Atari 2600: Qbert (Q*Bert)

This was one of the most addictive Atari 2600 games ever!! The one thing that made me excel at this to the point where just one game could last for a couple of hours was the tactic of timing jumping towards the snake so that I'd swap places with it, back and forth if needed so that it couldn't catch me. Ofcourse sometimes I'd mistime the jumps and get caught but that was definitely a tactic that would make the game last for ages due to me racking up so many lives.

I loved playing this game as a kid, was always annoyed by Carrot Ends moving across the map, wasn't until I was a little older that someone showed me those things on the side were to dump Carrot Ends off the ledge by causing him to jump.

I think the first time I played this was either 1988 or 89. I got hooked on this game immediately. The furthest I made it was where you only see the tops of the cubes, and I always kept losing there.

This is one of my favorite Atari games. I got pretty far with this game but I can't remember what level I got to. Still have it and my Atari. ❤

Had that version back in 1983. This is played on easy mode. Hard mode included the red balls if set to Difficulty A (Expert).

One trick I learned from playing the 2600 version is that you can switch places with Coily if you time your jump right.

Rotflmfao @ 3:27 when the snake got smart and waited for him! That sound effect when Q Bert got hit has me made laugh for over 30 years! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I played this on an old Atari at special Ed school during certain lunch recess and MAN this game was HARD as Hell! I would laugh though every time I got hit by the snake just because of the sound effects. Being at a special Ed school at the time, over 80 percent of the time I got in trouble was because I laughed when classmates played this and got hit by the snake or fell off the edge. 😢😂😢😂😢😂😅😅🤣 Great times! Even at 42, this game is still unbelievably hard and gave me gamer trauma when I accidentally jumped to my doom! 😢😂😂😂😢

Ah, I remember playing this in my dad's Heavy Sixer as a kid, once. Looking back, great port for Atari 2600. As far as I remember, this is probably also the first game to have cursing, though censored. It's so hilarious you can actually fall off the cubes.

@@looe9195 There are original Gameboy and Gameboy Color versions of Qbert. I have the original version, it's ok for what it is, its basic but still playable. I've not played the color version but it looks fairly decent.

This game was one of my favorites on the 2600, but sadly, it was around the end of its lifetime. Because a new king was coming: The Nintendo Entertainment System.
