Inside a Hand Loom Weaving Factory

Brilliant to watch these guys working like this. I used to work in the Lancashire weaving mills in the early 60s as a beam gaiter. I was showing my wife this video earlier today and she couldn’t believe that I know so much about this. I worked on Piconol and Jaquard looms a Northrop as well. After all these years I miss the atmosphere and friends I had back then. I actually saved a cleaning lady from serious injury or even worse one day as she slipped between 2 looms an got caught up in the end pulley system that dragged her into one of the looms taking her upside down and stripping her clothing off except for the tangle around her waist. I ran down the weaving shed and hit the emergency shut down button that stopped all the looms. Nobody knew what was happening until I ran back and climbed over the loom that she was caught up in, then the weavers and tacklers came running and we got her out with one minor scratches. I was actually told off for shutting the whole shed down instead of being praised for saving the lady from disaster? Funny old world! This is a great video and these guys deserve a gold medal! 🖖

I worked at a Sylvania light bulb factory for 3 days before. The noise in that place was unbelievable. Even with ear plugs I could still hear the machinery in my ears at night while trying to sleep. After the third day I quit, I would have had to have started shooting smack again to keep that job.

Please share the location. I'm quite familiar with industrial weaving mills & this makes me sad. The concept are likely very hot, we can hear how noisy it is. Are they paid by the meter? The pace is exhausting from some of what was shown.
