Found a creek just like you described. It was loaded with fish. Got my first inshore slam there!

@@southernsalt So now I'm wondering, were they in that creek all summer? Will they stay there all winter?

Caught two flounder and a slot redfish on a shoreline between two creek mouths today. I made sure to target that area after watching this video and it paid off. Thanks!

Nailed it! I have a couple of creeks in the back yard bayou, that are perfect to pole up into some deeper holes that can actually trap redfish when we get some fast-falling tides. Those are fun for site casting till the fish and I are worn out! Those are best for the first cold fronts unless you like eating bugs! Also means some work to drag back out if the tide gets too low, but those can be really fun trips when timed right. Great stuff as always sir!

Thanks bud, yeah that area I’ve been catching a lot of the redfish in lately is the same way. If you mess around in there to long you’re gonna be spending the night.

Was able to get out yday in the marsh it was a tough day wind was blowing me all over the place they wouldn’t touch the wake bait managed to get the skunk off with a dink red on soft plastic. But i learned a few things while i was out there. Preciate these tips brother

Secondary flow is the reason for the deeper sections being on the outside of the bend. The force of the water hitting the outer bank creates a high pressure and the inside has low pressure. There is a thin boundary layer near the surface of the bottom that flows from outside of the bend to the inside. This causes sediment to build up on the inner bank along with decreased water speeds. This is why creeks and rivers meander and form oxbows. They always get more crooked not straighter. The more you know...

Idk about your marsh system, but in Pensacola we have rivers that run into them, they say when it rains, it ruins the fishing. What do you think about that?
@southernsalt4 жыл бұрын
It messes up the salinity and makes the water pretty dirty which will make it tougher. Depending on the amount of rain it typically only takes a couple of days to return to normal.

Another great video man! Last weeks high tide worked out exactly way you said. Grand bay near the Mississippi line was on fire. This weekend is neap tide. Would you treat it more like the low tide video or the high tide video? This is a great series! 👍

Thanks bro that’s good to hear! If the currents not flowing I would treat it like a low tide. But never pass up flooded grass.

I love fishing creek mouths on an outgoing tide. Had some of my best days catching trout and flounder. Which btw i prefer over reds.

I’m with you on that. My passion is trout fishing. I hit the marsh for redfish when the wind is to rough on the flats.

Southern Salt Kayak Fishing Amen to that. And lately, where i live, the winds have been horrible. Can't ever seem to get the winds and the tide to match up. Lol
