So true about newer LA homes. I live in the valley among all the little 1960’s ranches. recently someone knocked down 4 ranches and built a cement glass box. When i first noticed it Ithought the town was building a new library. 😂😂😂 it looks rediculous . This house is beautiful.

Totally fell in love with this house. Out of ALL the house I’ve seen on youtube this is definitely what you call a luxurious home. It IS a home. If I had the money I would definitely pick this house, no doubt, hands down. Amazing interior and exterior, amazing historical background, very cozy, everything is well thought out, even little details like the stairs with a little gate so that babies won’t fall on the stairs. You can tell it’s made to be a family home.

Hi Enes and Mike! Although MCM architecture has my heart, I spent a lot of time in old, Queen Anne Victorian homes like this growing up. The curve at the top of each room is called, cove moulding. The thought was the geometry of the room was good for acoustics & would diminish echoing. In most wall applications it was made of board over lath plaster and troweled on by hand. On decorative and cornered areas it was almost always hand carved by a master plasterer. As are all the rest of the carvings you see through out this home. Nice to see an old gem built by true masters of the craft.

I was actually feeling like it's a bargain. If I were an L.A. gal I'd be on it.

No ! This rare find should be in the US$ 20+ million range.

It's the neighborhood. Hancock Park is surrounded on all sides by unsavory neighborhoods, in my opinion. The traffic is also extremely heavy around the area. It's just not a great part of LA.

A beautifully preserved masterpiece. As an architect, I am encouraged by the preservation of such historical and monumental buildings, allowing us to see and learn from brilliant architects, and be inspired by such good design and details. Every building tells a story.

That house is my dream!! Can you imagine being a kid growing up there? Endless hide and seek potential! Can't picture any of the modern cubes getting the same kind of review in a hundred years....

This is the coolest house tour that not everyone subscribed to Enes will see. This home feels so cozy. And also what a unique history of this place, really nice episode, thank you!
