Undoubtedly well-design and clean-cut. Like so many comments here, the heading of this clip is irrelevant, there is no element inside to convince us that the design is intended for semi-retired parents, no aided handrail, no rounded corner or any thought for older people at all. Instead, the design intention mainly is to suit the son's need and taste. Since he is only wearing same black t-shirts, does he need so many same t-shirts, I guess 4 sets will suffice.

Putting the theme aside, would be nice if the video shared some design features for semi retired parents. I would think that instead of mid height open shelving for commonly used shoes, a floor level one would make more sense so parents don’t have to bend down to pick up. a stool / bench or sitting area for parents to put on shoes would would be good too. I also don’t think my parents would want open closet that would collect dusts.

a combination of minimalism, industrial, modern, relaxed and comfortable. i love the diffused light and the plain, matte white drapes. but that personalization is missing, that something that makes you say.. "i'm home".

The key is his parents are SEMI-RETIRED. It appears this is his parent's home and he is living with them in one of the smaller guest rooms. He has adopted a minimalist design/lifestyle (@6:12 all black wardrobe) but this does not equate with functionality for elderly parents. He may not cook but many older folks like to cook at home. The Master Bedroom is not an en-suite therefore, they share the two hallway bathrooms. An interesting renovation as it reminds me of when parents buy an apartment for the student to live in off-campus while at university with the intent the parents will occupy the space as they prepare for retirement.

Firm believer in using neutral materials when designing spaces. More flexibility. Pops of color come with artwork, dinnerware, bedding/towels, etc. Great space!

Its so simple, no clutter, clean and suitable for the elderly. Though I have to say 6:03 those cloth look the same, I dont think u need to think that hard right? No offense, because I thought its so funny. 🤣

Sorry, it is as simple as described..... but is lifeless and putting too many things in a simple design. Retired or small family living doesn't mean lifeless. Spending a lot in renovation to make the kitchen simple becos not cooking or little cooking must as well downsize the kitchen. Of cos, design is always in the eyes of the beholder. Just my thoughts for sharing.

Looks lovely, but that's an enormous space for an old retired couple. I can imagine at least one of those bedrooms will remain unused, or become an overloaded storage room. Also maintenance - unless they can afford regular house cleaning service, keeping this place clean will be less peaceful and much more of a chore for an older couple.
