Remember Corps of Engineers parks. Usually about $25 a night and if you have a national park pass, you get it for $12.50 a night. Hard to beat.

That's our go to parks after state parks. State parks are booked months in advance, but a lot fewer people think of COE parks. I was able to book a full hookup site at a really nice COE for a week during the 4th of July this year, and I made the reservation only 4 months in advance. State parks for the same week were booked up a full 6 months out.

Love state and federal campgrounds. Corp. of Army Engineers campgrounds are another great place. We are learning about fairgrounds for camping. With senior passes camping is1/2 price. Booked a dry camping spot in state campground for $7.00 a night.

If you have a disabled parking placard (the permanent one that is blue in color) you can get a national park pass for free and simply hang it on your mirror with you disable placard! I didn’t know until a few years ago when a ranger at the entrance to Mount Rainier saw my parking placard and informed my husband and I! We go there quite often since it’s only a few hours away from home! And I’ve been to many family reunions in state parks in both Washington and Montana!

The most insanely cheap places we've stayed are at casinos. Just outside of Albuquerque at Sky City they had full RV hookups for $15 a night and we saw plenty of others along our route for that price or slightly higher. We called others that offered free boondocking spots that allowed generators because you could space yourself far away from others but close enough to use amenities at the casino as well as provide security.

Allways great information. Most Maryland State Parks have camping. With a few sites having electric for a slightly extra cost. This year we are going across the Delaware Bay camper and all. You should give that a try.

In the southern states we have WMAs rather than BLM. WMAs are wildlife management areas. Jonesboro Arkansas has a city park that is worth camping in. It's called Craighead Forest Park.

I like the ARVIE option, but only for someplace we'd be within a days drive of when using the SOLD OUT SEARCHES feature. I'd hate to be sitting here in Houston and get notice that a booking in Key West came through the day before. I've never actually driven from Houston to the Keys, but I'd imagine towing a full size rv that distance would probably take me a week.
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper Жыл бұрын
The sold out search feature works great for when you know you want to go somewhere for the weekend, but everything is booked already. We’ve had great luck being able to find a place when we choose at least 3 potential spots and usually one of the three comes open.

I’m looking to plan some Florida State Parks in Feb 2024. Would ARVIE do that if I setup a few places to look for cancellations? Can I list the entire month of Feb for a specific park for the search and book anything that opens up that month? Or do I have to pick specific days to make it work?
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper Жыл бұрын
For now, you do have to choose a date range, you can however set up to 10 sold out searches to be running at once. If you’re trying to book an entire month, this is where setting up multiple searches for date ranges of 1 week at a time might be your best bet.

The memberships certainly sound like a person can save a lot of money on campsites, but what are the costs involved? In your five years, what are the best memberships you would recommend? How many memberships do you have and about how much do they cost annually?

There is an NPS app but it’s not very comprehensive- a lot of the National Parks have their own apps (per park).

If you do the pause it plan (meaning you ONLY pay for the months you use the service and “pause” it for the months you don’t) it’s $19.95 - if you do an annual plan it’s even cheaper

OMG ... the captions say RV but the company is "Arvie." PLEASE read the reviews for this company.... and from what research I can do in a few minutes after watching her .... the fee is likely $19.95/mo after some hard to determine possible free trial period, which may then AUTOMATICALLY convert to a (high) fee CONTINUING cost process WITH VERY SPECIFIC REQUUREMENTS TO STOP THESE PAYMENTS. THE VIDEO DID NOT EVEN HINT AT THESE THINGS. BUYER BEWARE.
@GratefulGlamper
@GratefulGlamper Жыл бұрын
Arvie actually has a pay as you go option where you are NOT charged for the months you’re not using it. We see a TON of value as we’ve saved literally hundred by using Arvie to pick up hard to get into state park campgrounds vs resorting to the higher priced RV resorts. We ONLY share about products/services we PERSONALLY use. Thanks for watching
