Do you not screw the carcasses together? do you just glue the front edges and clamp in place?
@topbuildcarpentryАй бұрын
@@surfinchemist1 we have lots of methods - typically they involve Lamello fixings most of the time to avoid screws , tenso or clamex usually
@surfinchemist1Ай бұрын
@@topbuildcarpentry I get the Lamello fittings for face frames, but the boxes themselves aren't mechanically fixed together? Are they not bolted to the wall in anyway either?
@topbuildcarpentryАй бұрын
@ mechanically? No we don’t opt for screws on show if we can help it as mentioned in last comment …. Yes they are attached together with Lamello fixings together/ that’s what they are also designed for to avoid screws - we use them on units and face frames - tensos with glue or clamex are a great fixing - obviously yes we attach everything to the wall? Are you looking for advice on a fit?
@surfinchemist1Ай бұрын
@@topbuildcarpentry I’m always looking for a better way to be paint free on install day. Tensos have certainly been a game changer and use them for all my face frames. I also love clamex and divario for large casework ie wardrobes. I’m curious how the assembled towers in that media unit were fixed to one another and also to the wall with hidden fasteners. The modern designs with recessed strip lighting can show every imperfection. I don’t want to have to paint once it leaves the shop. It’s also challenging with wood effect laminates where you can’t use typical countersink and plug cutters. I’m currently using Fastcap cutters and flush drill system to make my own screw plugs from the edge banding, but the stop collar can mar and it’s tough to get something .5mm thick to sit perfectly flush and clean.
