@@Rmason3156 the world kinsect series with the iceborne addition of kinsect slinger feed was just barely a bit away from being a full on weapon in it's own right. just played the vast majority of the game with that as my primary attack. Rise kinsect seems more synergistic to the insect glaive, but the way it could be a weapon in world appears to have been far removed, if what ive seen from rise footage is any indication.

It fits. Rise and Sunbreak lean very heavily on the idea that you're relying on partners instead of just your own skills. Palicos, Palamutes, Cohoots, Wirebugs, and even NPCs so it makes perfect sense that Kinsects would receive an overhaul.

3:20 Yes, Kinsect Slash should apply the same aerial damage buff. The damage buff is tied to Vaulting Dance, not to Jumping Advancing Slash, hence why Forward Roundslash also gives you one stack of the aerial damage buff if you successfully land the counter.

Feels like finally, with Rise and now Sunbreak, they did this weapon justice with aerial attack multiplier, Kinsect types (cant wait to use the new ones), AKA, Kinsect slash I really hope they manage to fit these moves into the weapon's moveset itself in future games, I doubt I could use IG without these moves again

Kinsect slash does apply the bonus to wyvern dive. It’s quickly become my new favorite attack because it’s more controllable and allows you to much more quickly maximize wyvern dive damage

I can't wait to play my beloved glaive again in sunbreak! The only thing I worry about it is if we can't universally change our silkbind attacks to bind diving wyvern in the ZL+X and have the A.K.A as the ZL+A then I'd feel a bit bad. However, if that were the case I can designate the blue scroll to be the extract gathering set with the A.K.A as the big finisher and have the red scroll set to be my mega damage dealer set so that the fight with the monsters have a more fluid focus. Overall, with the kinsect's new bonuses I wonder what experiments I can run in creating flinches to topple monsters and the sustainability of the triple extract powder residue to keep up the fight. Though with the glaives aerial specialty I just hope the monsters have enough bite to keep the battle interesting, else I'll just be able to skid past all their new attacks and be sad, albeit smug that I can just fly over all their threats while my teammates gotta think of how to handle the disruptive aoe's. Here's hoping these monsters aren't just for show on a cat walk and are advanced enough to give me a challenge in the skies!

You still have to remember that they still have not shown every silkbind yet for all weapons as they stated on social media so we're still missing a switch skill on the ZL+ X input, who knows if it maybe could be something as good as diving wyvern and even if it's not a really great move, insect glaive already looks so much fun in sunbreak

i cant figure out how to even aim the awakened kinsect attack in the demo :'( sometimes my hunter ends up going the exact opposite direction i wanted him to go. also, how does the powder vortex work? does the bug just do it automatically after a while if you leave it out?

03:20 Kinsect Slash should work for increasing Aerial damage because it's not actually Jumping Advancing Slash that does it, what actually increases aerial damage after each use is the Vaulting Dance, the animation where you go up after hitting the Monster and can continue using Aerial moves. You can confirm that by doing an Advancing Roundslash into a Monster attack, it's gonna give you the i-frames of the Vaulting Dance and you get the first tier buff for aerials.

Wow that insect move only uses one wire bug? That's handy, I am a insect user myself and I just love it. Insect glaive is one of those weapons you can have 3 status for one weapon. But it just so fast and the flying around is an added bonus. I just wish didn't have to collect the boost. Can't have everything I suppose. But still a very fun and great weapon. Oh man that powder vortex, thats fantastic, boosted power extract to? Man they giving glaive some love. Come on sunbreak I'm ready to rock n roll.

The only thing I'm worried about with the kinsect slash is the damage. The spiker against lunagaron did like 91 damage which is SUPER low. It looks like it'll feel super smooth but if the damage is bad there's not going to be a lot of incentive to use the move

I'm pretty sure the kinsect slash dive attack has 3 hits, but the hunter only landed one of them against Lunagaron. The damage is probably reasonable assuming all hits connect.

@@randomnessgamerman I know it's got the three vaults, but even the one he landed that wasn't the spiker did pretty bad damage unless I'm reading something wrong. If you land all or most hits of the spinning slash you can get a solid 200+ damage. The numbers I've seen just don't compare. I know it's not set in stone, it's just potentially worrying

@@RoseWovenScythe High damage doesn't seem to be the main use case for kinsect slash. it looks like a way for the insect glaive user to get back to the ground quickly and deal some damage without needing to use the clunky Diving Wyvern. Kinsect slash looks like it will be more useful for grounded IG playstyle and the helicopter attack is better for aerial IG playstyle. Each can have a clear niche that doesn't just need to be damage. Kinsect slash will probably end up being used over the helicopter attack in most cases anyways, simply because it's significntly faster and thus safer to use without getting swatted out of the air mid attack. Plus it gives you extract as a bonus.

158 silkbind kinsect dmg is really, REALLY neat! Would be a shame if it caps at only 3 hits, but still acceptable. Also, does kinsect slash only combo once? Kinda limits IG's air time and the dmg buff stacks.

