Part 1 and Part 2 whenever you'd like. Genshin will probably do the same thing. They'll likely add a button in the menu or something that allows you to freely switch between Part 1's world and Part 2's world.

I wont play this game after the end of traveller's story and secrets of celestia and khaenriah is revealed...it kept me bored between the middle patches of a new region and it was hard to play honestly... I have stopped enjoying genshin long ago...in between the special events like lantern rite..dain quest and archon quest..are the only time ive enjoyed them and its fleeting...but i do genuinely love this game... Just waiting for the end of traveller's story related to khaenriah and celestia...
