Thanks for trying to help and encourage people with limited income to move to Dominican Republic. Actually if you choose to live in other parts of Dominican Republic your rent can considerably be reduced. I have lived in Cabrera(oceon side) and Constanza( beautiful mountains) for the past 20 years with combined rents of (4500pesos+ 3000 pesos=7500 pesos) or less than $150 U.S. for both and recently decided to no longer travel back and forth and now permanently live in Constanza paying only 3000pesos and soon moving to a very modern brand new 2 bedroom home that will rent for 7000 pesos monthly($130 U.S.). This lady is very realistic in her stimations and I thank her again. This is a beautiful country to live and I recommend highly specially if your intention is to help some of Dominican needy brothers and sisters.

I'm glad to see these videos. I know they do this in Asian countries a lot. They show very expensive places to very cheap places. With cheap I mean $60 to $150 a month. For me I like this apartment. I know for me I like to have a safe neighborhood, air conditioning, and hot water. If I have those things I'm good. It doesn't matter if around expats or not.

In San Isidro, Juan bosh also (Santo Domingo Este not far from the military base and the airport (so no criminals there)) for a little bit more expensive you have a brand new apartment, for like 350-400 you have a brand new very good 2 bedrooms flat. This is where we were Staying during our month in the DR. Those appartment are in gated communities with kids park, hospital, restaurant ect. And in San Isidro you have the military airbase so there won't be no criminals there, super mercado Bravo with smart fit at walking distance, lot of plazza, supermercado Ole not far, lot of constructions This is where we plan on buying an apartment for our AirBnB

There are a lot of places you can get for that price or less. I actually know a place in villa mella, north Santo Domingo, that has less than a yr. Old 2br. apartments for 4000 pesos the area is a little rough but it's building up. It's on a street called Mata Los indios

It's a touchy subject for me because I've seen 1st hand how this affects the locals.....incoming exapts pushing COL higher. I saw it in Costa Rica, parts of Mexico, Panama, and even El Salvador. I think ES and DR are very comparable. Both have huge stateside populations, and their diaspora has exploded with money. El Salvador is Los Angeles and D.C. money, DR is NY money. $200 is nothing to us. But the avg Dominican is lucky to earn, 20,00 pesos? Hardly enough to cover living expenses plus groceries plus transportation. Remittances its sustaining both those countries.

It's no difference than a foreigner going to the US to rent an apartment. They have strict requirements in the States too. Everyone is protecting their investment. The only thing they require here that makes it difficult is to have a Dominican cosigner and really that's standard.

The only issue with this property is the location. It's in SD Norte, not too far from the Distrito Nacional, where most people work, but it's a nightmare to cross the bridge to go into the city every day. There's the Metro which takes you downtown, but if you have a car, or plan on using Uber be ready to be in traffic jams every day at all times.

@@NorberisR (this is not the order of priority): a washer that works, a place to hang clothes to air dry (and not just 2 pieces of clothes) properly, a kitchen with at least a stove top that works even if the oven doesn't (and the power to do so included in the rent, even if it's propane), bare bone basic kitchenware included even if of low quality (as long as they work), cupboard space for dry groceries and for a small amount of dishes, a regular sized fridge including the top being a regular sized fridge freezer, enough lighting for the kitchen to make meals and clean dishes properly, obviously a sink to do so (preferably 2 sinks but 1 would suffice), variable speed fans (preferably including high speed, though at new prices those are over 3000 pesos each, more expensive than in Canada...I know because I just bought one and they reduced it by 200 pesos after I expressed my shock), a large enough desk/table to eat and/or do office work on plus a proper chair (doesn't have to be a gaming chair) to help one do so, enough outlets to plug computer and other devices into, a single bed that doesn't have bed bugs or body residue left on or in it, plus bedding (same standard, even if low quality), at least 6 drawers of dresser(s), a bathroom that works including the shower (preferably a seat cover for the toilet even if no seat cover lid, instead of sitting on the rim), a place to hang at least a couple dozen clothes (like a wardrobe bar), a nearby place to relax and enjoy outdoor scenery (if not an extra room or an attached place outdoors to do so), a swimming pool to be able to do lane swimming early in the morning no more than a half hour walk away (now I know I am starting to sound picky, but that's the best way for me to lose weight and not waste too much time), and no need for WiFi but close enough to WiFi towers to regularly give me at least 30 Mbps with my phone provider (and a device from them for me to extend to my computer) instead of the measly 2-7 I currently get out in one of the smaller cities in this foreign country (which I hope to make my home). I think that's it. Don't know yet if I missed anything. Oh yeah, all utilities included except WiFi. Oh, and safe from thefts/vandalism/burglaries/etc. I know that outside the home/yard, it may be a different story in this country, as you correctly pointed out in one of your unrelated vids about this country's women. LOL EDIT: and only about $100 US if it's either just a room being rented out (but where I still get the amount of space I mentioned above, including fridge and freezer space) where I share the common areas, or anything similar to that. And preferably not where I'm at risk of them selling the place without giving me at least a few months' notice so I have enough time to adjust. P.S. The noisy part is aggravating, but understandable, given the price ranges, so obviously some inconveniences one shouldn't be fussy about. ;)