After seeing all the stuff for IG, I got kinda interested in playing it. Gonna be honest, it was much easier to learn than I expected. I've done maybe 10 hunts with it so far, but I was already able to defeat the Emergency Magnamalo event quest first try using it. The weapon is just stupid fun when you're not getting caught mid-air by jank hitboxes on some attacks, I'm looking at you Diablos... I am a little concerned that Kinsect Slash is going to be worse than Jumping Advancing Slash, because it just hits nowhere near as many times, although my sharpness will be thankful. From what I remember, it is actually more for gathering extracts, since you get the extract from the parts you hit with it. So more than likely it will be how you start a fight, but then swap to Jumping Advancing Slash for damage. That being said, does the move also change once you have red extract?

The way I've interpreted it is that the new swap skills will be most effective before getting triple buff for the airial attack, and right before triple buff expires for the kinsect yet, so in between those two states you will want to use normal airial and diving wyvern. If that is accurate then they fit neatly into the existing rhythm of insect glaive which will be awesome.

Kinsect Slash will changes to a downward angled spiral thrust once you gather red extract, so you are inclined to get that one last because you will lose your aerial mobility. Seems useful to me though. Towards the end of a triple buff period, we can swap skills, throw out an AKA to make the most use of the rest and seamlessly gather extracts again. Maybe even supported by a powder Vortex which will detonate the residual extract clouds from the previous AKA. Man this will be so dope!

@@-siranzalot- Sadly, I still don't know enough about the Kinsect types, but do all Kinsects actually drop Powder? I've only really run Assist Types, and I haven't seen any powder clouds being dropped. I would assume so, otherwise the Powder Vortex would be pointless as a Kinsect bonus.

Maybe Kinsect Slash too because we are not actually sending out the kinsect for this one. But thats besides the point, powder vortex is a new kinsect type entirely and it should leave clouds with everything. Otherwise I agree, they'd be completely pointless

ok just saw your question about Kinsect types. First severing is for cutting tail while blunt is hitting head for K.O. monster. I personally like severing. Nomral: basic. It sucks Assist: when you are at the end of certain combo your bug will fly out and follow your staff. Not only does it give extra hits (extra damage) it also extend your weapon range. So you can hit something far from you when the monster moves away. My favorite. Speed. When your bug is at home on your arm it charges. When it glow blue (charged up) you can send your bug out to do damage. ONLY the FIRST hit has bonus damage. You need to call bug back to your arm and to charge again for next bonus damage. Dual Color. You get two color buff per hit. Meaning you can very quickly get all 3 buff by just hitting two places. My favorite. Powder: same from MHW. When you send bug out, wherever the monster get hits it leave a dust cloud (poison, blast, heal...). Just a tip, IG is a FAST hitting weapon, that means build ups like blast or poison works extremely well with it because of high number of hits. Also in Rise if you get all three color buff you automatically get earplug skill. completely broken. Also to me the speed of bug moving in and out matters the most. So you should focus on Kinsect bonus with high speed.

I don't think powder vortex and boosted kinsect extract are switch skills. They are kinsect bonuses. We already saw 5 switch skills for the insect glaive so i doubt these will be switch skills. They will most likely trigger at either a specific interval, or after certain conditions have been met.

I honestly am not so much intereted in the new moves since I already love how it is right now in Rise, but what get me exited are the new Kinsects tho which seem super interesting and gives the weapon his personality, now a lot of the Kinsects are so good it's hard to decide. But the new skills I surely will skip them and stick to my actual combos. What I like is that you can anyway try them with the Switch Skills so you can get real tests in mid hunt or even swap them for very circunstancial situations.

I've always hated the Insect Glaive because of the need to gather buffs, but these changes are making it look more appealing, I'd still rather the buffs where reamoved or built in as part of combo's though.

Here is my small issue with IG: -In World i used R2 to use the Kinsect -In Rise due to the Silkbinds i use L2 -In the next MH silkbinds will be be almost certainly gone so it will be R2 again Very confusing especially if i play not only one monster hunter game at the same time ...

The issue isn't actually the existence of Silkbind Attacks. Gunner weapons in Rise still use ZL to bring up the reticle and ZR to shoot, which is the same as in World. Silkbind Attacks are mapped to R instead of ZR, and all you lose is the ability to sheathe your weapon with R. (The only difference there is if you want to sheathe immediately out of a recovery animation, blademasters can just hold R whereas gunners have to furiously mash Y. They should really allow you to sheathe immediately by holding Y, too.) All they need to do is give Insect Glaive a toggle option to use gunner controls instead of blademaster controls, and we'd be able to have the same controls as in World. I'm honestly not sure why they didn't do this already since Insect Glaive has a reticle just like gunner weapons.

would love to see a new style that leaves the glaive behind and you bring multiple kinsects and use them as a range weapon and attack assists to melee attacks(kicks and punches) and the style focuses on a lot of dust effects and large AOE explosions from the dust clouds effectively bringing the mage like playstyle in the world of Monster Hunter without actually bringing real magic in to the game... also wire bugs become a permanent part of the arsenal for IG or if this gets developed in to its own new weapon class wire bug evasions, rapid-fire kinsects, huge explosions(blast, elemental, status and elemental blights), support dust(buffs and heals) cloud patches on the ground limitless potential by just tweaking stuff that already exist now this is completely unrealistic for sunbreak but would love to se it in MH6 for sure
