This was Panzerzug 32 captured by French forces on 7 September 1944 at St Berain. A lot of the train including the engine ‘Scarabeus’ was constructed in France. It was later taken to Lille and scrapped.

I believe that Tank at the end is a French Renault - the Germans did use allot of captured equiptment in ocupation zones

One of the machine guns being used is a Czech light machine gun. I believe the nomenclature is a zb.28, but not positive of that. In any event, it’s the weapon the British Bren gun is descended from. Not surprising, as the armored trains tended to be armed with substitute weapons

@@khaelamensha3624 ever see "fury"? Scene spoke of the dead horses in the retreat from France that stank badly. I understand that was historically correct, I also know horses were often eaten such as the starving soldiers in stallingrad used. Now I'm curious if there is data on the number of horses killed during the conflict. 🤔

This action scene is fake, for the movie, La Bataille du rail', but, the train is really an ex-German armoured train. As well, in the end scene of the transport train crash, from this movie, apparently, from what I've read, everything you see is real. The train, the wagons, the tanks, and the half tracks. All ex-German military vehicles. All trashed for the movie.
@BoleDaPole6 ай бұрын
Looks like a movie, and like most post ww2 films it vastly overblows the French resistance efforts during ww2. Far more Frenchman where supportive of Germany than against it. Most were simply neutral. Many aided German construction of the Atlantic wall, knowing full well what would happen if the allies were successful in invading France. Thier worst fears were realized as hundreds of thousands of French civilians homes were destroyed and tens of thousands died during the " liberation" of France. I guess the thought was that it's better to be occupied and alive rather than free and dead.
